Signs of spring in the MMP

And for barbers – cut, cut, cut, blood, spurt, artery, murder, Hitchcock, Psycho… right … well …
Dinner was a lovely chicken salad with mushrooms and peppers.

{{{BBBobbio}}} so sorry for your loss. I remember you talkin’ about him. My thoughts and prayers are with Steve, his family, and you.

Well, so much for the new gig. The trial period I was in ended abruptly today, per phone call from my contact at training program. At least I can probably go back there until I’m done with school, so will have income.

OTOH, I’m so demoralized right now I don’t know that there’s a point in finishing the certificate I’ve been working on. I have no idea what the problem was, since no one bothered to actually SAY anything until the hammer dropped. This leaves me thinking the problem is that I’m a complete failure.

BES****T I can do, Swampy

Popcorn chikins, shells & cheese & Broccoli for supper… yum!

(Tomorrow is my Firday!)

Well, Hell.

I like Red giving us the local buzz.

Sweeney Todd

Bobbio, that sux!

{{{Bobbio}}} My condolences to you and to his family and friends.

Nettie - it might not be you at all. Budgets are weird and fickle things. So are companies. Mine is cutting all consultants and contractors, for example. No case by case look at the needs of the situation. Just a blanket policy. This results in chaos and whacky decisions. I understand why you might feel that you messed up, because it sucks to get that kind of news. Just remember it likely wasn’t you at all. They’re the messed up ones.

Have reached the evening hours. Son is excited for Pi Day (they are having pie). Daughter has a presentation due tomorrow. She is not happy. I can’t tell if she just doesn’t want to do the presentation or she doesn’t like doing PowerPoint. We are having some fun getting through this. It’s taking an effort of will power on my part not to tell her to move over and let me just do the work. I keep meaning to write that book on “things they don’t tell you about being a parent.” I’d probably start with the whole diapering mess, but homework would definitely get a chapter.

Ohmmmm. Ohmmmm.

I’m trying to convince myself I’m not totally incompetent. We’ll see how I do on that.

Very small company, and TBH, not the most pleasant place I’ve ever worked. Husband and wife run it, and in my not-quite-two-week tenure, they were dealing with turnover in two positions (my own assistant bookkeeper spot and receptionist/file clerk), plus some apparent issues with another employee I didn’t see much (his duties were out of office), plus kid drama, and they don’t seem to get along or really much like each other. Wasn’t fun listening to the grouching between them, and I really could have done without sharing the high stress level when starting a new job is enough pressure.

Oh, and for bonus points, I have a bladder infection. Very nice nurse practitioner at CVS Minute Clinic checked me over, and I now have meds to remember to take for the next few days. Just what I needed, right, medical issue on top of the job problems.

I have heard back from training program contact, and he assures me I still have a spot there, so I don’t have to worry about sudden loss of income on top of everything else. I do hope that internship fair I signed up for (paid internships for community college students) pans out, though, since I REALLY WANT OUT OF RETAIL!!!

VunderBob, I’m sorry for the loss of your friend and co-irker. Was he married, kids? Are they doing OK? I will be thinking of you and them, will include you in my prayers tonight.

I’m off for another long day. First it’s irk that pays, then over to the church to prep the Lenten light supper. I’m not spending enough time with Nathan and Atilla, I hade to go out the door, knowing I’ll be gone for so long.

Sorry about your loss, Bobbio. Guess that’s one case where nobody can complain the ambulance was too slow. His poor partner, finding himself with two patients and only two hands.

To me it says that at least in part it’s a failure to communicate on their side. From your other post, it doesn’t seem as if “complete, concise, professional communication” was a high priority at that company.

We’re having a communication problem as well. Our boss is almost completely uncommunicative; he doesn’t read his company email, only his email from the client (we had to find this from a third party). Occasionally he gets a burst of “doing something”, but even that is usually incomplete. Like, he will get Andy access to a bunch of systems and send the information on… to an email Andy still can’t access. He got Andy’s client email access and provisional password and forwarded it - to Andy’s client email (which he couldn’t access without that password) instead of to our company’s email (which Andy definitely can use, promise). Andy was saying how he hopes all this isn’t going to make us look bad, because damnit.

The rest of the new job is great but man this guy. We’re hopping above him, below him and sideways of him, because we’d actually like to, you know, do our jobs?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. The truck comes today, so plenty to do.

I went to bed with Mel at 8. It wasn’t a perfect night, but I think I mostly slept, so yay for that.

And I forgot to mention - the stop sign that was mowed down over the weekend was back in place on a 4X4 post when we got home on Monday. Once again, I am very impressed with my county!

{{{Nettie}}} - as others have said, it doesn’t sound like your fault at all, so let the guilt go and look to the future. Someday, this will be a cocktail party anecdote and you’ll laugh and laugh!

Thanks to Jason and Adam, I have work today. YAY!! Onward!

Happy Wednesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 59 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 83 for the day and sunny. Coolish mornin’s and warm afternoons means Spring is here! Plus pollen.

{{{Nettie}}} like others have said, don’t blame yourself. That place sounds really dysfunctional so this could be a blessin’ in disguise. Mayhaps you did indeed dodge a bullet.

OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. It shall be a day at the orifice with some local runnin’ around this afternoon.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

blurf

Happy Hump Day!

Looks to be another beautiful day outside.
Let’s hope it’s a good day inside - yesterday was not so good.
I didn’t get as much done as I hoped.

Dishwasher has been loaded and is ready to go. First load of laundry is in the washer. I hope today is more productive than yesterday.

{{{Bobbio}}} Any loss of a friend is a bad thing; to lose one like that has got to be even harder. My condolences. Hope you and his other friends have time to swap stories about him after the funeral…it sounds like that is how he would like to be remembered.

**{{{Nettie}}} ** I agree with sunny, the working life can be a strange and occasionally weird place, and adding it to school and life pressures…well, sometimes it does get stressful. Take a deep breath, realize you are still the person we all like (well, don’t know about spidey, but the rest of us I’m pretty sure of…:stuck_out_tongue: ) and keep plugging along.

I think I am catching some of that "wake up early’ disease that FCM and Sari have, albeit I don’t have either a dog or a child, woke up at 1:20AM, 3:10AM, and 4:30AM before my alarm went off at 5:05AM. No idea why, no storms in the area and the temperature is in the 60’s-70’s this week. Maybe nerves with my impending retirement?

Agreed to defer China to 2017 to go with friends to South Africa/Zambia in June 2016. Now have to fly from Alabama to Johannesburg, S. Africa, which is going to require several plane changes and long, cramped flights. Oh joy. But still should be fun.

Guess I’ll get my training done today on-line. 4-hour course, will make the training people and my bosses happy since I’ll hit my quota, even if I retire two months later. Work can be wierd, as I said above.
