Since It Ain't Up Yet, Here's The MMP

Actually the Spanish said las amistades peligrosas (dangerous friendships), but that’s because we don’t bother have a word for “liaisons”. Half your undertones* don’t exist in Spanish. pats Nooner

  • for other people they’d be overtones, but this is Nooner.

Morning all! Yes, it is still morning, I have been up since the crack of sparrow’s fart and was at work insanely early. It’s the start of exam week for us and I am (as usual) paranoid that I’ve forgotten something really important and it will all go horribly wrong. Of course I haven’t, and it won’t, but it still didn’t stop me waking up at 5am after a bizarre dream involving a half-chopped chicken and a set of window blinds that were broken and worked on a coin-meter. What that has to do with Health Care Evaluation & Needs Assessment is quite beyond me.

Welcome JT! Hope you like it here, we are a friendly bunch despite what Nooner might tell you about the goat and the squid. waves from a very safe distance across the Pond

… I can’t get the stupid data load program to read half the data lines and I have no idea why

Oh boooooosssmaaaaaan!

It’s nice having a boss who’s technical and patient, I can bug him for these things. I’m writing that “Dataloads for Dummies” that I wish I’d gotten ten years ago. The Dummies part, I’ve got down pat.

Good morning, all! My sweetie finally dragged in after 8. There was a big accident in Hughesville - bad enough that they had to life-flight several folks out. And it’s one of those places where there isn’t an easy detour, so poor guy was stuck in his car for a short eternity (or so it seemed to him.) He’s off to work now, still exhausted, and I’ve sprayed all the individual carpet stains I could find.

Yep - today is carpet-cleaning day! Woohoo!! Envy me!!! OK, I’m just spot-cleaning the worst places. I just can’t get motivated to empty an entire room. But the stains are making me crazy, so with luck, they’ll all be gone in short order. Other than that, I’m not sure what I’ll do. It’s still early and I’m not caffeinated.

Happy Tuesday!

Blurf[sup]3[/sup].

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienated. I’d yawn but the caffiene has kicked in. 'Tis 70 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88 and rain. As hyoooooomid as it is out it should rain. Plus I have to spend most of the day in large and in charge Americus, Jawja. The fact that I have to drive somewhere is usually enough to produce torrents of Noahdic proportion. Still it should be a kinda fun day. It’s a Council on Aging annual picnic/fun day and I’m there for PR purposes. I even have tchotchkes (love that word!) to hand out. I have a hundred pill box thingies. I figure senior citizens and pill boxes is a win-win kinda thing.

Taters yay for excellent customer service!

Nava I’d need “Dataloads for The Terminally Stoopid.”

BooFae good luck with irk. I trust the pointy stick is extra sharp and pointy.

I suppose I should forage for brekkie and commence purtification for irk. Oh well. At least I get fed N.O.L . today. Free N.O.L. is always good, right?

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

I assume the Terminally Stoopid are functional illiterates (not to be confused with regular folks who didn’t get schooling), thus no amount of manualing will ever work for them.

Blurf.

Welcome Jim! Whereabouts do you live in Houston? I’m on the west side. I’d love to see pics of your ride. Mine is still being rebuilt by Mr Rebo. He never seems to have time to work on any projects anymore… :frowning: I have an '83 Harley Sportster.

**Rebo **- I didn’t know you were a biker chick! You seem like a nice, wholesome all-American mom… It’s like suddenly discovering that June Cleaver was in Hell’s Angels!!

I just finished spot cleaning the carpets in the dining room, living room, and family room. I just needed to use hot water because there was much soap residue on the various stains - maybe that’s why they stay stained?? I did my best to rinse and extract as much of the leavin’s as I could - we’ll see how it looks when it dries. The house is open and the ceiling fan is on - that should help it dry faster.

It’s sunny out, and we’re threatened with rain tonight and tomorrow. I really should get outside and mow what little grass we have. Maybe in a little bit. Because in the interim, the Yard Fairies may show up and take care of it for me.

Well, it *could *happen…

My Dad and stepmother called last night. My Dad is in the hospital with double pneumonia and maybe something else; they were still waiting on some test results.

They were keeping him overnight and may keep him longer. He was most unhappy about this; but I told him they don’t say they’re keeping you just for shits and grins.

I wanted to go on down and bring both of them some food because they’d been down there for several hours and still hadn’t gotten a room for him, but my stepmother didn’t want me to. She told me she wanted my Dad to rest (as do I) and that she was bushed and was leaving as soon as my Dad got a room

She called me around nine last night and when she had left, he was in the ICU, but only because his assigned bed wasn’t ready for him yet.

Anyway, I’m worried about him. The man can never sit still, always has to have a project, etc. He was out flying RC planes with a friend, when the friend’s plane went down in the lake. He and the friend paddled out in a boat to retrieve the plane, and Dad was having hard time. Paddling back, he wasn’t sure he was going to be able to make it to shore. Finally, (and I’m not entirely clear on this part), when he got in his rig and was driving, everything was going black. This is when an ambulance was called.

If he’s still hospitalized when I get off work today; I’ll go pay him a visit. I’ve already promised my sister who lives over in South Carolina that I’d report back to her.

My Dad was shocked to find out he had pneumonia and told the doctor that he rarely even catches a cold, so he he didn’t understand how he could contract pneumonia. The reality is, with his form of leukemia, his platelet count is too low, the white count is rising, and his immunity is waaaay down.

When he first started telling me what happened, I was worried that it was his heart again. We’ve lost him more than a couple of times and they had to bring him back. Fortunately, this time, it’s not the heart.

Jeebus.

The sun is out and it’s supposed to be very nice. Too bad I’m stuck here at work.

{{{Taters}}} - Your dad’s in the right place now - at least he’s not one of those stubborn types who refuses to go near a hospital… at least not this time. Good thoughts to you and yours!!

Sometimes that “good customer service” is a wallet-lightening in disguise. A couple months ago when I took the car in for an oil change and a state inspection, they changed the oil, patched a tire that had a nail in it for free, and oh by the way, your front tires are worn and can’t pass. They probably hoped I would be so happy about the surprise free tire repair that I’d immediately give them another $500 for the two tires.

Submitting the car as a fail to the state had me trapped. There’s been a sting operation with the state where they investigate cars that fail at one shop then magically pass at another. State inspectors show up at your home to investigate, and more often than not, the shop that passes the car gets into hot water. So, it was off to the used tire shop to get legal for $60 instead of $500.

I’ll still go to this shop for oil changes and maybe if I need new tires, but never again for inspections.

Mornin all,
Just want to say IRK meetings should not have alkyhol, I just left as I committed some grievous sin. All I can say is I was riding so my consumption was rather limited.

REBO I am in the Heights, in the Barrio part. Get yer DH a IRKING on your scooter before they turn the oven on.

More kaffee is req so gotta run for a bit

Bluuuuurf

Ok weird note for the day, NYT has an article in science times about a 27ft(8meter+/-) crocodile that lived with our ancestors and had a mouth that could swallow us whole, yeoowch scary

Got the crossword done and still waiting on parts

:stuck_out_tongue:
Here is my bike three years ago. It has more stuff on it now, but I’ve still never ridden it. Mr Rebo bought it all torn down from a guy whose wife made him get rid of it.

Not quite the bike I expected, a mom chop? Its awesome

Fair warning, my darlings: cover your ears.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrggggggh!!!

Okay, you may uncover them now.

Ah, Cats? Moving?

Stepped on a slug barefoot? :dubious:

Blurf. Bob teh Wonder Pony is having problems with his stifles (the horse equivalent of human knees). He’s old, has arthritis, and the weather has been rainy so I’m sure it’s just temporary but I spent last night and this morning crying. He is on anti-inflammatories but they don’t seem to be working this time. The vet is coming Thursday to give him an IV shot of hylauronic acid. He went through this last year so I hope it’s just a one off (for the year 2012).

I want a cigarette but I quit smoking 4 years ago.
