Oooh… cow tipping.
In Greene County.
I think the only ‘restaurant’ Waynesburg has is a Wendy’s
Paging Juniper200 and Draelin please pick up the read courtsey phone.
How are both you ladies doing?
I’m from New Jersey, single and male 29 and a geek-wanna-be. Never played an RPG except on the coumputers becuase I never found a GM in my area, Love all the Trek series but think Picard is better than Kirk and Sisco is better then Picard. Never got into Enterprise.
I built all my computers except for my first Pacakrd Bell 386 and my C=64 before that. I still know
10 ?“Hi”:g(shift o) 10
Run
will print an endless colums of Hi on a Commodore Vic-20, 64, 128, etc
I love taking long drives in my Aztek buyt hate the gas prices. I have a knack for saying the worst thing at the worst time as well as the most obvious things. My friends tell me I’m chock full of useless knowledge and once I’ve been somewhere I always know how to get back. My musical tastes vairy and you will find me listing to stations on XM over regualr FM radio. I just drove down to VA to see David Bowie in concert. I’m over weight but am losing it.
So how are the two of you doin?
Why hello back so_da_ne! I’ve been to Salt Spring Island before. Close?
And who would have guessed there’d be so many other people on this board (and in this thread even) that live in metro DC! My god, provincial town that this is!
Not true! They also have a lovely little KFC if memory serves. I’ve stopped there once or twice on my way to Columbus and/or that big outlet mall in NW Pennsylvania that I forget the name of at the moment.

Is it too late for me to check in? I may be geographically disadvantaged …
I’ve always thought of Sean Connery as a dramatic Bond, Roger Moore as an adventurous Bond, and Pierce Brosnan as an action Bond. I haven’t seen On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in a while, so I can’t say much about George Lazenby. As for favorites, from Connery I like From Russia With Love and You Only Live Twice, followed closely by most of the rest of Connery’s work; from Moore, my tops are The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only as being highly quotable, and Octopussy as being an all-around winner. I thought the Evil Plans in Goldeneye and The World Is Not Enough were far better than the one in Tomorrow Never Dies – and that John Cleese is a wonderful heir to Desmond Lellwyn as Q.
So special for you, sunfish, last night I reread “Property of a Lady,” and tonight I’ll reread “Octopussy,” both of which are adapted as plot elements of the movie Octopussy. So next time you’re out this way, we’ll get together, watch Octopussy, and go find a place to have vodka martinis (shaken, not stirred).
How does that sound?
Welcome to the party, Purplycow! There’s always room for one more!
Well, distance might be a pain, but one of the glories of electronic communication is that the miles don’t mean a thing.
So come on in and join the party! That goes for anyone else outside North America who feels like chiming in.
You’ve got a deal!
And btw, I saw in another thread you’re heading out to London shortly - have a great time (and say hi to John Cleese for me
).
Here goes!
I’m female, nearly 26, of Chinese descent, 5’4", 125 lbs. Born and bred here in Malaysia, but spent 3 great years in London under the guise of studying for my degree. (sigh … I miss London! I haven’t been able to go back since graduation…)
I read everything (as my bookshelves groaning under the weight of years of accumulated books will testify), but very partial to sci-fi/fantasy (especially George RR Martin, Terry Pratchett, Orson Scott Card) and humour. Fan of Hayao Miyazaki’s creations. Keen on hiking and outdoor activities in general, but because of the weather here I’ve resorted to the gym for regular exercise. I also love choir singing (alto), live music performances (acoustic, some types of jazz, a cappella), and lately I’ve been on a baking spree
Some additional trivia about me -
I’m highly ticklish. Don’t poke my ribs/sides in public if you don’t want to be embarrassed by my violent reactions
I can only wink with my right eye. My friends tried teaching me to wink with my left eye but I always ended up blinking instead.
And I don’t know how to whistle either :o
Would post a photo, but I’ve got to find a free image hosting site first …
Oh, and my choice of race in Warcraft III is night elf!
See, that’s what you get for having a life!
BWAH HA HA! Could be a new dance craze! The Spastic Twitch!
Let’s twitch again, like we did last summer…Yea, let’s twitch again like we did last year
I do like the way you think
Ditto. The other stuff is just cream. In our meeting yesterday I was congratulated for having every case selected by the Feds come through clean (they double check our work, and we lose funding if we have errors). She decided to take some of the honors herself. I asked her what work did she complete on the case. “uhhhh…”
So, Etherman, tell us more about yourself?
Aww, I think the Geospizas are cuties…but then again, I love all birds, even the ugly ones! I wonder if there are any other birders on the Dope?
Hey ataraxy22, another DC-area Doper here. Why have’t we seen you at any recent MAD (Mid-Atlantic Doper) Fests? Well maybe we’ll see you at AnitaVacation’s shindig (in Falls Church VA):
MAD syzygy- FairyChatMom, Oxymoron, and May 30th
LilMiss and I are birdwatchers, but not hard core. Here at home we have mallards that live in our yard, along with a decent murder of crows (we average 8-12 crows at any time in our yard). We also have the usual sparrows, wrens, cardinals, bluejays, robins, etc.
When we lived in a more country setting we were caretakers for a family of grackles that lived in our air conditioner. Out there we would spend the evening on the deck id’ing birds. We also had three red tail hawks that lived nearby. A morning was not complete unless we saw at least one perched on the streetlight.
But the big ‘whoo-hoo’ is up at the cabin. We have catbirds, vireos, loons, swans, cranes, and my favorite- the comic of the bird family (IMO) swallows. Have you ever seen the Pixar short For the Birds? Reminds me of them.
Aw, what’d you have to go and do that for?
Not surprising, really. Seems everyone is bailing for other locales.
Sheesh! all these available nerdy lady dopers, and not a ONE in the Deep South (unless I missed someone)… ah, well… I guess it IS rare to have a quality nerd/geek/techno-goob somewhere as cool Verbena, Alabama…
anyway
[ladies’ man] OOO! Hello, Ladies! [/ladies’ man]
and even though the closest I have ever been to Maylasia is oh… about a half a world away… I would consider it an honour to be the first to toss out the obligitory “How You Doin’?” to purplycow
so…
purplycow…
wait for it
How You Doin’?

Hi nyctea scandiaca. Hmm, I know what a Haliaeetus leucocephalus is, but nothing more.
I never have gone to a “MAD Fest” because I am an eccentric mute recluse. Err, rather it’s because I was only vaguely aware of such things until recently. Sounds like fun though, 'cept I’ll be in Tennessee that day. (Perhaps there’s one there on May 30th as well?) Maybe I’ll try to make the next MAD one.
verbenabeast: *Sheesh! all these available nerdy lady dopers, and not a ONE in the Deep South (unless I missed someone)… *
Hmph, you could’ve given me a “How ya doing?” 5 months ago, when I was living in Mississippi, but you wait till now to complain about the lack of single Southern female nerdy Dopers, after I move to the Northeast!
well… a happy hound-dawg long-rang “how YOU doin’”? goes out to Mississippienne… way up north…
dad gummit

I’m in the deep south but alas, I’ll be moving north in less than a month.
