I’ve been reading spoilers over at the TWOP board, but they’re getting to be too accurate, so I’ve stopped. (That doesn’t make sense, does it?)

Great episode. The chemistry between Brenda/Rachel and Billy/Jeremy makes me wish Sisto had been cast in Nate’s role from the start. They’re the hottest brother-sister combo since Donny and Marie. :stuck_out_tongue: (I know, it’s twisted.)

Gonna be sad to see this show end. Everybody remember the In Memoriam special Monday night!

Hey, I finally predicted a spoiler accurate, re: George and Ruth. Was wrong about Maggie, but not surprised. I knew she couldn’t be as sweet and wonderful as she seemed.

I have no idea how this thing is going to end.

Next to the last episode and I finally wonder-- have any of the family ever gone to a doctor for help? I vaguely recall David might have seen someone after the attack/kidnapping, but that’s it.

I want to know what it means that Billy said he was what Brenda would look like if she were a boy. It seemed a wise move to have Billy stay elsewhere.

Otherwise, so much got started or moved a step ahead in this episode that I only have a sense that everybody except Ruth is leaving. On a bus, another job, out of their minds…

If you have “On Demand” (along with digital cable in many markets) you can see the In Memoriam two-part program now. I watched it twice already. Good show. There’s even a “cut by cut” feature about the editing of the show on On Demand as well.

I was impressed how Vanessa carried herself during the funeral. Her and Rico could do a nice job running their own place. Diaz and Sons maybe?

Claire is my favorite character. Her going to work drunk made me mad that she is that weak. Her ranting at the dead soldier’s family was absurd. Drunk or not, I can’t see her going off on a client after living there her whole life. No idea what they will do with her in the end.

Good for George, I hope him and Ruth get to keep Maya.

Brenda dreaming about Billy was really creepy. Hopefully she will crump during labor and Ruth and George raise two kids.

Dammit! The hotel I’m staying at right now (and for the next 2 weeks) doesn’t have HBO.

I’m torn between reading all about the shows here, or waiting to watch them in reruns when I get home.

:frowning:

I’ve watched every episode of every season so far and, here at the end, for some reason, I’m like … meh. I could care less about the characters and what happens to them.

Bring back Carnivale.

Good thing there is only one episode left as this episode made me hate both David and Claire. Neither one was all that close to Nate while he was alive…Nate sort of floated in and out of their lives, but mostly out. Now you would think he was their rock of Gibralter.

By the end of the episode, I wanted to slap both of them silly. It has been 6 weeks since Nate died (as per David’s comment). Get a f’king grip already!

Will be interested to see how the series finale pans out, but after the antics of this week, I almost don’t care if they all burn to death in a horrible Fisher Funeral Home fire.

If Ruth wanted to fight for custody of Maya through the courts, what standing does Brenda have? She’s not the mother, so did she adopt Maya? (Of course there is the possibility that Nate isn’t even her father, but let’s leave that aside.)

And when Rico had to call Vanessa to help him with the funeral, I wondered how he and David have been able to run the place with only two people. I would think you’d need a couple more people even if David hadn’t skipped that funeral.

And Claire’s yelling at the mother of the dead soldier was so, so inappropriate.

When those scenes were happening, the S.O. and I would look at each other and say “what parental rights does she even have with respect to Maya?”

It’s a good question and I really hope someone on these boards has the answer, because it’s driving me nuts. I doubt in the short time they’ve been married, Brenda went through any formal adoption proceedings or even bothered to become a legal guardian (she was just her stepmom, usually stepparents don’t go through the whole guardian process, unless I’m mistaken).

Please, someone with the answers, share!

If Brenda did not adopt Maya and if Nate didn’t include provisions in his will, I think there could be one big custody mess (and could be one anyway). Don’t forget that there are also Lisa’s parents to consider, and if Maya really isn’t Nate’s biological daughter, that really confuses things. I thought when Billy said he found Maya’s medical history, we might get some insight into that issue.

I kept hoping that someone – particularly David – would slap Claire, hard. I agree that both David and Claire seemed to be freaking out a lot six weeks after Nate’s death.

I thought there were two interesting developments at the end. First was the turnaround of David and Keith’s roles related to the kids. At the beginning, it was David who was the calming influence and Keith who was the scary one. That has now switched. Second was Claire’s situation. I think she made have finally hit bottom and is ready to start on a new life. I think her decision to sell the hearse (a symbol of her connection to her family and the funereal business) was a turning point, emphasized by her getting on a bus to whereever. I think she’s just leaving everything behind and moving on.

Instead of Carnivale, we’ll be getting HBO’s Roman Empire series. Yawn.

And what was with Claire going off on that lady about her SUV. That hearse Claire was driving prolly had a big block with 4 bbl carb. That SUV prolly got double the gas mileage of that hearse.

I thought of that as well.

Not to mention a lot fewer emissions.

Did anyone else have a momentary “Oh, shit!” moment when, right after Claire rolled the hearse, they faded to the white screen for a second leading into the next scene? I was half expecting to see “Claire Fisher 1983 (or whenever)-2005”.

I was right there for that one and IIRC there was a similar moment when Brenda’s water broke and she went to her knees. I could be wrong on that one, but there was another such moment other than Claire’s. Those guys (writers) are having fun jerking chains these last few episodes, knowing we all are anticipating their tricks. Clever bastards!

Well, that was painful. Rather true to the grieving process some go through, esp. with Claire and David. I remember someone saying at my grandfather’s funeral that those who were closest to him, and those that were farthest away, took it the hardest. Grieving for missed opportunities, in Claire’s case, perhaps. David obviously saw Nate as both a threat AND his protector (remember the first season, and he was so threatened by Nate’s involvement in the business?).

I like Ruth when she’s being a mom. That scene with Nate talking to her over Maya just broke my heart.

I think David will sell his shares of the biz to Rico. I’m not sure of Nate’s share – who exactly would “own” those? Brenda? Ruth? I’m sure this will be an issue in the final episode. David should get out and let Keith take care of him until he gets mentally healthier. Really, David needs professional help.

Just saw part of the memorium – I’ll have to rewatch it.
