Smarter minds and, uh, butts in the MMP

Yowtch!

Sorry you got stabbed for nuthin’.

I’ve eaten scrambled eggs, had a quick shower, and just pulled on some compression socks, which means imma hafta wear long pants tonight. (The knee-high socks look ridiculous with shorts.)
The loose, lightweight pants I like best for a hot kitchen have no pockets.
Woe be unto me!

Charm got her snack, and I’ve packed a yogurt to take with me.

I may likely check in with y’all in the middle of the night as I wind down, or else I’ll crash posthaste and catch y’all tomorrow. We shall see.

Averaged 3.22 mph today.

You need to decorate them! Or maybe tie-dye? Glitter glue? Are you artistic enough to make a snek coiling up your leg? More ideas on request…

FCD is heading to Ocala on Sunday and he’ll probably be down there about a week. I’m sending half a smoked chicken, a hunk of chuck roast, and a couple of poke chops. Plus we’ll go to the local farmer’s market and see about some 'maters and maybe corn and peaches and whatever else might be available. He’ll leave stupid early and drive straight thru. I hate that he has to do this alone, but with her new job, my daughter doesn’t need the stress of finding a sitter on short notice.

So I’ll be without adult supervision for a week…

Tomorrow, I’ll do a load of shorts and shirts for him to pack. And we’re going down to the boat to do some stuff. Beyond that, just gonna wing it.

Ugh. I have teeny tiny veins so I feel your pain. It’s why I took the suggestion to get a port and did.

Maybe ask for a different person? Some people seem to have the knack.

Howdy Y’all! Aside from goin’ to feed at the hog trough Golden Corral it has been a day of high and holy sloth at da cave. It’s been rainy off and on. Matter of fact ‘tis rainin’ as I post. We enjoyed afternoon cocktails (sounds fancier than day drinkin’) on the back porch whilst takin’ in a tstorm.

MOOOOOOM sorry FCD has to go deal with this. Here’s hopin’ he can talk sense into them and that they’ll make the move.

tappy glad you’re here. Stay and play!

FCM Sorry about the in-laws. Hope FCD has an uneventful trip.

Shoe Do they make fish-net compression socks? Kinda sexy it up in the kitchen.

Flyboy Nice walkin’. I do enough walking and lifting around the shop so’s I don’t do much exercise outside of work. But back when I was a younger lad, I did about 3.5 mph.

doggio One must always look where one puts one’s beer. Both to not forget where you left it and for stray mammals.

Was a day of some good and some bad in the shop today. Finished the murphy doors. I dunno if that is the real name for them or just a brand. Anyway, french doors for a closet that have built it bookshelves and tilt out hampers. Gotta install on moanday. But the RFID testing came to a complete standstill. I can change a little bit of info on the chips, but have no way to get that info out as a usable input. Gotta order more prototype parts.

Now I’m gonna sloth all weekend, unless I get inspired to make something cool…I have the beginnings of an idea. Could be a couple $K.

I’m tiiiiiiired so am resting up before heading to the gym. I walked friend’s pupper. Good thing I brought along plenty of bags. I seem to have this effect on dogs. Hey, everyone’s got a super-power. As usual, dog wanted to go up the stairs to the slide. This time, though, she stood at the top shifting her weight, so I thought she really wanted to go down. I sat down so she could ride on my lap. Then I slid down two feet. She changed her mind. I couldn’t just slide down because I didn’t want to let go of her leash. It was an awkward climb back up, made harder by the fact I kept dissolving in giggles.

I trekked to the eye clinic. Boy, was Melissa surprised to see me! She said she talked to the company yesterday, and they said they shipped the lens, so it should arrive any day now. I asked what the hold-up was, and she rolled her eyes and said the old company doesn’t make the lens any more but didn’t want to give my measurements to the new company, and other stuff. When I go pick up the lens, I’ll tell her when I leave a VM, I really need her to call me back in a timely manner. I mean, I called four days ago!

Mooooom, hope FCD has a smooth trip and a productive visit. I feel so sorry for him.

This is genius.

silenus, eighties fashion! Yeesh! Like you, I think it was ridiculous enough the first time around, from the preppie look, to parachute pants. Hope that the kids have fun though.

I hope that FCD has a good, safe trip Mooooooom. Things will be much easier if / when the in-laws get moved closer to you.

Got everything done today. It rained hard this afternoon, so no dog park. I did get a call from the shelter in the old town looking for volunteers to walk beagles rescued from a puppy mill in Virginia (they get animals from situations like that, hoarders and disaster evacuees). I’ll go up for three hours tomorrow. Beagles tend to be fun little guys.

I made a good patty melt for supper with some nuked broccoli on the side. I’m fixing to make a pan of popcorn shortly with some set aside before seasoning for Nelson.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:
This cracked me up!

It’s been a lazy evening. We’ll be going to Kohl’s tomorrow since it appears they have the shoes FCD wants in his size. So we have that to look forward to…

shoe: - not fishnet, but not white or boring.

Making dinner and watching some preseason football.

Somebody made Skittlebrau
“Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”

Nah, the only time she irked was after I petted a friend’s dog at Thanksgiving

Yes they are(the local beagle rescue has a bunch of those rescue beagles, too)

That’s something for me to aspire to!

We went down to Bay Breeze for dinner. The Spousal Unit got a bowl of clam chowder and a Bay Breeze (vodka, cranberry juice, and pineapple juice); and I got a Bay Breeze Burger (cheeseburger with onion rings & BBQ sauce), salad instead of fries, and a Manhattan. She put too much pepper in her chowder, and it set off her bronchitis. She had to leave, and nearly chundered her chowder. I finished my salad, half of my burger, and both of our drinks. She’s eating pumpkin seeds now.

Before we left the house (I was moving cars), a guy with a heavy Eastern European (Russian or Ukrainian) accent stopped in front of the house. He was looking for the ‘slide water’ (waterslides) so he could find his way back to the freeway. He barely spoke any English. I told him to go to the end of the street, turn right at the stop sign, then turn right at the next stop sign, and then turn left at the next stop sign. He repeated the instructions as I was pulling up a map on my phone. I asked if he would like to follow me (I had to use hand signs), and he said he thought he was OK.

They said I had a nice big vein, but it wouldn’t stay put. Kept “rolling over,” as he put it.

Evening all. Soccer with the 9-year olds has been practiced, I have an assistant coach this year so good for that, we got about a hour of practice in and then 30 minutes more with the goalies, so hopefully we’ll be ready to play tomorrow. I start at 8:30am with refereeing and then the kids play at 11:00am (10U) and 1:00pm (12U), so that should make it a full day. Will have to get all the stuff out tonight so I don’t forget anything tomorrow. Supposed to get to 92F, so lots of water breaks for the kids (and the coaches).

flyboy, directions can be a pain, especially if in an unfamiliar language. Glad you were able to help.

red, if I weren’t a 100 miles away I’d take a beagle for a walk.

nellie, glad things worked out with both doggie and Melissa.

Wheelie, was wincing all the time I was reading your report. Hasn’t happened to me very often, but given how I hate pointy objects (especially pointy at me), doubt I would be as calm as you were.

FCM, sounds like your doing the best thing, hope this time it takes on them. Maybe convince them that moving closer they can enjoy your good food more often…

Bumba, Gibbs is a very lucky fellow. And sloth after work is good.

I laughed out loud at that–thank you. (oh, and by the way, it’s Montresor).

To all others, hugs, cheer, boos (not our Boo) and general positive waves to all.

Now need to forage for my dinner.

I hope I did. I would have felt better if he’d taken me up on my offer. Though we were gong for dinner, it would have just meant we went to the beach ⅔ of a mile further than if we’d just driven down the hill.

The bum knee is acting up, that’d be the one with screws in it, not the one that just had chunks of meniscus taken out. Could be the t-storms rolling through. Or it could be I’s just gettin old…er.

Oooohhhh. Rolling veins are the worst. My sympathies.

One of mine has screws and a rod in it. The other is missing part of the patella and the patellar tendon.

I’m (finally) home. Damn, that was a long evening. But, I learned yet another new station today - who knew there are so many roles involved in making pizza? - so hopefully the G.M. is suitably impressed, as they did say a raise would come along with me learning to handle different roles.

Tonight, I “finished” the pizzas, which involves reading the tickets (and my god, one of the girls who often takes phone orders has atrocious handwriting, even the seasoned veterans are constantly asking her to clarify orders) and putting the various toppings (half this, extra that, etc.)
Until now, I’ve mostly “started” the pizzas, which -once you get the basic skill down, is stupid simple. Sauce and cheese, sauce and cheese. Small, medium, eighteen thousand larges. Sauce and cheese. Sauce and cheese. Make more sauce. Go fetch another tub of cheese from the walk-in. Sauce and cheese. Make yet anothet batch of sauce.
Tonight’s end of things involves much more brainwork, which was a nice change.

Oh, and I was at the drive-thru register part of the night, too. Oddly, for an introvert, I really enjoy it. Brief interactions, nearly all of them pleasant - peeps be happy to get their dinner - and I’ve already gotten a lot of positive feedback: customers telling me how sweet I am and such silliness.

I totally would, but they’re 91% nylon/9% spandex. Cotton takes dyes far better than manmade fabrics, especially the stretchy kind. (I think. I’ll ask around.)

I’d look like a stuffed sausage!

Man, I don’t know WHAT my manager would say if I showed up in fishnets …

Oh, man, the horrors. Slouch socks - especially two contrasting colors on each foot, one over the other. Leg warmers! (I guess everyone had cold feet in the 80s.) Ponytails on the side of your head. And the unholy multicolored peacock shades of eyeshadow!

Those are really cool looking!

I’m sorry she had an unpleasant evening, but this turn of phrase made me giggle.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

We like brainwork.

Jesus, I’m barely home from my job and you’re heading out to yours?
