Smarter minds and, uh, butts in the MMP

Up earlier than I wanted, but I did sleep straight thru and was spared stoopit dreams. Some running around is on the agenda for today, getting FCD ready to go south. I do so hate that he has to make the drive alone, but I’m equally glad I don’t have to go. Tho if it wasn’t for the grands, I’d be with him.

Anyway, we’ll try to get him some new sneaks today, and we’ll stop at the local farm for fresh goodies to go. I’ll do some laundry. Not sure what else - maybe a run to the boat??

But the day isn’t starting well - my Diet Coke is dead flat! Totally bubble free!!! Oh, the horror!!!

:scream:  :sob:

Then again, the day can only get better, right?

Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (mostly moony?) with a predicted high of 90 with rain, tstorms, apocalypse predicted for the day. We shall see. Outside of much sloth, don’t know what the day may hold. I could make a run to :astonished:Wally*World :astonished: for some needed items, but I also could put that off until next week sometime bein’ as said items are not items we are in dire need of havin’. Any need to feed will be via forage as we have plenty of sammich makin’s, chips, etc and also cause I don’t wanna cook.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning (growlgrump). As always happens when something is starting (in this case the youth soccer season) and I have an early (well, 8:30am) game, I set the alarm with two settings to be sure to get up in time…and then can’t sleep worth a damn, cause I’m afraid I’ll miss the alarm/the alarm won;t go off. So I’m awake at 1:00am and sleep off and on until 6am. Never needed the alarms. Just hope I can stay awake for the games.

shoe, glad the job is more interesting/challenging. That’s a big plus right there. Good luck reading the handwriting.

OK, need to find some sustenance and get myself dressed for refereein’. All y’all have a great Sattiday.

doggio, your local beagle rescue likely got some of the beagles from Virginia too. There were ~4K of them. :frowning:

metal mouse, you may want to check in with your local shelter, they may have gotten some of the Virginia beagles. Even if they didn’t, they likely wouldn’t turn down another volunteer to walk dogs and socialize cats.

I’m glad the new gig is going well for you shoe. Da Jungle has some tie dyed compression stockings as well as the ones that Moooooom linked to. They aren’t all dull, grandma-esque things.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I need to be at the shelter by 1100 to walk / play with the dogs, so I likely should get moving. I’ll have to give Nelson some special attention when I get home, lest he think that I cheated on him. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning, everyone…I’ve read everything…lots going on with my fellow Mumpers at the moment! :two_hearts:

I’m currently hanging out in the BMW dealership. I brought my car in for scheduled brake fluid service, and after the standard inspection they recommended also having a wheel alignment and tire rotation/balance. It’s been 8500 miles and I did feel like I noticed a possible alignment issue on the way here, so I said “do it.” At least the brake fluid part is covered under my maintenance plan! They are seriously understaffed today: I had a 9:00 appointment and they didn’t even check me in until 9:25. At first they estimated an 11:00 completion time, but with the extra work now they’re saying noon. Luckily, I planned ahead and brought a banana and a protein bar (and my noon meds) just in case. I have no other real plans today. I have a couple of returns to make at the mall near my house, so at most I’ll do that on the way home. Maybe.

Thanks to everyone for the English football feedback! I decided to go all-in on Harrogate Town, and even ordered a t-shirt (the international shipping is twice as much as the shirt itself, but oh well!). If I ever watch a match that Middlesbrough is in, though, I might quietly root for them as well. I finished watching All or Nothing: Manchester City, and decided to start the New Zealand All Blacks season before watching the Tottenham Hotspurs one. I also watched the first two episodes of Welcome to Wrexham, which premiered Wednesday evening. It’s fun getting to hear Welsh and Kiwi accents in addition to various English accents.

My second guest vocalist gig on Thursday night went very well! Also lots of fun, though with a totally different crowd/vibe from last Friday’s show (not better or worse, just different). I have no other performances scheduled at the moment, but someone mentioned inviting me to guest at one of his regular gigs. I’m trying to decide how interested I am…whether I want to be proactive and contact him/check out one of his shows there, or if I’d rather just wait and see if he ever reaches out. My thoughts on the matter change every few hours. I’ll think twice before going out on a weeknight again, though. I was sooo tired yesterday! And I woke up a little early today to come to the dealership…there could well be nappage in my future.

I feel like there’s more mundane and pointless stuff I’ve been meaning to share, but I can’t think of any of it at the moment. Lucky for you guys.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 58 degrees and cloudy with an expected high of 72 and cloudy to mostly cloudy skies all day. There’s even a 15 percent chance of rain at some point during the day.

I’m glad the new job is going well for you, shoe.

I hope FCD finds the shoes he wants, FCM. I also hope the drive to and from Florida is uneventful.

I contacted Samsung yesterday and they don’t even make the replacement part for my icemaker anymore. I was just going to buy a new one and pop it in myself, but noooooo, now I have to have a technician come out and assess it and replace it or the malfunctioning part in the ice maker. It’s the whole freakin’ thing. There have been numerous consumer complaints and even class action lawsuits because of these crappy icemakers in the Samsung fridges. DON’T EVER GET ONE. At any rate, if it turns out it’s the icemaker (IT IS, DAMN IT), the service call and part are free. If not, I pay. Either way, I would have had to pay, but it would have been much cheaper to replace the damn thing myself.

I am not sure what I have on the agenda today. I need to call Dania furniture and find out where the hell the ottoman I ordered in FEBRUARY is. It’s been more than six months.

It’s always something and life could be worse and these are just little annoyances in the scheme of things, but they are still annoyances that require some kind of action when I would rather direct that energy elsewhere.

I’m glad your vocalist gig went well, misnomer.

Well, I need some yogurt and a 'nanner, so I’ll quit boring you all here. I hope you all have a terrific day!

I peeled the potatoes for breakfast, and got out a knife and a cutting board so make the home fries. Wait… You don’t peel potatoes for home fries. So I’m making hashbrowns to go with our cackleberries and deadpig strips.

SPAM® and cackleberries mañana.

Dammit. The fridge we’re heavily leaning toward for our new house is a Samsung. What model do you have?

Yay! It’s Saturday! I don’t know why that makes me happy, since I’m retired–long childhood years of it being the one day I didn’t have to get up early for school or church, I guess. I need to walk to the PO to find out why the parcel of little gifts I sent to my great-nephew came back postage due when the PO kiosk determined and printed the postage. And I’ll get to the gym.

My hands are hurting again. Hmph. Not sure what to do.

I believe the customary male response is

<pant, pant> Hubba-hubba! <drool, drool> :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, jelly shoes, rolled-up jacket sleeves (for guys), and shoulder pads the NFL envied.

MetalMouse, hope you stay awake! I’m the same way when I have to set an alarm.

It’s the french door, freezer on the bottom style. This is the model number: RF28HDEDBSR/AA

Except for the icemaker, it’s a nice fridge and does the job for us.

Okay, one with the day.

Listening via my iPad to local am radio broadcasting my beloved Cornhuskers play :rugby_football: vs. Northwestern in Ireland. We scored a touchdown on our first possession! Go Big Red! :football::corn::football:

I heaved. I bought olives from Aldi. I took Gordie out. The neighbor’s dog ran up and sniffed his butt. He had a cow. Laundry and eggs are going(in separate machines  :fried_egg: :socks:).

“Every morning eat a live frog when you first get up. That was the day can only get better.”

Yep, Brown never sleeps!

Oopsie, I’d check out a show, then maybe call if it looks like your jam.

I have a Samsung fridge. Had to have a repair guy out here about a month ago, and he spent the entire service call b!tching about how many problems Samsung fridges have. (Apparently, whatever was going on with mine is a very common issue.)

Back home again! We had a nice breakfast out, then found a pair of shoes for FCD - he’s 4E width, so that’s the challenge - him and his Fred Flintstone feet… Then we drove by the new facility for the company we used to work for - it’s going to open soon. I’m going to contact former coworkers and ask for a tour! It’s an impressive building!

Next stop was a garden center in Leonardtown to look at crape myrtles and assorted spreading junipers. I figure I’ll need at least $1-1.5K to get what I want. So that ain’t happening soon. Last stop was the farm store for 'maters and peaches.

There’s a load in the dryer so FCD has all clean clothes to pack. We just went over all the money numbers that he’ll discuss with his folks. Apparently his mom has already said (to her sister) that they may need to move to Maryland. So maybe…

Anyway, not much else on the agenda today. We’ll move the dining room table into the living room tonight so I can shampoo the carpet tomorrow. SIL can help me move the table back.

That pretty much sums it up.

Oh, yeah, and Roxy has her first gymnastics class today. She had a ball!! Stand back, Simone Biles!!!

Plus side: DH is feeling a good deal better. Minus side: my temperature’s over 99 degrees, with attendant discomfort. Sinuses are also staging a rebellion, throat’s not much better, and I’ve done so much coughing and sneezing recently that my rib muscles ache. I still don’t think I have Covid, given those three negative tests after onset of my symptoms. Love to know what I do have.

Allie and Misty are about like normal, and Allie insisted on being a teddy kitty for a little bit this morning. Buddy’s pretty much his usual self. As I type, he’s happily snoozing in the dryer.

My mother sent me a message yesterday:

1a.) My 80-something-plus dad has the 'Rona,
and
2b.) My mother is flying out tomorrow for a 4-week stay in Poland (“the old country” where her sisters, surviving neices, and other assorted kinfolk are) and
3c.) I’m not sure what to do with this information.

I’m at a loss myself. For one thing, I’d guess Dad needs someone around, for another Mom’s likely to be carrying the virus to the people she’s visiting, some of whom must be along in years if they’re of her generation (not to mention any younger ones who might be pregnant or have health issues).

I hope I won’t offend you, but this situation makes your mother come across as quite self-centered and indifferent to the NEEDS of others if they interfere with her WANTS.

The Spousal Unit put on ‘true crime’ shows on ID. She says it’s pretty sad she has to put on true crime shows to get away from (our usual) David Attenborough’s depressing nature series.

There’s a graphic in the top corner of the screen: ‘Wives With Knives’. I said they should have a series called Sons With Guns, and another called Daughters Who Slaughter. I haven’t thought of one for dads…

@purplehorseshoe can you explain to your mother that she will probably be carrying Covid to her loved ones in Poland? Plus whatever opinions Poland has about visitors and tests and vaccination histories?

Hopefully he has consulted with a doctor (or pharmacist) about whether Paxlovid would be a good idea for him, to reduce the nastiness of his infection and prevent serious illness.

Here’s hoping he’ll have a brief and gentle course of illness.

Laundry is done, folded, and awaiting packing. FCD is filling his meds carriers. He wants to get up at 3 and be on the road by 4, so no sleeping for me - tho I may well go back to bed after he heads out. This doth sucketh.

shoe, if I may opine - your mom sounds like a piece of work. Hope your dad doesn’t have a bad case of plague.
