Great. Just great. I’ve been symptomatic as long as DH has (milder), had negative tests Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Was feeling better yesterday, woke up feeling a good deal worse today.
Positive Covid test. (grump)

Howdy Y’all! As predicted earlier, today has been a day of most high and holy sloth. We have enjoyed it immensely. It’s been rainy off and on which makes for good weather to sit on the back porch and quaff adult beverages.
Pops with Chops? Yeah, I got nuttin’.
Well, they lost . Oh, well~it wasn’t embarrassing, lost by 3 points, 28-31. Still love Go Big Red
!!
Sorry about the positivity, nettie! (not actually hugging you, because of the cooties) I hope the “good deal worse” clears up soon.
At 12:40 I got tired of sitting around the dealership’s waiting room, so I texted my service guy for an update and…the car was done! But it was another 10-15 min before he could do the checkout. They were slammed today. It was only my third time there since buying the car (in January 2020; I only have ~8500 miles on it), but it seems that they are always both understaffed and super busy. Part of me will be sad when my warranty and maintenance plan both expire in January and I have to start paying for every little thing, but most of me will be happy to start going back to the place I used for my old car: great service, I trust them, and they’re an authorized BMW shop but will charge far less than the dealership.
I surprised myself by actually going to the mall afterwards. If anyone had been taking bets, I would have put money on going straight home. I successfully returned both items, and avoided doing any shopping except for going to the Swarovski store. I always have to stop in there, and I usually find something to buy! Today it was two pairs of earrings. Overpriced bling, but it makes me happy.
Speaking of overpriced, I bought myself an Aeron desk chair. It was delivered on Thursday afternoon. I’m fairly short, plus I frequently have tailbone pain, and my research indicated that the “small” version of this chair was the best option for both issues. With teleworking looking more and more like it’s here to stay, I decided it was worth investing in a really good chair. So far I’m very happy with it, and I haven’t had to use my tailbone cushion with it! It arrived fully assembled, which I greatly appreciated but which resulted in having a really big (41” x 28” x 29.5”) empty box. Happily, one of my neighbors was interested in using it as a fort for their toddlers and they picked it up a couple of hours ago.
Since getting home from the mall I’ve been binge-watching All or Nothing: New Zealand All Blacks. I’m on the last episode of their season. It’s good that I keep my iPad on the coffee table, because I keep having to look up things about rugby…I still don’t fully grasp the rules/exactly what’s going on! I’ve enjoyed the exposure to a new-to-me sport (and rugby players are fun to look at!), but I’m looking forward to getting back to English football with All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur.
taters, Samsung has a subpar reputation for most appliances. This may be informational for you too wheelie.
shoe, SMDH about your mom. Do you think she’d listen to reason?
{{{seanette}}} With any luck, the worst of the plague is over.
I walked / played with four beagles today. It was fun, but they wore me out. Those little guys are energetic as they come. Once I got home, I took Nelson to the dog park so’s he wouldn’t feel left out.
Now, I’m eating a tuna melt quesadilla, SEC style, some cottage cheese and 'maters. I may make a batch of popcorn again tonight for a snack.
Howdy all. Not one of my greater days of soccer, refereed at 8:30am and had to tell a coach “I Ref, You Coach” for questioning my calls several times. Then ran to the sportin’ goods store for some goalie gloves and to Kroger for Gatorade and Capri Sun for the 10U post-game, and then coached boys 10U (lost 1-5) and boys 12U (lost 1-7). Did I mention it was 84F at 8:30 and got to 95F later, with almost no clouds in the sky and the sun feeling like it was about a mile and a half away. And of course I left my water in the car, so had almost nothing to drink while coaching (and had to referee 3/4 of the 12U game since we had no ref). Upshot was I had to sit down for the 4th quarter since I was worried that I might literally pass out from heat exhaustion. Managed to finish the game OK, then had to walk back to the 10U field (about 200 yards) to get my car and drive back to the 12U field to pick up my stuff.
So finishing a liter of water in the time in took me to drive home shouldn’t be a surprise…I’m feeling OK now, but really can’t wait for Fall to kick in down here.
Nettie, seems like it was inevitable that you were going to get a positive reading; might want to try again and see if it comes up negative like the previous ones.
shoe, who is going to be taking care of your Dad while Mom is in Poland? And like BBBoo said, Poland might not let her in if she’s honest about it…
FCM, wishing safe travels to FCD. And would have loved to see pics/film of Roxy as a budding gymnast.
Just checked and I have a GE Refrigerator…no problems to date.
Oopsie, probably a good idea to do the alignment and rotation; I tend to do them every 8,000-10,000 miles. And once you have the T-shirt, you’ll need a scarf to go with it…
red, thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look into that (with soccer 5 days a week, time is an issue).
OK, probably should take a nice hot bath and a nice long nap followed by a nice filling dinner (so far I have had the instant breakfast package and two tiny Cheeto bags for solid food today–but plenty of liquids.
Take care all.
There’s one on my FB page. Most of the pics were kinda blurry, and I didn’t post the videos, which were adorbs…
FCD plans an early bedtime so he can leave early. I plan to read in my recliner while he snoozes. I figure I’ll go back to bed after he leaves. Then, who knows…
When I was getting radiation treatment after you signed in they had you go to a private waiting room and had one of the David Attenborough miniseries playing on the ginormous TV. One day just as the tech arrived he saw me watching the TV as a snow leopard made a graphic killing. He looked up at all the blood and the dead whatever and said “mayyyyyybe not the best thing for us to be showing”.
An elderly neighbour (90s?) is always out walking her elderly dog. She came up the hill from the beach, the dog’s paws wet with mud. She had a cat named Tigger who would follow them, at least part of the way, on their walks. We haven’t seen Tigger is a while, so we asked her about her. She said she thinks she’s dead. She found intestines, fur, and a blue collar one day. We do get coyotes in the neighbourhood.
Tigger was a real sweetie.
Walked to the PO, then to the store that has the coffee flavoring I like, then to the gym, and then came home and walked the Divine Miss M. That dog is so smart. The only time I don’t make her heel is when she’s seeking out the perfect place to, uh, make a deposit. So she just kept acting like there was an Imminent Event until I finally caught on.
Well, we can’t have that. Can you duct tape the water bottle to your arm? We need our MetalMouse.
nettie, if good wishes can cure people, you ought to be over the COVID crud fast, as a lot of us are wishing you well.
oopsie, congrats on the new chair!
red, beagle puppies sound like sooooo much fun! I take it Nelson forgave you.
That’s sad about Tigger flyboy.
Nelson did, indeed, forgive me nellie. right now, he’s begging for a treat (he knows how to work it
).
I napped, and it monsooned. Drinking a gin&tonic. Also, my broken phone’s battery finally died after 2 weeks.
They settle down round age 12. Ask me how I know this.
Feel better, nettie.
shoe, uhhh. our mother might need a clue.
shoe, knowing from your previous posts how self-absorbed and stubborn your mother is, I don’t think there’s anything much you could do. I hope she’s not planning on leaving your father alone all that time.
You deserve a sweet, steadfast mother who always sees the best in you. You didn’t get that, and I’m so sorry. You really do deserve it.
Truth. No Samsung. No Samsung TVs, while we’re at it.
I volunteer! Chose me, chose me!!
Our neighbour, D, is, as I said, elderly. Another (now deceased) neighbour said she was ‘seeing’ another (long-deceased) neighbour. He said she had a PhD in something. I can’t remember when she didn’t have her yellow lab. I worry because A) She’d old; and B) her dog is old. She’s not sociable. She lets people pet her dog, but I’ve never really spoken with her – although I’ve petted her dog on numerous occasions. I know she’s a Liberal, which is nice up here.
Had a nappage that lasted over 2 hours, have finally eaten dinner and am staying up late enough to get tired again so I can sleep well tonight.
More tomorrow when I finally get in the tub with my sunburn…you;ll probably here me across the states…
That’d be like being offended that the sky is blue, or that the sun rose in the east.
BAD DADS!
He confirmed to me today that he’s already taking it.
That’s like telling you, “You sound super productive.”
What, did you catch it from my dad?
Aeron chairs are pretty awesome. Glad your butt is comfy AND that you found a lovely way to repurpose the box. Betcha those were some happy kiddos.
Heheh. LOL. Nay, in fact verily, I shall ROFLMAO.
“Listen to reason.” Bwah-hah-hah!
You are one lucky lady! (And I’m sure those 4 pups felt lucky, too.) What a lovely way to enrich ALL y’alls lives.
My mother is the queen, nay, the international grand champion, of telling people what they want to hear, if it suits her purposes.
I probably should not have found this as funny as I did.
… where’s that handbasket?
If you were married to someone like that for decades, wouldn’t you look forward to some peace and quiet?
Sure, you seem nice!
You want two Mom’s? You don’t want to live with me cause AZ=way too hot, but I will be all supportive and shit. Plus, I need someone to leave all my needlepoint stuff to. You sound perfect!
Our interwebz are still iffy, but I have learned that our smart phones can still call 911 even if the data is off. We need to didn’t try it, it was a news alert. We were wondering why we were getting flood warnings when we couldn’t call anyone.
I forgot who mentioned it, I’m thinking it was Taters but we aren’t really any sort of municipality. We are just a random bunch of homes out in the sticks. The Yavapai board of supervisors are the only real sort of government we have and they tend to forget about folks who don’t live in the city. Any infrastructure money the county gets will be spent closer to town. I’m pretty grateful that we have the services we have, we live on a paved road, our BFF’ hubby has to tractor their road a couple times a year.
I’m not really whiny about the interwebz issue, it’s the whiney assed crybabies who moved out here without even thinking about anything but CHEAP LAND are the ones who are ticking me off.
Besides, who needs the intertubes when we have GG for entertainment! Yesterday VBC was leading GG through their obstacle course and GG got stuck behind a door. It wasn’t a closed door before he got to it, he ran between the open door and the wall and then got stuck because he could see her through the gap between door and wall and she was RIGHT THERE and why couldn’t he get to her?!?!? He tried to body slam himself through the gap which slammed the door. Once he slammed the door in his face, he started wailing and VBC just sat there smugly laughing her ass off (If you think cats don’t laugh smugly, you have never lived with a cat.)
nettie, I am so sorry you got the plague. So happy that you are vaxed because I know that it makes a big difference.
I have no words FCM. Your life has changed yet again. At least you are big enough to tell the kids what to do, dementia requires so much more diplomacy.
If/when you are able to move them, bring things they are used to seeing every day even if they never use them. The clock on the TV stand, a couple of dusty books and book ends, that sort of thing. It helps if they can see “comfortable” things if that makes any sense?
I did my fair share of sittin’ around before work today, but I have to remind myself that I put away a bit more clean laundry, picked up some stuff at the Gettin’ Sto’ (including a butternut squash ravioli frozen meal - don’t judge! - that I’d been craving, and promptly demolished before my shift) and washed all my dishes.
What an embarrassment of riches! I am so filled with Mumper Love right now …
