Me too!! This is gonna be sooooo much fun!
FCD got on the road just before 3 of the AM because he was awake. I helped him load the car and now I’m hoping I can fall back to sleep for a bit. I plan to fret till he gets there.
We didn’t move the dining room table, but I think I can drag it out of the way. Hoping I can clean that carpet today and it dries overnight, or sooner. Fun day ahead.
I guess we got lucky - we have both a Samsung washer and TV and no issues with either. The washer wasn’t my first choice, tho. I got it because it was in stock at Lowe’s and didn’t require a second mortgage.
Ok, time to try sleeping, dammit.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and partly N.O.S. for the day. There could or could not be rain later today. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. It is our interim interim’s last Sunday with us. Don’t know if I have mentioned this yet, but we have an Interim Priest startin’ with us on September 1st. He’ll be around four days a week, as an interim position is part time. Now the search for a new Priest/Rector can begin in earnest. The process for this stuff is slooooooooooooow! Anywho, after we deheathenate we shall procure some kind of McN.O.L. and then return to da cave for the usual sloth and general overall uselessness that is our wont.
Nettie here’s hopin’ you are over the plague soonest.
shoe we don’t get to pick our 'rents. Maybe Poland will not let your mom in. Would that not be a hoot!
red glad you had fun with the beagles and that Nelson was not too put out with you. Treats tend to make forgiveness more forthcomin’.
MetalMouse I think you have earned a day of high sloth.
MOOOOOOM hope FCD has a safe and uneventful trip to Flahrduh.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
I was up til after 4 then dozed off till after 6. I may actually nap today. FCD is somewhere in NC. My caffeination has begun, the critters have been tended, and my brain is still a tad fuzzy. Gonna be an interesting day here…
Happy Sunday, I guess… < yawn >
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Cleaning, then sloth is on the adgenda.
: waves vaguely westward :
metal mouse, take care of that sunburn. As a veteran of quite a few of them over the years, I’ve found that an oatmeal bath and an application of aloe vera gel with menthol makes them more bearable.
Sounds like FCD is making good time Moooooom.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Other than lunch / breakfast prep and cooking supper (salmon patties, sweet corn, slaw, cottage cheese and 'maters), it will be a day of sloth.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
It’s 8AM. I’ve had a couple of scrambled eggs and an apple, plus my requisite Diet Coke. I think I shall don some grubbies and have at the dining room carpet. Yes, I know, you envy my life…
Major thunderstorm activity last evening, with 65mph winds and torrential rains. Hope nobody was hurt at the state fair, which took a direct hit. Quite the lightning display for us and we lost power briefly. Luckily this building has a backup generator.
I hope FCD’s trek is uneventful, FCM. We recently drove a similar distance when we went on vacation, but we took two days to do so. It wore me out! I can’t imagine doing it in one day now that I’m well into my sixties; even when I was younger, it would have done me in.
My mom had Alzheimer’s, and she started not recognizing her own son who lived with her. One day she became terrified of him, and tried to “run” away down the street. I put “run” in quotes because she used a four-point cane and couldn’t get very far. Her meds were adjusted and she had no more episodes of this sort.
My local stone fruit orchard is awash in peaches just now. I bought a batch yesterday and made a rustic peach tart for last night’s dessert. It came out especially good, as they were good cooking peaches - full-flavored, slightly tart and firm. The second half of it is now in the fridge and I’d be surprised if it lasts until this afternoon.
We’re off for a walk in a semi-wild county park this morning. We noticed yesterday that a crew of goats had been deployed there to eat and clear away a lot of undergrowth and brush in anticipation of fire season. I’m going to take a couple of carrots and an old celery clump with us and vary their diet a little.
Morning all. Feel better after a good night’s sleep, will dine out in several hours and then take swampy’s suggestion for a day of high sloth. Still heading for 90F again, maybe by September it’ll cool down some…
Hope that FCD’s travel is safe, FCM.
lucky, that’s a nice thing you are doing, but make sure the goats don’t follow you home…
JtC, thanks for the VBC and GG story, made me grin way to early in the morning…
OK, pill taken but paper is still to be retrieved (maybe when I head out to dinner-it’s sloth time). All y’all have a good Sunday.
The neurologist changed the dosage of one of his Parkinson’s meds and it sorta helped - no more hallucinations, but his memory is now worse. There’s a Parkinson’s center at Johns Hopkins - if we can get them to move here, maybe the doctors there will be more helpful. My own personal, biased opinion is that many of the doctors in Ocala are just throwing pills at old people on Medicare till they die. I have never spoken to any of them and I just get disjointed stories from my inlaws, but I don’t have a whole lot of confidence in the medical community there. Of course, MIL has a tendency to adjust her meds according to her own opinions, so maybe I’m being grossly unfair… On the other hand, when you can’t get an appointment for a problem for 3 or 4 weeks, it doesn’t inspire confidence.
My front door: “Go ahead, try to break in!!!”
I just finished sucking up a metric butt-ton of cat hair from the dining room floor. I’m about to fill the steam cleaner and have at it. Good times…
Trust me, I thought it was funny, too. Not nearly as funny as the tech whom I accidentally threw into a tizzy because I arrived an extra 10 minutes (extra time budgeted due to roadwork) who saw me arrive and said to the other tech “she’s early!!!. The other tech said " that’s fine; we’re ready for her. Go get her”. “But she’s early!!!”
I think the first tech was a recent grad.
Dining room carpet is clean! Huzzah! With luck, it’ll dry today and I can move the table back in tonight. It’ll definitely dry overnight.
I also cut up an old memory foam topper to make a couple of mattresses for the two pack-n-play beds. Now I’m waiting for my daughter to let me know she’s on her way to the playground. A high school friend, her son, and her mom are visiting and Daughter wants to show off her school. Meanwhile, the kids can play at the playground. So I’m going to meet them there.
FCD called when he hit SC - around 9:30. Here’s hoping the interstate there isn’t as stupid as it usually is. I swear, every time we make the trek to FL and back, we end up sitting on I-95 in SC, because who the heck knows???
He’s hoping to return home on Thurs to miss the holiday weekend traffic. Of course, that all depends on how his dad is doing.
Meanwhile, I’m chilling till I get the text to go.
Good morning everyone.
It’s currently 53 degrees and sunny with an expected high of 80. I’ve started the sprinkler because it’s been several days since I’ve watered the lawn and I want to keep it green.
I’m sorry for all of those that got the crud and send my best well wishes.
It sounds like FCD is making really good time, FCM. May the rest of his trip be as speedy.
JtC, the broadband mission is EXACTLY for folks like you. It’s called Rural Development, lol! Not sure of your governance system out there, could be county too. I fall under county governance, for example. At any rate, it is your local government who must act, but I swear, it seems like most people don’t know about this program. Rural Development has 60 plus different programs. Rural Development.
Anyway, that’s my spiel. I am constantly amazed at the different stuff this agency does.
oopsie, I am a little jealous. I want an Aeron chair too but just cringe at pulling the trigger on getting one. Those things are the BEST and have 10 to 15-year warranties. I made do with an $189.00 mesh chair from Amazon, and it’s okay, but I would much rather have the Aeron.
Take care of that sunburn, Metal Mouse, and enjoy your day of sloth! Sounds like you need it after yesterday!
Sending hugs and boos as needed or wanted and hopes that you all have a great day.
Mooom, add me to the list of those wishing FCD a nice easy drive to Flardah. I’m sure the visit will not be easy though. All my best vibes to you all.
Here’s my left arm two days after my platelet donation attempt.
It doesn’t hurt or anything, but jeez. Still having to talk myself out of canceling next Friday’s appointment every time I think about it. I keep telling myself it’s for a very good cause…
I made baked chilie rellanos fro brunch
Me: < starts food prep >
Godie: “I wish to go out RIGHT FRICKIN’ NOW.”
Me:

Here’s my left arm two days after my platelet donation attempt.
Tech #1: “The needle won’t go in.”
Tech #2: < picks up sledgehammer > “Hold it steady, I got this.”

My front door: “Go ahead, try to break in!!!”
Expecting Jehovah’s Witnesses, or going full Gloria Gaynor on FCD?
I was awakened minutes before two in the ayem by an 'orrible stench. A skunk decided to make its presence known, unfortunately near the house instead of down the block or in another state. I couldn’t get back to sleep until almost four.
Just finished breakfast: SPAM® and cackleberries as promised. I had mine on low-carb toast, and I made a slice of toast and jam for the Missus.

My numbers are awesome!!!
Yay!!! This is wonderful!
Happy birthday Nettie!!! I hope the plague passes quickly and relatively painlessly.
I think I missed a “mother” story Shoe. Whatever it is/was, I know that you are a wonderful person who deserves all the good things.
Metal Mouse I likewise have missed the sunburn story. Be careful with the hot water. Winces in sympathy from California
Oopsie Aeron chairs are great. I think you have chosen wisely.
FCM Best wishes to you and especially to FCD.
Wheelie Do they ever try and get veins from other places? The elbows aren’t great for repeated use for a number of reasons. It might be worth calling ahead and talking to someone before going back in. I wouldn’t want to go back in for more of the same either.
I had 2 bites of egg yesterday and my body did not try to kill me, so maybe - maybe - I am not intolerant after all? Which would be very nice. My diet is limited right now. I’ll try another 2 bites today and we’ll see what happens.
We met with our prospective tenants yesterday and they seemed like good people. We’re ticking down closer to moving into our new house and the pieces are clicking into place. Beamette is recovered from her not-COVID* and Beamer is bitching about school but has been making the bus every day anyway. I am still waiting to hear about a surgery slot, but otherwise things are doing pretty well at Casa Sunny.
*She tested negative repeatedly, by c’mon, it was COVID.

Expecting Jehovah’s Witnesses, or going full Gloria Gaynor on FCD?
That wouldn’t work - he’s got a garage clicker…
Back from the playground. It was nice to see Lauran and Megan and Megan’s spawn Isaac. They went to tour Daughter’s school and I came home via Food Lion to get some gushy food for the cats. They seemed to really enjoy the stuff my daughter gave us for them.
Having lunch and preparing to assume the reading position on the recliner. I don’t think I’ll be putting the dining room back together today - I went over the traffic path pretty heavily and it’s still quite wet. No biggie - it’s just me and the critters.
Afternoon plan is max chillage. Then we’ll see…

I think I missed a “mother” story Shoe.
I’ve b!tched about her incessantly over the years. She’s a narcissistic control freak, and very manipulative.
She’s flying out today to Poland, a couple of days after my dad tested positive for the 'Rona. He’s in his mid 80s and will be alone for weeks. She’s highly likely to lie to the authorities to get her wat - it’s what she’s always done. I’m across the country, learning all this by text.
