I hope your dad is ok. With that thought in mind, with any luck, she’ll test positive in Poland and be stuck there.
What a beautiful day! It’s sunny with an expected high in the upper seventies. The shower curtain liner is in the washer, sloshing around and shedding any lurking members of the Mildew Militia. After I take the dog for a walk, I’m going to saunter down to the farmers market, as planned. Then I shall water my plants and engage in some Sunday slothing. As I told a friend, even God slothed on the seventh day.
Agreed!
cookie, sounds like quite a storm. Hope nobody was hurt.
In all fairness, there aren’t a whole lot of other options (but there are a few–look into speech therapy–really!), and those pills helped my BIL. Before the doc put him on an anti-psychotic, my BIL saw menacing armed intruders on the front lawn every night and was terrified. Of course, my sister tried to reassure him and distract him, but he was frantic. Dementia psychosis is a horrible part of a horrible, horrible disease. I hope you can get him to Johns Hopkins and that they can offer help.
Yikes, wheelz, that looks like a horror movie! Don’t techs have special methods of dealing with rolling veins?
Blech. Where I live, that scent is never from skunks and tends to dissipate quickly. I hope the skunk is long gone.
I’m still wondering about that. Did I miss something, FCM? Why the (beautiful) door photo?
Plus all the Mumper aunts, uncles, and cousins you can shake a stick at. Wait’ll our first Thanksgiving dinner, when they let us out of the attic. (Pro tip: vinyl coverall. Just sayin’t.)

The shower curtain liner is in the washer, sloshing around and shedding any lurking members of the Mildew Militia.
I bought a thin cloth shower curtain liner specifically because the plastic one was a pain in the ass to wash when it got mildewy. The new cloth one did eventually get mildewy, too, but when I bundled it down to the washer, I saw the washing instructions: “Do Not Bleach”. WTF? Bleach is what kills mildew. I washed it without bleach, but it has mildewed up again really fast. I think I’ll go ahead and bleach it next time and see what happens. It was cheap.

I think it’s the chairs pushed up against the door. (She’s been cleaning under the dining table area IIRC.)

Did I miss something, FCM? Why the (beautiful) door photo?
I steam-cleaned the dining room carpet, so all the dining room furniture had to be moved, and the most convenient place was in front of the door. Especially since we never use our front door - we drive into the garage and enter that way.
Behold the clean (and still damp) dining room floor!
In the morning, I’ll run the vacuum over it to get any dislodged cat hairs, then I’ll hang the freshly laundered curtains and put all the furniture back.
I was reclining and reading, wondering why I was so cold. Someone turned the thermostat down and I didn’t know it. No wonder!! It’s been returned to a more respectable setting now.
BTW, that someone is in FL - he should be at his parents’ house by 4.
Off to work in about half an hour. Of course, Monkey just emerged from a deep nap and is now howling to go outside. Nah, man, I’m not calling you incessantly to come back from the neighbor’s yard four minutes before I’m supposed to clock in.
Lunch was part of a FlufferNutter (P.B. sandwich with marshmallows) the rest of which is coming with me for mid-shift nibbles. Experience has taught me that I’ll get a bit of good-natured ribbing about eating Kiddie Food ™ but that’s okay. Haters gonna hate, and meanwhile I get to eat peanut butter and marshmallows.
It was on whole wheat bread, if that allots me any “adulting” points!
Also, I just washed down a multivitamin, so I won’t die of scurvy like a pirate.
All y’all have a fantabulous afternoon/evening. (Is too a word!!) I’m off to feed the masses and/or take their money, depending on which station I’m assigned to work tonight.
ETA: guess who just hopped into my lap, purring amd demanding attention? Dude, I’ve gotta GO. Someone gotta buy your kibbles & gooshy-food, and clearly it ain’t you.
Dude. I gotta goooooo:
I buy cheap clear/mostly-clear shower curtains and just replace ‘em when they get too yucky. In fact, it’s just about time to get a new one.
I slept long and pretty well last night, and am feeling almost recovered from both guest vocalist gigs—and from the time I recently spent supporting two proposals, on top of doing my day job. I have a bunch of extra hours from the latter, so I decided to take this coming Thursday and Friday off: I’m pysched about having only three workdays this week, then a five-day weekend!
It’s almost 3pm here in sunny (but humid) Northern Virginia, and I’m currently hanging out on the couch with my doggy. I still haven’t figured out a solution to the tailbone pain issue when I’m on the couch: I sit/lie on my hip a lot, but right now I”m sitting cross-legged so I can more easily type on my iPad. It’s a comfortable position to sit in, but when the time comes to get up my tailbone will definitely bitch at me. Oh well.
I started the day by hand-washing the two “hand wash only” blouses I wore to my guest singer gigs. I hadn’t hand-washed anything in so long that I started wondering if Woolite ever goes bad… I spent the rest of the morning on music stuff: updating my website’s main photo and uploading some new live recordings, then updating my FB music page’s profile pic and posting a link to the updated website. Self-promotion, bay-bee!
At lunchtime I decided to finally watch the series premiere of House of the Dragon, but I turned it off partway through the jousting scene. I love the cast and I’m interested in the story (I watched all of GoT), but for some reason at the moment I’m simply not interested in seeing gore/brutality…or animals being treated poorly. I’ll probably watch the show eventually, but for now I’m opting out.
I’m taking a break from European sports docuseries to watch some good ol’ American baseball. The Nationals just took a 1-run lead over the Reds in the bottom of the 5th, but I’m sure they’ll find a way to lose.
Lunch was a turkey sandwich (on low-carb bread) and a banana, and I’m currently snacking on some grocery store pineapple chunks that should probably get finished today. Shoe, I used to love fluffernutters!!! Anyone who teases you is just jealous!

oopsie, I am a little jealous. I want an Aeron chair too but just cringe at pulling the trigger on getting one.
I definitely get that! I thought long and hard, and did a lot of research. Every time the Aeron popped up at the top of one list or another, I sighed…and maybe also cursed a little. I came close to ordering a much more affordable second choice, but ultimately decided to go for it. It does mean skipping an early October trip that I’d been considering, but I think it’ll be worth it.
Afternoon all. Bathed (glad I didn’t last night, the burn was way down this morning) and headed out for sustenance, my Sunday Dinner menu schedule had me at Cracker Barrel but I haven’t had good experience there the last couple of times, so I was going to Shoney’s for their buffet, to find it’s closed, so drove about rather aimlessly and ended up with my monthly 4 Guys stop (hey, there’s meat, bread, cheese and potatoes…that’s dinner, isn’t it). Dishes are washing and should be done shortly. As for sloth, just realized that there is a soccer coaching clinic I have to attend from 3:30-5:30 today (outside) so sloth will be done standing and probably sweating. At least it’s cloudy today.
Shoe, growing up is an option we all have and the best of us suppress; enjoy your sammich.
Sunny, hope all the moving and tenanting work out for the best.
Wheelie, I’m wincing just looking at that picture. Wow did they mess up, hard to find veins or no.
OK, everyone have a quiet afternoon.
And he’s in Ocala. I can now relax till his return trek.
ooohh love those chairs … and that is a nice piano
Moooooom, the pic of your furniture against the door reminded me of cartoons.
wheelie, it looks like the tech / nurse shot through a vein when going for the draw. I spent one summer in sleeves because of that once.
Sloth and a late lunch / early supper ingested. My guess at the proportions on a studio project was off (no measurements provided), so I’m going to have to figure out what to do with what I’ve cut.
I’m inclined to cut the techs some slack. Their job isn’t easy, and they’re probably not getting paid much and/or volunteering their time.
One of them specifically wanted me to make another appointment for when he was working, and said I was a “puzzle we need to solve.” I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he’ll have a plan for me when I get there. We’ll see.
Shoe, is there anyone else who can stay with or at least look in on your dad while he deals with the plague? While he may be better off without your mom there, I still hate the idea of him being alone in case things go south.

and that is a nice piano
I bought it when I was in college - I’ve had it about 46 years now. But apart from a little “Twinkle Twinkle” with the grands, I don’t play it any more. Alas…
I took advantage of FCD being away to have a supper that he’d have hated - cod, sweet potato, cukes. The local farm where I get the 'maters and peaches has had a buttload of sweet potatoes - I’ll head back there tomorrow and get some more. YUM!!
The dining room is almost dry, but I’ll put it back together tomorrow. I’m done being productive today. And I’m really tired, so I’ll bed down with Mel around 8 or so. Yeah, that’s me without adult supervision.
you wild woman you lol
shoe I didn’t think fluffernutters made it out of the northeast. They were a staple of mine growing up in Mass and Maine.
I just vacuumed, and I think that was the first time that there wasn’t any of my late dog’s hair in it. 8 months, and I still miss him. Weird the things that bring tears to the eye.
First you spread spread spread
Your bread with peanut butter
Add marshmallow Fluff
And have a Fluffernutter

I cleaned, I napped. I dreamed I was being slowly crushed by people filled cloth tentacles. That’s the last time I use my Squishmallow Cthulhu as a pillow.
I walked the pup, had a long talk with her person, hiked down to the farmers market and back, watered plants, and hung the shower curtain

The new cloth one did eventually get mildewy, too, but when I bundled it down to the washer, I saw the washing instructions: “Do Not Bleach”. WTF? Bleach is what kills mildew. I washed it without bleach, but it has mildewed up again really fast.
That exact same thing happened to me! I like the cloth liners because they’re less rustle-y, and the ones I had said they were “mildew-resistant.” Yeah, like magnets are steel-resistant. I tried cutting mine so it fell only 4 inches below the tub rim, thinking the wet tub floor was an issue. Nope. Still mildewed. Let me know how the bleach works! I’d love to go back to cloth.
Oo! Oo! Second hummingbird in less than a minute! I’ll never stop getting a thrill from that. It’s not even 4 PM here, but I’m thinking of joining the day drinkers club and sitting out there with a good book.

Same. Well, I only had one. I just found 'em too hard to swallow. Maybe if they had a layer of something slippery, like jelly…

Shoe, is there anyone else who can stay with or at least look in on your dad while he deals with the plague? While he may be better off without your mom there, I still hate the idea of him being alone in case things go south.
Excellent comment and question.

I dreamed I was being slowly crushed by people filled cloth tentacles. Cthulhu
Eek. Was Gordie unavailable then?
{{{VanGo}}} Something similar occurred to me a couple of years after I lost my cat Figaro. A blazer that hadn’t been drycleaned since then had none of her very fine, white hair.
