Smarter minds and, uh, butts in the MMP

Gonna be more fun weather this evening until about midnight. More high winds, lightning, and a tornado watch. Whee!

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, saw interim interim off (he’s goin’ to be doin’ a lot of fill in at another local Whiskypal church that is also currently sans Rector), did the drive thru at MickeyD’s, got back to da cave, et, achieved nappage, and day drank out on the back porch. Also, the biiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Quite the eventful day for us.

MOOOOOOM glad FCD is safely in Ocala. Hope things go well there.

Cookie here’s hopin’ the weather calms down somewhat soonest.

shoe and others I’ve had fluffernutters. I think they are a thing across the U.S.ofA. Not a big fan myself but, hey, enjoy. The whole wheat bread even makes it healthy.

Everyone else, I read all, but, as usual, I have the attention span of a lobotimized gnat, so, yays, boos (N.O.B.), hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlin’s, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

I hope your dad will be okay too, Shoe. But like Wheelie said, I think he’s prolly better off without you mom there.

I grew up with fluffernutter sammiches in Floriduh too. We always had marshmallow fluff, or whatever it was called, in the house 'cause my mom put it in marshmallow fudge.

Our adventure today was to drive down to Crooked River Ranch to pick up our new, to us, spare Kayak. It’s a green Wilderness Systems Pungo 120, just like the one we already have. The woman who was selling it was moving and wanted to buy a lighter weight ‘yak. 12’ pungos weigh about 47 lb. She’s getting a 10’. We stopped at Subway in Madras on the way back and got a couple of foot-longs and ate half a sammie each at a rest stop on the way. I’m gonna go eat another half for my dinner in a few. We took Gibbs with us. He’s becoming a good rider these days.
I was thinking on the way back that the high desert has a certain stark beauty all it’s own. I love it here.

See ya’all tomorrow.

He was sleeping at my feet. Alex Catt was sleeping on my abdomen. Which might explain the fuzzy crushing sensation.:cat:

Evening all. Attended the 10U Coaching class (I could have done it on-line but that is a FUBAR that is still not untangled and it did get me out of the house). Actually helped a bit in that I have refereed that age group for many years so the Instructors (whom I’ve also known for many years) directed some questions by the other coaches to me to answer.

Once done, went to Bruster’s for dinner of a Butter Pecan Waffle cone, with an Apple and a Pepsi added. So now just hanging around until bedtime comes.

FCM, glad FCD is there safe. Hope he can get his parents to finally see reason.

Don’t believe I’ve ever had a fluffernutter sammich

Bumba, enjoy the kayak.

Cookie, be safe.

If it involves chainsaws, run…

OK, everyone have a good night/good morning and I’ll catch up with you on the next MMP.

I just heard a big boom. Transformer, early holiday fireworks, or somebody putting a round of grapeshot into HOA President’s home?

Grapeshot. How Napoleon of them. I approve.

Hey, just g’night y’all. I’m glad you’re here.

Thank you. I’m retired, I have nothing better to do than bother our Board of Supervisors. I believe the meetings are open again so if I get really irritated by the whining, I could drive into town and see if anything can be accomplished.

I’m sorry for sounding so dismissive for your very kind suggestion, I’m kinda used to being forgotten out here.

What a bad experience, I’m sorry that happened to you. I have very good veins, vampires rhapsodize over them. I used to roll my sleeve up for whatever donation was needed and 99% of the time, I barely even noticed the single stick it took.

That other 1% of the time was enough to make me avoid donating for months before I forgot how horrible it was.

When you go to the next appointment on Friday, tell your vampire what happened and why you are tense. That will help both of you. Also, bring some chocolate. Not gas station chocolate, spring for the good stuff. You will be doing a very good thing and you deserve a treat. (I really miss the home baked cookies we used to get for donating, but the store bought ones are nice as well.)

Our nettie tested negative for days…

Come to think of it, hubs tested negative in the middle of his third go round with the plague and refused to test again because he knew what COVID felt like. And then he slept for the next couple of days so I didn’t waste my time trying to get him to test for something we both knew he had.

You will never forget, but someday the memories will bring smiles instead of tears. Or so I’ve been told…

I’m so glad you have found the beauty in the desert. Watching the seasons change is amazing.

I don’t like peanut butter. There, I said it. Peanuts are OK for snacking, but I started refusing to eat peanut butter anything sandwiches when I started school. Mom tried her best to sneak peanut butter into my lunches but I wouldn’t have it and if I couldn’t trade my nasty peanut butter and whatever sandwich for something better, it would go home with me. I ate a whole bunch of fried egg with mustard on white bread sandwiches, though. (Now I’m getting the munchies but we don’t have white bread. Or Golden Mustard.)

I’m thinking the monsoons are over for the year. I will miss them, we really did need the rain. Of course, I’m a retired drain on society, so I wasn’t trying to drive to work in the rain having jerk customer bitch at me personally because my cash register wasn’t working.

Our clover patch is half knee high grass which is going to seed. The birds and bees and butterflies are frolicking all over the place and this afternoon a bird fluttered up to my stitching room and perched on the edge of the window. T’was the most exciting thing that has happened to GG for as long as he can remember.

I just love watching them. Is there any place you can hang a feeder? I had been noticing that one of our feeders was getting empty faster than the others and wondered if we had bats again (which we have seen and which are VERY cool), but have since seen a woodpecker enjoying the syrup, which is pretty entertaining by itself. It’s little head bobs up and down like it’s going after a termite nest.

I made the mistake of re-filling my hummie feeder while the syrup was too hot today, and it made the top fall apart. I think a stop at agway is in the future.

What a mess that must have been. Glass shards and hot sugar is a horrible combination. I hope you didn’t cut your hands too badly.

If you have room in your fridge, you can make a gallon of syrup at a time. I’m pretty lazy and would rather make it in batches. Plus, desert hummers seem to really love cold syrup in the summer. (If you are a pushover like me, in the winter you can warm the syrup in the nuke so the flying pigs can have a hot cuppa first thing in the morning.)

I’ve been ignoring the pile of Medicare stuff that has been arriving but I just fished out the official envelope out and found my new Medicare card. Shit’s getting real, folks. I can still ignore and deny for a couple more months but something must be done and I am the only one who can do it. FML, I’m old.

Just got home a bit ago, and imma respond to a bunch of y’all because that’s one of my favorite ways to wind down, but I expect I’ll be the last Mumper on this thread.

Oh, speaking of work, I got 4 hours of overtime this last week! (No wonder I’m tahred…) That’ll put a coupla gallons of gas in the tank.

It was a very stormy day, lots of lightning and at one point, right when two people were leaving, it was absolutely pouring buckets.

Their neighbor is gonna check in on him, and my mom just sent me her phone number.

I lived for a couple of years in Connecticut when I was a little kid, around 8ish years old. That’s probably where/when I picked it up.

That was very poignant, and you have every right in the world to haz yourself a sad when stuff like this happens.

That’s so awesome. I love hummers. It is always especially gratifying to get scolded by one. It’s like, c’mon, you weigh less than a nickel and you’re yelling at me?!

Okay, imma fix a bowl of cereal or possibly nuke a TV dinner. Monkey says “hi” to all.

Change of plans: I’m having a cup of Easy-Mac (don’t judge!) with a can of tuna stirred in. Haven’t had mac w/tuna in a while.

… and yes, Monkey got a few nibbles of tuna, the spoiled little monster.

Up, caffeinated, nd sheveled. Off to heave. See y’all in the next MMP
