So, Whatcha doing today?

It’s Saturday and that means a Soccer Game for my grandson. He’s five and quite the natural little athlete.

Then probably some swimming since it’s going to be close to 100 degrees here.

Not terribly exciting, but it’s not a bad way to kill some time.

How about you?

We’re going to identify and count trees in the local park. Exciting, right?

If it’s Saturday, it must be hashbrowns. So hashbrowns, eggs, and bacon for breakfast. I’ll need to go down to the corner market for milk and eggs.

After that, I’m converting the 16’ x 24’ covered part of the deck into a catio. I got one side done yesterday afternoon, and today I need to buy lumber.

Had a tandem load of road base delivered on Wednesday. About 13 tons. Going to use my Kubota to fill in places under the fence that our dogs have been trying to dig under. They are highly energetic. Border Collies.

We have also put down some stepping stones around the fence gate and the stairs to the house. Need to fill some of that in with the road base too.

It’s a little tricky on the tractor, as our yard is pretty steep and I don’t want to roll.

I’ll spread the rest on the driveway that we do every few years. Doubt I’ll get it all moved today.

I’m gonna practise my favorite hobby…
Being LAZY

Later tonight Son-of-a-wrek is having a fish-fty. I’m required to attend. That’s ok, I love me some Catfish.

…check my e-mail, then update my Lord of the Rings Online character.

Write an encounter as part of the next adventure for my Dungeons and Dragons roleplaying group.

Cook + eat lunch (just ham, olives and jacket potatoes.)

Visit my mate to watch international rugby together (I’m English; he’s Welsh!), then adjourn to a local pub for an evening meal before returning to watch the first episode of Britannia.

And so to bed. (Samuel Pepys)

Wasting time with you people when I should be [del]finishing up[/del] starting my presentation due on Monday.

Going to take a walk around Kazimierz, the old “Jewish Ghetto” area of Krakow, which is now the hippest, trendiest area of the city, full of bars, upscale boutiques, cafes and chic restaurants of every possible ethinic cuisine known to Man, but there are still little pockets hidden away from the Tourist Trail that let you get a glimpse of what things must have been like before all of the evil that befell Poland during WWII and then later under Soviet/Communist oppression.

I am 100% convinced that 2019’s Krakow is the most lovely, lively, livable city on Earth.

Towing home three cars I bought the other day. Either one hell of an investment, or a complete folly.

Ride my horse.

Done
Coffee. Hot tub. Love making. breakfast.

To do
Mow the lawn. Wash the wife’s car. 50 minutes on the elliptical. Dinner at Chinese restaurant

Going to pick up my new bike from the local repair shop, where a rack is being installed, then ride down to the shop where I bought it (less local, but larger and with lots of selection) to look at lights.

Then the usual garden work, laundry, etc. Later tonight, prep the ingredients for the cooking demos I got myself roped into doing tomorrow at a local garden fair (roasting peppers, picking basil, measuring out ingredients to pack, etc.) If I am feeling ambitious, I will prep dough tonight to bake baguettes tomorrow for one of the demos, which is pesto (to be made into little hors d’oeuvres with goat cheese on baguette slices, and cherry tomatoes on top if any of the ones in the garden are ripe).

Tonight, meet a friend for dinner at a local place that I’ve always meant to go to that is about to close down.

I need to put a new drive belt on one of our lawn tractors, then mow the high grass around our pond. Then I’ll pick weeds (tortoise food) and take the dogs fro a walk in the woods.

Getting over jet-lag–just back from an overseas vacation; my first ever. Weird feeling of not quite tired, and yet not very well rested. I haven’t eaten in 14 hours: I’m still not hungry.

Just washing/drying laundry, and on my PC catching up with all the emails and all the all stuff I’ve missed while I was away: including 10+ days of postings on this site.

Good day for it too: rain, rain, and more rain. Good thing too, it’s busting the back of what I understand was a 2-week steamy heat wave.

My own bed feels so good…

Today, I woke up at 4am and headed to work at 5am. It was early, and it’s a Saturday, so I had the Autobahn all to myself. I did about 160-170mph the whole way. At work, I accompanied a company of Ukrainian infantry as they battled through a simulated assault on a small village–the culminating event in a month long, multi-national training exercise called Combined Resolve XII. The 8 day war ended by late afternoon, and I headed home around 5pm. So, you know… just a regular 'ole Saturday.

Up early, do laundry, take walk, time at library, have lunch, and now more time at library. Eventually grocery store, and home for some rest and reading time.

Saturday is my only day off of work.

I got recruited as partial webmaster for our local writers’ group after the old one died suddenly. The guy who took over did not know how to do things like load files into the Wordpress site. So I’m going to the meeting today. My wife is giving a talk on how to query editors and get your book published.

If I can stand it, I’m also going to fix the oven. The broiler element blew out, and I’ve gotten replacements for it and the bake element. YouTube says easy to do. We’ll see.

I’d replace the damn oven but it is in a cabinet and is so small that they hardly make that size anymore, so replacing it would require a kitchen remodeling. Which I’d do except we’re putting in air conditioning next week so enough spent on the house is enough.

A plus to today’s activity. One of the guys we were teamed with refurbishes tube amps. Gave me his contact information, so I may trot over there soon and see what he has to offer. This may finally spur me to clear out a space to play in the basement.

Working in the yard, trying to arrange landscape blocks so they will divert water from running straight down through the middle of the back yard every time it rains. (Which will probably happen later tonight.) Also working on a programming project I’m doing on the side as a proof of concept for a former boss of mine. Tonight, hopefully more “Mindhunter” on Netflix.

Sitting with my thumb up my ass waiting for the physical therapist. Been doing that a lot lately. Not physical therapy, just waiting for her. Grrrrrr!
