It’s started raining, and despite the humidity and high-70s temps, the dark clouds and post-Christmas atmosphere deluded me into thinking it’s actually pot roast weather and so I am hauling out my big old orange cast iron workhorse Dutch oven, one of my favorite artifacts of my old life with the late Other Shoe.
There’s supposed to be a cold front coming with the rain. Let’s see what gets here first: the cooler air, or dinner.
Does anyone else picture Captain Ahab gazing at the horizon with a stinking albatross around his neck and a morose look on his face while I come flying by on a speedboat wearing aviator shades with two hot blondes who only want me for my cocaine yelling “no sails, mafucka!”
Howdy Y’all! I’M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!! First I have read all but retained little, so yays, boos, hugs, smooches, trouts, chitlins, noogies, how you doin’s all around.
I had a really great, albeit soggy time, in Ye Olde Home Towne with my family. My normal two and half hour drive time up on Thursday turned into an almost four hour drive time due to really ICK weather. ‘Twas fine down here in da Burg when I left but the further north I drove the worse the weather. I stopped in Columbus (Jawja, that is) due to hunger and an awful tstorm. I sat in a Booger King for an hour waitin’ for the storm to stop. It finally stopped and I started again only to run into an even more horrible storm ten minutes up the road. Then Thursday night at mom’s there were lots and lots of tstorms throughout the night. Thus, we did not attend Mass. Nobody wanted to get out in all that! I spent last night at Sis’s place where we laughed and talked and consumed adulterated beverages. I went back to mom’s this mornin’ to load up trash in twuck and to get some cake to bring back to da cave (red velvet and German chawklit to be exact), took the trash to the convenience center and headed caveward. I have had a nap and am now contemplatin’ whether or not I want to eat. OYKW called me this mornin’ to let me know he’ll head back tomorrow as he told his mom he’d take her to Meridian so she could some gift cards that, as he said, “are burnin’ a hole through her purse.”
So that was Christmas for da bear. Hope everyone had a nice holiday or non-holiday.
I have been unplugged for two days and must needs to catch up on teh intartoobz. Things might have happened while I was away!
Hi Honeys, I’m Home!!! After messing up my sweetie’s computer, I couldn’t remember my password here, so I just stayed offline for the last few days. But we’re home and I have my machine back and life is good. Taz is lying across my arm and Ziva has yet to make an appearance. Our trip back, including several stops, took just under 13 hours, so not nearly as terrible as when we went down south.
I could have taken just 2 racks of ribs and half a turkey, and there still would have been leftover. Even after giving away a ton of food, my inlaws still have tons left. They tried to send some home with us, but I didn’t want to deal with it. Which is why my supper tonight was peanut butter on a bagel. I need to get groceries tomorrow.
The games my daughter came up with for the gift exchanges were really fun - much laughter for very little money. Even my butt of a BIL was almost tolerable, till he offered to take my pottery wheel off my hands… Yeah, he’s that subtle.
Tomorrow will also be laundry day, but mostly chillage. Speaking of which, I think I’ll sign off now and veg. MWAH!
Home with all fingers and toes intact. It was great seeing the Littlest New Cousin for the second time and just enjoying life. More of that tomorrow with our annual TSO concert. See ya’ll later!
eta Oh, yeah, I almost forgot to tell you. Centipede. Ick ick ick ick. Smokey played with and disabled it, and I smashed it with the rubber thing on the end of my crutch
AAAAAAAHHH!! A night in my own bed!! Even tho Taz kept waking me up - probably to make sure I was still here - I slept well, and no back ache this morning. Bliss!!
**FCD **is still under the covers, but I’m showered and semi-dressed (OK, robe and slippers) and once he gets moving, we’re going to get breakfast. We’ll have to stop on the way back for milk and some lunch-packin’ items. I have 3 days of work this week, he has 3 or 4. But today will mostly be about sluggage.
And for those who wondered, the turkey and the ribs were sooooooooooo good! Since I now have space in the freezer, I’ll be on the lookout for a turkey on sale to smoke and divide for multiple meals. Yum! We’ll also go back to Aldi’s and try to get some of those ribs - also yum!
Meanwhile, it’s overcast and dreary but on its way to 74° today, followed by a high of 47° tomorrow and 70° on Tuesday. This is one weird winter!! At least we’ve passed the solstice so days will get longer at last! And it’s not mid-80s and humid like it was in Ocala - even with the fan whirling away all night, it was sweaty sleeping, and not for a good reason.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis <snerk> 69! <snerk> Amurrkin out and rainyish (which shall go away soon) with a predicted high of 80 and cloudyish for the day. Another too warm for December day. OYKW called me half an hour ago. He was just leavin’ his mom’s place to journey back from the wilds of West Alabammy, bless his heart. At least it won’t be rainy.
I shall go deheathenate as I have ush duty. I anticipate a slim crowd this mornin’ so the service will pretty much just zip on by. I hope. Other than that I have no plans.
OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Also, I must purtify for deheathenization at some point.
Rain here and one of those days where the high is already met. It was like 64 and by 4pm they are saying like 46. But that’s fine for an indoor concert and Chinese food afterwards.
I’m excited. I got me a 2 TB hard drive for doing NaNoWriMo this year and I’m going to take it to the shop to have it put in the Infernal Machine tomorrow. Yay, hard drive space! I can download *all *of my Steam games now! (All 4 of them!)
