Sortin' thru that pile in the MMP

we used to get boxes like that from grace resources back in the day which reminded me of how I picked up the habit of kings Hawaiian bread … when it first came out it was in a pan tin like the “pan” you get at a Hispanic bakery and no one didn’t know what to do with it so a lot of it ended up getting donated and I just ate it out of the tin id get 3 or 4 packs of it …then it got popular and expensive …

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

{{{{Oopsie}}}}

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 77 with some rain later this mornin’ and then probably mostly cloudy for the rest of the day. We shall see. No particular plans today, so sloth and general overall uselessness shall be achieved. Sup shall be salmon patties, smashed N.O.T., peas, and bizkits due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for such.

JtC good for you for pushin’ through with the grant. It almost sounds likie you’re doin’ it in spite of TPTB at MOW. One would think they would welcome someone with grant writin’ expertise to do that for 'em.

Shades I like those King’s Hawai’ian rolls. They are especially great for makin’ pimento cheese sammiches.

doggio happy heavin’!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

He asked me to go with him tomorrow to pick up his dad’s ashes. I know that’s going to be hard on him. And the fatigue just exacerbates all the emotional turmoil. We both need our weekend away…

It’s supposed to be rainy and cold and icky all day. I may have to light a fire in the basement. Tobias certainly has a mind of his own - he now grabs me by the hand and drags me where he wants me - whether it’s to the door to go upstairs or down, or to open the piano, or any number of things. Sometimes I can distract him. other times, not so much. He’s a persistent little booger.

I’m starting to think about getting out of this daycare routine. I’m a year away from turning 70 and taking care of kids is far more exhausting than it should be - at least for a younger soul. Roxy starts Kindergarten in August, and as soon as Tobias is potty trained, he’ll go to the Montessori school - probably 2 more years. I will keep both this summer, but I’ll be talking to my daughter to get her planning ahead (not one of her strong points.)

Plus, I’d kinda like to enjoy my retirement with my sweetie… So gotta get that ball rolling.

Meanwhile, it’s another day in paradise. Happy Thursday!

Morning all. The rain arrived as scheduled about 3am and when I arose around 7, it had stopped and departed the area, so good planning on it’s part. Heading to 66F today, so heater won’t have to work very hard. The last two items for the Great Trip Southward arrived late last night (Snow goggles I can wear over my glasses and a snow cap that covers my face (also excellent for bank robbery…). Now I can start planning how to pack all this stuff…

FCM, take care and yeah, if Daughter won’t plan ahead you need to. As swampy and I can attest, this is sloth-age we’re at, not doing the daily 2-year old chase routine…

nellie, hope the doc can help, I think you are wise to listen to your body.

JtC, I’ve written more than a few government documents, as long as you stay within the boundaries and write what they want/need to hear, good things can occur. Best of luck.

OK, need to do the morning internettin’ and do want to get to the gym sometime today. All y’all take care.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 3c/37f with snow showers today, which accounts for why it’s sunny out there. Weather app says “When does hibernation start? Because I am 100 percent fucking participating in that shit”. Oh, if I only could!

Seanette you’re pretty much right in your round up of the student complaints. Life isn’t fair, they can’t read emails and really we should just give them the degree they want and not expect them to do anything for it.

Moooom I grew up in Kent and I can’t remember that many really cold winters where we had snow. My school was several miles away and was never closed due to bad weather either. London and the south east does get snow but not really in any great quantity, it’s relatively low-lying and heavily built-up so it’s not like the blizzard conditions you’d see on the very exposed areas on the moors and the highlands further north.

I hope FCD gets some rest and feels better, he will no doubt appreciate company if he is off to collect the ashes, and he might well want someone else to drive him home again afterwards.

misnomer I’m sorry to hear about your friend, it sounds like a lovely way to remember him at his memorial service.

Flyboy I agree with the rest, Wifey RN’s patient may not have wanted to appear ungrateful but just doesn’t like those particular things. Sometimes people think they’re being kind and helpful but not in the way you really want them to

nellie good luck with the ortho doc!

Busy day here, I had to come in to campus as we have exams, and today’s invigilator has turned up so that makes me very happy. I have a guest irker in the office for the afternoon so I’m not on my own here which is fun. Photocopier man has just delivered toner cartridges so that’s even better. I can go and play about with machinery later. Better get back to it!

Another short heave. I hit Harris Teeter on the way home, and I got the senior discount(I’ll trade my dignity for $3 off my order  ) I almost had heart failure, I thought they had discontinued my martini olives. If that ever happens, we riot.

And good French Toast.

I just found out Joseph Hazelwood (of Exxon Valdez infamy) died last July.

There’s a local commercial for Haselwood Auto Group (or Hazelwood-something), and I think of Captain Hazelwood every time it comes on. Today I finally decided to see whatever became of him.

Good morning, all. Today junk haulers will take away a piano, a sleeper sofa, a dead grill, a desk, a dead recliner, and a dead treadmill. In theory, a drywall guy whom we have been waiting on since August will then arrive to repair the drywall that the plumber cut under the sink and behind the dishwasher. This excitement is rivaled only by the excitement of vacuuming and wet vaccing the areas where all of this furniture will have formerly resided, and replacibg the under-sink contents.

Received notification from Ancestry that there were family hints available. One of them was for my former brother in law, who I had no use for. Turns out it was his obituary. It had the usual data that an obit has, place of birth, marriage, etc. But then there was the last paragraph, which I’m pretty sure must have been written by his son:

"I would be remiss if I didn’t add that while Harry was well-liked by his friends and did well by them, he was a miserable son of a bitch to his family, leaving behind emotional scars that will live on as a reminder of what an abusive husband and father he was. "

The truth shall set you free.

Wowie!

While I’m glad the mystery of when Mom would pass is over, I just wish it could have been a few months later - Chicago can be very nice in May. But no… current forecast for this weekend is for temps in the 20s, wind chill less than that, and a chance of snow.

Afternoon all. Outside of putting the dishwasher to work, been a fairly slothful morning, but I am dressed now for the gym and will depart…sometime…real soon… At least the payment that Tru-Green charged me for on the 5th of January finally showed up on my on-line checking account 2 weeks later, so things finally are balanced. Now just get the credit card bills taken care of tomorrow…

gotti, I can remember going to Wisconsin about 15 years ago when my aunt died; it was about -5F with a windchill of I f****'in don’t believe it’s this cold, and it was one of the shortest graveside ceremonies ever. Hope yours is nice(and also short).

Cookie, hopefully that will never be written about any of us…sounds like he was a real sweetheart…

suzie, happy house-cleaning. We have a local company called “We Chunk Junk” that cleared me out a few years ago after I had sold/given away everything I could. And the drywall shouldn’t take all that long to do, based on my admittedly limited experience.

flyboy, when I hear Hazelwood I think of a suburb of St. Louis I used to live next too and went by one of their High Schools (Hazelwood West IIRC) most every day to/from work.

OK, heading off to the gym…no, I really mean it this time… Take care all.

That’s our girl :+1:t2::+1:t2::+1:t2::+1:t2:!!!

Go get ‘em!! My money is on you.

Yah got both of these right! You need to be able to sail off for a week in your boat at the drop of your retired hats! Keep toothbrushes and a couple changes of underwear on board.

Our grands are the same ages~I can just about handle one 7 hour Sunday play day and one put the youngest to bed for 2 hours evening spell. Then I need a complete day of rest! Among other things, my knees have only so many flights of stairs in them in a day and their house is on 3 levels. What goes down does not necessarily easily come back up.

Verbally abusive, emotionally manipulative, racist to his core, and an angry recovering alcoholic. I should have shot him when I had the chance as a teen.

I blew the same chance I had as a teen. I deeply regret it.

Wifey, RN just called. One of her patients (or patient’s spouse) was backing out of the garage and hit the Nursemobile. Sounds like it’s pretty crunched, but drivable. She’s going to see one more patient today, but isn’t visiting the far one.

In other news, my credit union changed their online banking about three months ago. I noticed ‘first mortgage’ on my new Summary page, with a ‘past due’ from 2001. Since I have autopay, I chalked it up to a timing error. The stranger thing is that the balance is about $9,000 more than I owe. When I got the mortgage, they pretty much immediately sold the loan to another company (2003, or maybe early 2004). Today it dawned on me that my credit union shouldn’t have y mortgage in my account summary, because they don’t own the loan anymore. I know I haven’t been making payments to the credit union. I’ve never received a past due notice or any collection notices in the mail, or any other communication regarding that ‘1st Mortgage’. I’m wondering if my identity was stolen. I’m waiting for a call-back from the credit union.

Happy Thorsday!

It’s been a rainy day.
Gloomy and dark, although not so cold.

Y’all have been very busy and hard to keep up with.
I started a post yesterday, but gave it up after a while.
I had too many interruptions.

Ripple got his drain out. It was one really long one, not two.
His incision looks really good.
He was a good boy too; he didn’t growl at the vet once. I held his head and he didn’t move a muscle.
Nothing on the biopsy yet.

Somebody around me must have gotten a new stove, a Samsung.
My phone wants to connect to it.
It’s not my neighbor.
The fun I could have if I were inclined.

Nellie, as much as I hate PT, it really is helping my knee.
But what a PITA it is.

PITK I bet!

(I did knee PT~that and a walker for awhile worked much better than pain meds)

Regrettably, now the other knee is dealing me fits~pain waking me up, really not wanting to stand up from the couch. I guess I should be grateful it waited almost 2 years to start misbehaving. I would not want to be trying to convince a doc to prescribe pain meds in today’s state of knee jerk (unintentional but appropriate in retrospect) suspecting every patient of being a drug seeker.
