Sortin' thru that pile in the MMP

Howdy Y’all! Been a day of high sloth herebouts. Nappage and day drinkin’ (martinis today) have been the highlights. OYKW said he would make sup so I get to loll about while he does so. Then I shall do cleanup after we sup and he can loll about while I do so. Works for us!

Lily all that goin’s on made me want to take another nap. Wore me out just readin’ about it!

Cookie dang! Guess he deserved it however.

gotti I understand what you mean about the mystery. With my mom, we knew it was comin’, just a matter of when. I’m still glad I was there when she died. Hope it’s not too miserable in Chicago while you’re there.

flyboy sorry about the Nursemobile, but glad wifey is not hurt. Hope she can get it all sorted out soonest. Hope there’s nothin’ fishy with the credit union other than their idiocy.

sari yay for Ripple bein’ a good boy! I do not think I would want my stove and my phone talkin’ to each other. That just sounds wrong on many, many, many levels.

MOOOOOOM I do not blame you for gettin’ out of the babysittin’ business. This should be FCD and you time now.

Insane… I just looked up, and if it’s an electric range, you can turn on their oven. :fire:

I would hope I would need a password.
It’s been coming up on my phone for over a week, it was only today that I looked up what it is.
I’ll be sure to select ‘never’ when it comes up again.

Today there was an emergency session at the community center to nominate and vote me in as their official Grant Writer. Go me! (I actually did need something official to attach to my grant proposals, so this was a good thing.) I’ve got all the paperwork now and as expected, it is a big ol’ pile of small print pages with an even bigger instruction book.

No wonder they are all so intimidated by it, it looks very complicated and scary. It’s not, it is just another government application AND I found a place online where I can see some of the successful grant applications that were accepted in the past. Excellent, I love examples of what my stuff should look like!

Hubs cooked up five gallons of beer today and just barely finished cleaning up. We rarely ever bathe in our walk in tub, but it sure does come in handy for washing out big pots and buckets.

I was really pleased to see that bag of dog food. I’ve always had good feelings about PetSmart because they did so much for our small local rescue group, but I had no idea that they packaged and donated their own brand of pet food. Well, I knew they had their own brand, not that they also gave tons of it away every year.

While I was being voted in, I took a good look around the community center and there is room to store at least 4 pallets of pet supplies (storage can be an issue with large donations-I still remember the day a semi pulled up in our driveway to deliver 5 tons of cat litter) while we get a handle on how much we give out every month.

After FIL died, hubs was horribly distracted all the time. I know it was grief and fatigue but he was too much of a he-man to admit it. I hope FCD does better than hubs.

I really hope your daughter can figure out something besides Grandma for child care. You worked hard for your retirement, you deserve to be able to enjoy it.

Yes, you know what I mean about it not being that hard. People who haven’t had years of practice doing a complicated task get understandably overwhelmed by government paperwork. Those of us who have spent our lives shuffling papers don’t because familiarity breeds contempt.

They’ve already paid for it, haven’t they? If you pay for something, you shouldn’t have to work for it too! /s

Good work getting all that stuff done Lily. Are you going to have to take a week off to recover?

Dang on the Nursemobile Flyboy. I’d have thought you were done with vehicle issues for at least a year.

If it was my oven, it wouldn’t have a passcode because I would never set it up. If I couldn’t just turn it on manually, I wouldn’t have bought it. But, that’s just me and I’m not a serious baker.

To be fair, I did volunteer for the job. In fact, that was how we got them to move here from Orlando… well, part of it, anyway. And I have enjoyed it - I missed so much with my own kid because I put her in day care when she was 3 weeks old - I had to work. Not to mention what a hoot Tobias is! But it is tiring. And I think I’m about ready to let someone else deal with them. It’s largely dependent on when they can afford to pay for day care.

I ordered and picked up Chinese for dinner. FCD is starting to feel better. He still hasn’t heard from the funeral home, so we may not be going tomorrow. They won’t call till they have the death certificates. But I will do a trash and recycling run tomorrow.

It’s chillage time! Recliner, here I come!!!

Nothing to worry about. Since they launched their new platform, mortgages are showing up on people’s accounts. They’re working to resolve it, and it’s not on my credit report. (Working in (commercial) credit, I don’t like seeing ‘past due’ on my account summary!)

Howdy Y’all! Sup has been et and I did clean up duty. We have full tummies and are ready for evenin’ chillage. I don’t know what the difference is between afternoon and evenin’ chillage. Mornin’ chillage is different cause that involves coffee and contemplatin’ gettin’ shevelled and such.

FlyBoy I agree. Past due is not a term I want to see on any of my accounts. Hope they get their act together soonest.

JtC congarats or commiserations, as the case may be. I’m sure you will ace those grants and have the center just rollin’ in $$$$$$!

I have a fairly new stove that is all fancy like, but I have no idea if I can turn the oven on remotely. Indeed, why would I ever want to do that. The idea of the oven bein’ home with no one home makes me want to clutch pearls and fall on my faintin’ couch!

Up from naptime. Having an Iberian martini, and watching hockey.

{{{{BBBoo and Cookie}}}}

Glad the wife is OK, and the mortgage is up to date, Flyboy.

DO IT!

It does allow people suffering from Feline Paralysis to preheat the oven.

Good news at the appointment. They did x-rays, then the doc examined me and said the something-or-other (tendon) popped out of place for a moment and got damaged, BUT it’ll heal itself…in 6-8 weeks. Ugh on the time frame, but he said I can keep walking on it, even though it hurts. The one time I COULD’VE just sucked it up! But the best news of all is that my knees are in good shape, including the cartilage, so I won’t ever have to have a knee replacement. Bad knees run in the family, so I’m very happy about that.

I was talking to my sister on my way home, and she said, "Why do you keep gasping and saying “aieee?” Uh, because I can suck it up but not shut up?

flyboy, damn on the Nursemobile. And now I have an image in my head of a white car shaped like an old school nurse’s cap. Wouldn’t it be cool if people drove cars that looked like their profession? Judges’ cars would look like gavels. Retail workers would drive cash registers. Programmers would drive monitors. And retirees would tool around in…recliners?

sari, Ripple’s a champ. I’m trying to imagine a phone and an oven talking to each other:

Phone: Hey, baby, let me make you hot…real hot.
Oven: Aw, you’re all talk.

Personally, I don’t want my devices talking to each other. They’d probably plot a coup.

Boo, I’m really sorry your knee is giving you fits. Is it the reactivation of an old injury? Would a crutch or a cane help? And I know what you mean about pain killers. I thought controlling pain helped healing. Maybe healing isn’t that important now.

JtC, congrats on the impending appointment!

Moooooom, you’ve provided quite a lot of daycare for your daughter and SIL, giving them an opportunity to get on their feet. At some point, they need to do it.

I’m sorry for your loss oopsie.

Glad that your wife wasn’t hurt flyboy.

Irked, came home, took the beast to the dog park, where he played with Ollie, Bandit and Layla Mae. A good time was had by all.

Saturday, SIL and I are supposed to go to the zoo (no, not as exhibits) for Zoolumination. I’m looking forward to it.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

It’s a black RAV4.

Yet another puzzle piece - her funeral is after regular morning service at her church, with some sort of unspecified refreshments provided by the church in between. At a Methodist church near Chicago…it’s probably coffee and orange drink with cookies. Thinking I might want to pack a couple protein bars for PWAISDN as he’s diabetic, and a cookies and juice lunch is not a good thing for him. Or we’ll just have brunch while the morning service is going on.

Evening all. Did pedal about 650 calories off this afternoon so of course I celebrated by going to 5 Guys for burger and fries and added…well, a lot of calories…but since I only do it once every month or two I can easily forgive myself. Dishes are washed and remain to be put away, but no real pressure to do that, they can sit there quietly for a bit.

flyboy, sorry about the car damage, but glad your favorite RN is OK. And nice to hear your banking can be as screwed up as mine sometime (but glad you’ve got it straightened out).

nellie, good news indeed, hope you heal soon.

FCM, enjoy chillage and hope FCD can do so too.

BBBoo, hope they can do someting to get your knees to behave.

Sari, glad Ripple is doing well, and a phone connecting with a stove…I think that’s against some religion’s tenets…

OK, finish the night’s internettin’ and then maybe some reading before bedtime. All y’all take care.

Thanks. Last week I took a simple step on the level in my dining room and my knee said “snap!crackle!pop!” loudly. I said to myself, “ah oh, this is gonna be trouble”. Arthritis runs in my family, I already knew my other knee was bone on bone and I think this was some cartilage or the other giving up the ghost in the other knee. I have a spiffy folding walker and canes I can use from the other knee being shredded 3 ways from Sunday in a fall 4 years ago. I’ve started taking Tylenol before I go to bed in hopes of it letting me sleep all night. If I have to pursue more I’ll go back to that ortho and beg for cortisone shots into the joint. Worked last time. Knee replacements are probably in my future given the arthritis showing on X-rays.

It’s humbling. Never know from one minute to the next if I can move it or whether if I try I’ll gasp in pain and say naughty words. I’m a night nurse, I know lots of bad words. Must not say naughty words around grandbabies. Must be able to climb stairs and get up off the couch around grandbabies without blurting out novel words and expanding their vocabulary.

Boo if grandma says it, it must not be a naughty word. I think that’s a rule. Hope you can get some relief for the knee soonest.

Nellie that’s at least some good news about your knee. Then again, you walk a lot so maybe it does not feel like good news yet.

MetalMouse I think appliances talkin’ to each other is OK. However an appliance talkin’ to, say, a witch’s cauldron might be cause for an appliance exorcism.

I extend good wishes to all with snapping/popping knees.

The junk team did a beautiful, careful job. We’ll have them back for the 2nd sleeper bed this summer. The drywaller was similarly delightful and will be back tomorrow; he’ll also be back this summer to do some additional repairs in the summer. It’s wonderful to get some House Stuff done (did I mention the gutters and yard?).

/coughsnorts porter all over the keyboard/

That sounds like the best plan. If it is anything like any of the funerals or whatever I’ve attended, things will drag on forever so it would be best to be well fed first.

OMG, I hate that feeling. It’s not my knees, its my hip and back that cause most of the mobility issues. There are times when I’m doing something so simple and easy when suddenly, out of nowhere, WHAMMO!!!

It is horrible and I am so sorry your knees are such a source of pain. I do know folks who have had knees replaces and for the most part, they are pretty happy. Of course, you are a nurse and nurses are often as good as doctors when it comes to being good patients.

It does feel good to see that annoyance gone, doesn’t it? How is your beloved wife feeling, you haven’t really updated us on her plague except to say that she tested negative…which can often mean nothing.

My fundraising is going apace…I found a writeable pdf of the grant request because I AM not messing around with filling out a paper application. Even if I had the patience, my already sloppy handwriting went to shit when computers happened AND the arthritis in my wrists and thumbs would stop me from getting through the first page.

A horrible thing almost happened here. We like to close the door to my stitching room when GG and VBC and sleeping and let the crabby old cat out of durance vile so he can eat some of GG’s kibble and poop in the catio box.

GG woke up early and was taking his waking up bath when the sun glinted on the door lever, so he flung himself off the bed to attack. This resulted in him not only unlatching the door, but pulling it open far enough that a kitty could get through. Like the crabby old cat (who was busy sleeping in a box), so GG tried to hide behind the door. Which closed it. Which scared him into hiding under the bed and crawling up on his favorite storage bin and taking a nap.

The horrible thing wasn’t that GG and crabby old cat might come face to face (GG has lots of hair, crabby old cat has a little mouth and can’t pull much out at once), it was that GG might figure out the he could open the doors which would really suck.

Aw, thanks for asking! My lovely wife is still a bit dragged out, and we’re both still tired. But overall she’s feeling better, and I had a cardiac treadmill stress test with no problematic findings and only a few contact dermatitis welts from the EKG pads.

Good news on both fronts!

Indeed! I’ve had some issues for over a year and finally insisted on rather tha asking for further evaluation. Now I know I can push snd exert myself more, which I didn’t want to do if I had developed a heart problem.
