Sparklers, bottle rockets, and the MMP

I’m about to launch into a major undertaking. I’ve removed all of the yarn from the green room - bags and bags of it. I’m about to start sorting so I can put it all away and have an idea of what I’ve got.

Bottom line: LOTS of yarn! Let the adventure begin!

Neat!!!
(Or should I say “knit”?)

Leviticus made me say it

Just me and the kid here for now. I don’t know for how long but I will enjoy the quiet while I can.
Yesterday my mother’s bf told me Sah-son told him he wants me to take him for a hair cut. Nice try but if Sah-son ever took it in his head to want a hair cut he’d come tell me himself. He’s starting to get a rock star from the 70s look but that’s okay by me. It’s just hair. The funny thing is the longer his hair gets the curlier it gets so it never really looks longer, just thicker.

I had a half of a left over cheeseburger sub from yesterday for my N.O.L. The other half may be dinner, or maybe not.

I kind of want a nap but I should be doing some cleaning and organizing.
Maybe a short nap.

MOOOOOOM that sounds like the perfect chore for bondin’ with Higgs and Taz. I’m sure they’ll want to help.

Sari if my hair were long it’d look like that. At least it used to look like that back in the 70s. I would tie it in a ponytail sometimes and it would be this big frizzy bunch of hair. I called it a poodle butt cause it was kinda like a pompom poodle tail. Yeah, I was stylin’ back in the day!

He also told you not to get a tattoo.

**sari **- I really don’t get some people and their obsession with hair. My mom can be like that, altho my youngest sister’s ever-changing technicolor tresses haven’t stopped. I reserve the right to think your (generic your, not necessarily *you * ) hair looks silly, but in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t affect me. At the bike rally, I saw a couple of tween boys with fluffy mohawks - maybe 1/2" of soft, curly hair in a strip down their skulls - it looked silly, but if they like it, more power to them. It’s not an indication of character - it’s just hair, right?

**kopek **- knit, crochet - I go both ways!

The following letter to the Washington Hospital Center Director of Nursing just went out in the mail:

Ya see, I can write something besides poison pen…

Howdy from da cave! Actually I’ve been here for almost an hour. I changed clothes and then got the smoker goin’. Hickory smoked ribs ‘n chikin are in the makin’! NUM! Let the festivities begin!

It’s just hair. Or, in the case of my bald brothers, hair today and gone tomorrow.

ETA: Right now it’s 95 Amurrkin out with a heat index of ONLY a hunnert. Positively frigid compared to yestiddy!

ETA Part 2: Great letter bbbobbio!

You had to get the “rookie mistakes” in there, though.
What if her boss is an asshole?

Great letter Bbboooobbbio. I cant’t wait for the one to the surgeon that flaked out on you though.

Moooommmm. I am just burned out. I need a sho Nuf vacay. What with all the training, the relentless stream of tourists and new employees I don’t see the opportunity anytime soon. I have the day off tomorrow so there is that. Our MWR dept is having a big shindig on the beach which I usually volunteer for but this year I just cannot do it. Now if I were being paid double time I’d be there.

Back later. Got Lucky Louie with me today and he is being a pill. Wants full attention, whining, wants me to rub his belly and just spilled a bottle of water all over my accounts payable. Glad it’s just water.

I have lost 5 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks. Starving.

The yarn is all sorted and stashed, and very little was tossed, except for one big mass of off-white that I’m pretty sure is wool. I don’t do wool, plus when I tried to roll part of it into a ball, it separated, and as I examined the bigger coil, there were several splits readily visible. I just didn’t want to deal with it. Someone donated it eons ago - it’s been sitting in my stash room for at least a year. Now it’s in the trash.

I also took advantage of the time to clean up the green room. It’s still a bit cluttered, but if we need a second guest room, it’d be really easy to make it ready.

Supper will be weenies for me and hot Italian sausages for FCD, fresh corn on the cob, and fresh Amish 'maters. Yum!!

Low 90s here, with way too much humidity. I’ve had quite enough summer, thanks. C’mon Arthur - we need rain!!

Ribs and chikin are smellin’ so nummerific! Gonna take ‘em off the smoker in about 45 minutes. The ribs will be wrapped in foil to finish cookin’ tomorrow in the oven. The chikin boobs, laigs, and thighs will go into a couple of foil lined plastic containers. Then all will be placed in da fridge when it all cools off a bit.

Meanwhile I am awaitin’ pizza. OYKW has gone to fetch it. I’s hongry!

That was nice of you BBBobbio

Nursing can’t be an easy job and they deserve some credit. I should have written a letter after my heart attack, the nurses were very patient with me.

Then there was one nasty nurse when I was in labor all those years ago. I remember her telling the doctor I was experiencing some* mild discomfort*. I wiggled my finger at her to get her to come closer so I could demonstrate some mild discomfort, in true cowardly fashion she ran away. Guess she wasn’t as stupid as she appeared to be.

Swampy, FCM I agree it’s just hair. My mother’s bf is bald and I think he gets jealous or something. I say enjoy it while you can, because sooner or later you grow up and have to do grownup things with it, or like many men, you lose it. He doesn’t get an afro, or at least not yet. We’ll see.
He has beautiful hair, I’d love to see how long it can get. His father had hair almost to his ass but it was so curly that when it dried it was up to his shoulders. Sah-sons hair isn’t that curly, at least not yet.
AT&T called and then put my on the phone with samsung. We got disconnected and I thought they’d call me back. They haven’t and I have no idea how to get them back. Oh well, I’ll call AT&T and start over.

Happy Thursday all!

Had a doctor’s appt. this morning at 8:30; all is going well, although I have switched medications and will hopefully get the problem sores on my legs treated by the Wound Care center. The medication I switched to will help with the diabetic neuropathy pain I’ve been having. I really like my doctor, he is so good; he explains things in a way that you can understand and has a very good connection with his patients. The wound care is going to treat me at home even! I am keeping a positive attitude about all this.

Bbbbbobbio, what a great letter! Glad you sent it, giving some recognition to staff who usually don’t get much respect. Good on you.

My daugher and I are munching on some Peruvian empanadas, beef and chicken. They are so good, but the sauces that accompany them are very spicy. The beef ones have raisins/currants in them, very tasty indeed.

In case you were wondering, the Amish corn and 'maters were AMAZING!!! I could have skipped the weenies and been very happy with just corn and 'maters. Happy tummy!

It’s clouding over, but the radar track takes all of the rain way north and west of us, dagnabbit!! Maybe we’ll get some later tonight. I hope.

Well then, there ain’t no way I’m messing with this guy!

no plans for tonight now. :frowning: Instead of two local fireworks shows there are now none (w/ a bunch of others cxl’d as well - Thanks, Arthur!) So I stopped to acquire a new case of beer on the way home.

Just found out yesterday that Styx & Foreigner are in town tonight, mainly because of the news story that two of their tour buses caught fire. The comments were hilarious:
– Call the fire dept, it’s Urgent & hope they have Too much time on their hands.
– The buses are not Cold as Ice, more like Hot Blooded.
– Ya know, Nothing ever goes as planed.
– Since they were in a parking lot by the river, there was even a comment about if they drove them into the river, the water would extinguish the fire & then the buses could Come Sail Away.
Damn, I would’ve liked to have seen them. :frowning:

Ribs ‘n chikin have exited the smoker. Now they are settin’ on the kitchen counter coolin’ down. OYKW sampled a laig and pronounced it good. I couldn’t deny him ONE chikin laig now could I? Also pizza has been ingested.

Life is good.

We got lots of rain here along with the thunder and lightning.

Congrats on the weight loss Butters. I need to get losing.

Time to recline! MWAH!!

Hot Italian sausage…mmmmmm.

I saw some musicians today! One played bass and one played xylophone. It was a combination that worked amazingly well. See for yourself.
