Yep.
I was listening to Flogging Molly (headphones and no, it can’t be heard by other people) when one of my coworkers asked for the date. Nobody asked why I got a sudden attack of the giggles (advantages of being with a bunch of IT folk, we all assume the rest of the room is also nuts).
I’m up too early, don’t know if I’m staying up or not.
It’s a clear 46 outside, supposed to get up to 62. One percent chance of rain. We’ll see.
Poor Sah-son, the temper of the mother falls onto the son.
He put the dog out yesterday evening and the dog, being that the weather is nice, is getting a little wanderlust, bless his heart.
Sah-son got his shoes on and went rushing out the door as the neighbor was parking his van in the designated spot. The guy jumped out of his van and started yelling, “I’m in the lines, I’m in the lines!”. The other one opened the door and came running out to see what the fuss was about.
Poor Sah-son, he has nothing to do with this, he just wanted to get the dog in. He didn’t know what to say or do, so he bent over and started petting the dog.
It’s not easy being the son of a crazy mama.
Yesterday turned into a grumpy day for me.
I hope today will be happier.
I don’t do green - my family is of 100% Polish background. OK, I didn’t do one of those genetic tests, but grandparents and great-grandparents were born in Poland, so that’s good enough for me. Anyway, I’m wearing a red polo today, but it wasn’t deliberate or anything. Just lucky.
**Carnac **- I’m not going to visit my mother this weekend - not till next Sunday to get my big chocolate bunneh!
For all intents and purposes, this is my last day here. Any guesses how productive I’ll be? Yesterday, I might have gotten 2 whole hours of work to do…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 81 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon, tonight, tomorrow, and Sattidy. We shall see. I am slackin’ a bit this mornin’ bein’ as I shall start my day in large and in charge Dawson, Jawja which is easier to get to from da cave.
red since I live in the county, I intend to be the entire county character.
OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas and alack, I must commence purtification for irk.
Boss just came by to see what loose ends I have to tie up. Um, he’s supposed to know what I’m doing, isn’t he? But it’s the first time all week he’s come by. Idiot.
I told him I intend to shred tomorrow, pack up my personal stuff, turn in my CAC, and be gone before 10. Apparently he’s got papers I need to fill out, too. Whatever.
He was amazed that I’m not taking time off before starting the next job. Well, I was going to do that, but he *insisted *he needed me to stay thru the end of this week. I don’t need time off. I’ve had enough of that in this cubicle.
In honour of St. Patrick’s Day, here’s one of my favourite limericks:
The tooter who tooted the flute
Tried to teach two young tooters to toot.
Said the two to the tutor,
“Is it harder to toot, or
To tutor two tooters to toot?”
Feels like it should be Firday already. Why isn’t it?
Got my retirement briefing, looks like I’ll make a few hundred more than I thought I would, which is a good thing. Also made the payment for the S. Africa/Zambia trip (next up–Yellow fever vaccination–oh joy). Good thing this was a 3-paycheck month (paid every other Thorsday). Also will do my taxes this weekend, I suspect I will owe a tidy sum due to converting some of my Mutual Funds to an Annunity this year. And the good news just keeps coming…
Had to go to a meeting at 1:30 yesterday because they needed a US Government person (contractor and foreign liaison rules) and since my boss (who left me in charge) had agreed to go…then I had to rush back to my Division Chief’s meeting at 2:30 which I had been told was on…to find he had called it off.
Both of them are getting Serum of ipecac in their coffee…:dubious:
I had a job years ago with no work to do. I sat for 6 weeks with nothing to do, but the hard part was I had to look busy in case the big boss came walking through. For a while I’d hide a paperback inside the manual I was pretending to read. I sharpened a lot of pencils. Pissed off the secretaries because I burned up the copier making copies of the manual - boss’s orders. I learned how to work the switchboard and could kill an hour a day by covering for the secretaries while they took lunch.
It sucks to be stuck with nothing to do.
I tired to go back to sleep, didn’t work. So now I’m up and can’t decide whether to irk or unload the dishwasher.
I think there is no Irish in me. One day I’m going to do the ‘23 and me’ thing.
One of the radio stations I listen to is having each DJ shift do live broadcasts from a different bar. Morning shift is 6-10am. Between March Madness & it being the 17th; remember what Sgt. Phil had to say as there’s no doubt going to be lots of extra idiots out there today.
Boss emailed me some more paperwork and I’ve got it all ready to go for tomorrow.
On the downer side, I only have a couple of $5 bills and no change, and I have nothing to drink with my lunch. I supposed I could make tea or just have water, but the water here tastes funky. Alas…
And I just figured out that I have a Dr apt on Tues at 3:15 - that would be my second day at the new job and I have to ask to be let out early… Way to make a good impression.
Howdy all from irk. So I think I forgot to tell yall I got a traffic ticket on base a couple weeks ago for having an expired tag. It was expired since Sept. Anyway, it was a mandatory traffic court appearance on base. Well, I forgot to go  I am face book friends with the “judge” and messaged him last night and he wrote me back “why you stressing?” whew. Anyway, I scanned and emailed him the ticket and the proof of my new tag and hopefully that is done.
Sorry – interthingy acting weird today. I wanted to wear green today but was faced with the situation that what little Kelly I have is not on what one would consider work appropriate even for a warehouse so ------------ its olive drab pants and a day-glo safety green t-shirt shirt over a safety green long-sleeved t. With my day-glo green vest and shoes I may not look very Irish but by God I’m going to be seen!
