Springing into cleaning in the MMP

Do you do special spring cleaning chores? I’ve got a few things I’ll be doing today, but they have nothing to do with it being spring - just stuff that needs doing. And later this week, I think I may finally clean the windows - they’re looking kinda sad. Rah.

Happy Moanday!

First! Tis good to be juvenile..

I am up tres early because Ariel had a choke episode yesterday and I need to monitor her food today. She’s used to eating breakfast around 5 but it will be a little late today. She is fine but did have an emergency vet visit yesterday.

I don’t do spring cleaning because it’s spring. I do cleaning because my house needs it. I’ve been very lax about keeping up with chores. Dishes are always done, floors are vacuumed, but there’s a lot of other things I’d like to do, like tackle the linen closet.

Must get dressed and feed the starving horse.

Morning all, Slept in until 7am so refreshed and ready for the new week. Not much on the agenda, I leave for Atlanta sometime Firday and won’t be back until Sunday, so not much shopping planned. Beautiful Spring day, 60F heading to 74F and no rain in sight…that’s supposed to show up here on Saturday night.

As for Spring cleaning, I do usually open up the windows on a warm day or two to air out the house, but nothing special is planned. I do need to use some of that non-leaking water to tidy up places I haven’t gone in awhile, but I do keep the places I spend 90% of my time reasonably clean so not in a rush… And I do have to pickup my Giant winter comforter and store it till it gets cold again.

wet one, hope Ariel is doing better.

And onward into the week.

In the Dr waiting room waiting to get Tobias from SIL. Poor kid has flu b so no school for him. He’s mine today - so much for getting much done today. Apparently SIL is sick, too. Hope they don’t share their sick.

Definitely a Moanday.

Ariel was screaming for her breakfast when I got to the barn so she has recovered. I need a nap later.

I’ve lived in my townhouse 21 year and have never had the outside of the windows cleaned. That is on the list of things to do, call Bubbles, a local window washing franchise.

I did some badly needed vacuuming yesterday. I still need to attack the floors with the Boma, but they’re dust free for the time being, at least.

Last night after yoga, we decided to grab a puppy-dog, and go to the local wings joint. Chloé got some bits of de-sauced chicken and a couple of french fries. No, she’s not spoiled at all. Why do you ask. We were too full of buffalo wings for the original step two, which was to hit the Sonic for milkshakes, because there is no universe where this is not funny:

Mrs Magill sent me a link to a virtual conference for the NGLCC Day of Visibility tomorrow. I am of two minds. If I attend, that makes it more real, but I might get more tools for my toolbox.

I talk about “real” like that’s a option. It’s real. It’s happening. I just don’t want to admit it. I know I’m stuck on my Egyptian river cruise, and I should probably get off. It’s just that there are crocodiles in the water, and I don’t want to get eaten. Maybe I should just resign myself to be Cleopatra, Queen of Denial. Actually, I kinda like that, but I should probably find someone else to emulate.

Right - enough MMP journaling. Let’s see what happening today.

Sorry - It’s not happening this time. They’ve decoupled names from records in the bill to get around HIPAA. I just want to live my life in peace. Is that too much to ask?

metalmouse I wish I could open the windows while the weather is pleasant, but that time of year also involves pollen, which is not my friend. At all.

Wait a second - you all clean your windows?

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with no predicted change, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “That one guy say partly fucking sunny. He’s a fucking dumbass though.”

I barely do more than basic cleaning all year round, I am not in any way inclined to do extra work! To be fair, I might get the cobwebs down from the high ceilings, but that’s about all.

That doesn’t sound good at all, I hope she is ok!

Mollie Chloé is adorable! I hope you decide to attend the virtual conference tomorrow, having more tools in the box is a bonus, you never know what you might need.

Busy day today, but relatively quiet. I was up at my normal Monday time, the cats got fed and litter trays were cleaned before I got showered and dressed. I irked all morning then went to the supermarket for groceries at lunchtime. Came home and fed everyone, then more irkage until it’s time to log off. I have a gym class tonight and ‘im indoors is on his way back from Scotland so I’ll see him later.

I’m not sure when he’ll be here, the line just north of our station was completely closed this morning after an “incident”. Sadly that tends to mean a collision of person and train :frowning: He has options to break his journey further north of us and come back via a different route but the staff on his current train said they would see if the line was open and if so, they would be able to continue all the way back to here. We’ll see.

I hope that they feel better soonest and don’t pass their sick to the rest of the family.

Doesn’t your complex take care of the outside? Or do you own your townhouse?

She knows where her chicken comes from. Do y’all know all of the best pup cup places?

How much longer until you can retire and get the hell out of Tennessee?

This is me. TBH, when it comes to mind or becomes obvious, I do special cleaning, but keeping up with the basics works for me.

I hope that Ariel is feeling better, wet one.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP.

While Nelson was up in my lap this morning, I dipped his paws in turpentine and lit a match trimmed his front nails. It’s not as hard to do that as it used to be, but I just about have to sit on him for the back ones. Fortunately, he wears those down more on the concrete walkway than he does the front ones, so I only have to do that a few times a year.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Oh my goodness, your poor starving lil horsy! Poor dear must have been skin and bones by the time you arrived!

Do you know why she choked? Do horses bolt their food when given tasty stuff? Anyhow, dang for both of you and I hope it doesn’t happen again. Give her some ear rubs for me when you are there for dinner.

If you haven’t updated your windows, you might think about it as well. Windows are much different nowadays and do a much better job of insulating your home than the old single pane windows do, plus you can get double hung windows so you can wash the outsides from the inside.

We used to pay someone to wash the outsides of our windows every spring, now I can clean them whenever I get annoyed by them.

I use the winters for cleaning out the closets and such because spring is when its time to play in the garden. Windows got cleaned in the spring because that’s when most of the rain was over for the year but that’s about all the special cleaning I do in the spring.

I’m planning on having the house painted this year if I can get the paint figured out. Picking colors is not my forte and there are way too many choices. This is probably going to be a room by room thing, if I wait to start until I have all of the colors picked, it won’t get done for years or decades. I should probably go to Lowes and get more paint chips for the living room. The ones I have taped to the wall aren’t thrilling me as much as they did in the store under different lighting.

It always surprises me to see Harry’s raven actually fly anymore. I’ll bet he weighs at least five pounds now that he’s basically a house bird.

UFOs! Now I get it.

I also have an Oort jar

The Oort cloud is made up of the leftover bits and pieces from the creation of the universe, my Oort jar is full of the leftover bits and pieces of thread from my creations.

Some folks date and keep their jars as a visual reminder of all the stitching they have done, I don’t. Mostly I have it because I’m lazy. If I put the little bits of cut off thread on my desk, the ceiling fan will waft them off to the floor where the cats might eat them. Not wanting to get up and go to the trash every time I cut a thread, I put them in a jar to keep them in place and then dump the jar when it gets full.

Every so often I’ll play thread chicken and lose, so being able to dig around and find a three inch bit of thread for just two stitches can be very helpful

So today dawned wet and soggy. It is supposed to warm up to around 70 and then get warmer for the rest of the week. The doves and gold finches have been around for breakfast, I haven’t seen any starlings for a couple of days which is kinda odd. I would have thought that once they found a sucker with seed, they would be back daily.

We don’t have anything planned for today besides the normal day to day chores. I washed all of the pillow cases and table linens yesterday so I’ll probably get them ironed today. If I go to Lowes, I’ll have lunch at Capt D’s. Hubs has never been a fan of seafood in the past so I won’t feel badly about having a treat while he’s eating a baked chicken breast for lunch.

I wish he liked stir-fry. I could use up a lot of the freezer meat in that, but he is still adjusting to eating mostly not-meat for every meal and it isn’t going that well. He still considers lettuce to be a salad dressing delivery system and doesn’t think that seeing a lot of colors on his plate is a good thing.

We always get the spoiled ones too. We just do not understand how that keeps happening!

I just cannot understand why folks with GD are considered to be a threat to anyone but themselves. I don’t think that the GD is the reason for folks to feel suicidal, its societies reaction to it that is the cause. People should stop worrying about what happens between consenting adults and start worrying about what is happening to non-consenting people instead.

I must be more intimidating than you, the fuzzbutts gave up fighting me over their claws long ago. Of course, cats sleep more than dogs so I can wait until they are sleeping and do one paw at a time. It might take me a few days to get them all but I don’t really care as long as they don’t have daggers on their toes when they are making biskits on me.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! I am up, caffeinated, and cleanded up. Definitely not yawny. ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin and the sun is peekin’ out, with a predicted high of 78 and sunny. I will don acceptable attire in a bit and head over to the church house for the noon Eucharist. OYKW chooses to be a heathen today. I will pickup food from Captain D’s (GMTA JtC) for today’s main need to feed on my way back to da cave. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS inactivities.

WetOne glad Ariel is better today and didn’t starve before you got there.

red glad Nelson survived the torture session.

Once the tree orgy subsides, we give the back porch a scrub down. I suppose that and gettin’ the cee-mint pond ready count as Spring cleanin’.

OK, need to get myself presentable. Jeans, a decent pullover shirt and sneaks should do it.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Mollie Chloe is a keeeeeey-ootie! Skritches from Unca swampy. I encourage you to attend the virtual conference. They might have things to say and tools you need to encourage you.

MOOOOOOM hope the Tobester and SIL feel better soonest and don’t pass on the germs.

The usual Monday loading, I was doing 300 Top Yellow/Middle White. The boxline jammed right at the end, but it did get fixed. I got gas($3.99/gal, love that victory pricing), and did my Aldi run. I had dry, flavorless bits with blueberries for breakfast.
I don’t really do any “Spring” cleaning, apart from the couple times a year I clean under the appliances.

Sounds like they use a pole.
Glad Ariel is feeling better, even if she starved.

PUPPAH!
{{{{Mollie}}}}

Hope Tobias and SiL feel better. And ho you and FCD don’t get the crud.

No need for spring chores here in The Home. If we were still in Portland, I’d be cleaning the screens and the windows and scrubbing the winter’s layer of moss off the back deck. Management has re-screened the window screens and there will be a contractor shortly to wash all the windows whilst I sip a warm beverage and watch him dangle from the roof.

Exercising has been done. The wife reminded me that our 33rd anniversary is coming up on April Fool’s Day. The niece is going to bring us lunch, apparently.

I’ve registered.

Haven’t been around here much lately, but I’m still alive and kickin’ selling pizzas.

A customer the other day mentioned that they almost always see me now, and then called me “a rock around here.”

Anyways, just wanted to confirm my continued existence. Y’all have fun with this “cleaning” nonsense.

{ adds to ever-growing list of “shit I had no idea I was supposed to do” }

Good morning! Cold but sunny here, so I’ll kerp mulching and mow the lawn if it stays nice enough. This is False Spring in Cascadia–winter will likely return.

When it’s warm for real, we’ll switch the bedding and put away the winter clothes. Since I’m having surgery in a few weeks, my part of anything major will be deferred to Real Summer.

Mollie, I’m sorry. It’s cruel.

Just finished the morning shopping and sammich run and am sufficiently fed to see me through the afternoon (ok, I’ll have a banana in a little bit, jeez…). Some gym time followed by picking up my comforter at the dry cleaners will occupy some of the afternoon and what the heck, might do some cleaning around the house…ya never know…Lots of clouds have moved it, very little chance of rain but they look rather ominous anyway, as clouds can do.

FCM, hope you can stay well, albeit sharing viruses is a family tradition for all of humanity…

Never cleaned the outside of my window (or the inside for that matter, do clean the window blinds on rare occasions).

Mollie, lovely pics of a a very happy dog. And glad you signed up for the conference.

boo fae, hope 'Im Indoors makes it home in good time.

red, I have mentioned before watching the You Tube channel “Girl With the Dogs” and the problems dogs (and cats) have with having their nails clipped was illuminating. Hope Nelson has recovered from his ordeal.

JtC, Sherwin Williams has a site you can put colors up on a room picture, you may get another type of paint but it may help in narrowing things down: Color Visualizer | Sherwin-Williams

swampy, a good Holy Week for you and the rest of your fellow parishioners.

Cookie, an early happy Anniversary wish.

shoe, been wondering about you, thanks for checking in. Don’t be a stranger.

And into the afternoon I go.

My existence is continuing too, although I’m not kicking out any pizza (or anything else useful as far as I can tell). When I’m not keeping tiny humans alive (grandchildren) I seem to have fallen into single-handedly keeping several hospitals afloat and a dishearteningly large raft of doctors off the streets and out of trouble. Arm is still broken, started PT for it. Last week diagnosed with osteoporosis which sets off a complicated regime of labs, office visits, pills, injections and dietary changes (although those aren’t as boring and troublesome menu changes as JtC’s hub has to endure). Monthly injections at the doctors which cost $2,600 each-should be fun getting insurance to pay for those.

I was successful at getting myself to a “No Kings” here in ruby red Lincoln, surrounded by even redder Nebraska. Much different public response then the first one in January- hundreds and hundreds of cars gave us a thumbs up or honked in support. Only two middle fingers out of the thousand that drove by. Not a single window rolled down and something screamed at us, not one. One tricked out pickup did seem to coal roll us which was amusing but not discouraging considering what they had to pay for the gas to do it. Nary a counter-protestor in sight, just 10 times the honking and thumbs up that we got in January. I’m trying to guard my heart and not get hopeful.

I’m sorry you’re having such medical trouble.

Bbboo I have osteo and take Fosamax once a week. My friend has osteo and is also looking at the monthly shot. She was told the shots give you out of this world GERD so please look into that.

Ariel choked because she is a fast eater and ate her hay too fast. She also needs her back teeth filed because some have points and that interferes with chewing.

I own my townhouse, but since the windows are on the INSIDE of the building, they are mine. I had them replaced about 10 years ago. If I had an extra $40K I would replace them again with the tilt in kind. But each window is 5’ x 5" so I don’t know if tilting would work.

I was too tired last night after dealing with horse stuff, so I stopped at Portillo’s and got a bacon cheeseburger and an order of onion rings. Both were delicious but I ate only half of each. Threw the remaining o rings out, and had the remaining half chee-burger for lunch, along with half an apple.

How can one little kid wear me out so fast? Even an allegedly sick kid. He played some games on my tablet, ate a good lunch, had some strawberries, and now he’s watching the Baby Shark movie - betcha didn’t know such a thing existed!! We did stop at Food Lion on the way back from the Dr office, so I got some ‘nanners and a few other things. One of the other things was a hunk o’ ham. I need to cut it into meal-size hunks for the freezer - I think that’s a chore for a child-free day.

It’s been raining on and off - not heavy, but enough to keep us indoors (because I don’t want to be outside in a drizzle. I don’t feel like I’ll get anything of value done today. Dammit. And I may have Tobias tomorrow if SIL is still as bad as he is today. He looked like crap when I saw him at the Dr office.

I had such plans for today, tho the rain would have messed with a couple of them. Let’s see if I can get a few things done while Tobias watches TV.
