Springing into cleaning in the MMP

Good to see you back shoe and BBBoo!

hey shoe!

it was a wild weekend with the new chair and delicate pantry. i was planning to call the plumber this morning…until i got into the office. it turns out i may have to go to nyc tomorrow for the office. i’ll wait until i’m sure i can be home when the plumber arrives.

there is the big paschal clean thing that happens at home or the church that could be called spring cleaning. in church, traditionally there are 2 cleaning times. between liturgy and vespers on lazarus saturday, and liturgy and midnight office on great and holy saturday.

swampbear, your candle cleaning post reminded me of the huge vats of boiling water they would put the candlestands, menorahs, and candlesticks in on lazarus saturday. the boiling water would melt the wax off the candleholders, then they would get polished.and put back together. the church i grew up in has a huge chandelier. for the longest time someone would have to go up huge, tall ladders and take all the crystals off. they would get dipped in i believe an ammonia based solution and put back. then at some point in the 80’s i believe they got a pulley system and could lower and raise the chandelier. much safer.

at home it is a big clean out. move everything, sweep, wipe down, clear out pantries and fridges, and get the majority of paschal cooking done.

it is a wild week.

what an adorable pupper, mollie!

Great to see you shoe!!
It’s on my list of shit I know I oughtta do but donwanna. Along with cleaning the windows. Long about 6 PM when the sun is shining, my kitchen window is un-see-throughable. I’ve gotta take the storm windows out, wash them, the wash the real windows. It all takes time on a little ladder, and I just can’t be arsed to do it.

Dog is having a pupsicle, my left hand is bleeding (not related at all) I was productive at the museum, I think I made the shop 20% easier to use, simply by removing unnecessary plastic lids. The left hand bleeding relates to the stupid plastic lids that bit me last week.

OMG!!!

I put an ad on FB to sell the car seat that Tobias has outgrown. And I already checked - there are no recalls on it. I’m only asking $20, since I only paid $50 for it in the first place. I forgot to put Cash Only in the ad.

So I’m getting messages from a woman who wants it, but she wants me to set up a Zelle account for payment. Now I’m not much for carrying cash, but getting $20 from the credit union is no huge deal. I don’t know where this one banks and why getting cash is such a hassle. But if she wants the seat, she brings da green. Is that asking too much??

Roxy was sent home today feeling ick. Daughter figures it’ll hit her, too - she’s already warned her boss. Tobias didn’t act sick at all - makes me wonder if he really has the flu. No matter - he’s gone home and I guess we’ll wait to see if we’re infected.

Heckuva Moanday.

Oh, and I took down the ramp to the garage today. We installed it when MIL was living here so she could use her walker or the wheelchair more easily. She’s been gone over a year and I finally removed it. So, how long before I forget it’s not there and fall on my way to my car? Predictions??

Isn’t that why God invented rain, so we don’t have to clean the outsides of our windows?

Howdy Y’all! The Eucharist was nice and well-attended for noon on a Moanday. The side chapel, which holds thirty, was full. I did the readin’s and assisted with the Chalice even though I was not vested. We et Captain Ds fish and chips. Then I accomplished nappage.

Mollie glad you registered.

shoe good to know you are alive.

BBBoo glad you are alive as well. Sorry about the osteoporosis. Hope the treatments help. ISTR Sally Fields hawkin’ some treatment for that several years back.

MOOOOOOM hope the flu ick stays away.

Rocker the Orthodox Church takes Paschal cleanin’ some kinda serious. I got tahrd just readin’ about it all!

Nope. I’m guessing that you’ve made note to put cash only in your next ad. Doesn’t mean that ijits won’t show up without (don’t ask how I know that), but you can point to the ad and direct them to the nearest ATM.

Welcome home to Shoe and BBBO

She may not bank with your CU, but for me, getting cash is a HYUUUUGE hassle, unless I wanna buy one (1) unnecessary thing (hello, random bag o’ M&Ms!) and then hafta get ca$h back … assuming I went to one of the few retailers who even offer that option.

For a bag of M&Ms I will never … okay, will soon … eat up.

Assuming that retailer even offers that cash back. Many do not.

I had to “coal roll” but immediately understood upon reading the definition.

Up from naptime. Having an Old Fashioned with bacon cheeseburger, fries, and corn with Old Bay. Watching cokking shows.

This makes us happy. {{{{BBBoo}}}} for all the medical troubles.

Except God is a slacker who doesn’t squeegee, so there are water spots, and post rain dirt.

Thank you, dear one and all.

I’m hanging in, hanging in.

It’s not technically cleaning, but I’m going over some dirty grout in my tiled entryway with a grout pen. It’s a lot cheaper and quicker than having cruddy grout dug out and replaced. You first clean the grout so it’s not greasy (ok, there’s some cleaning), and when it’s dry, you go over it with this thing that looks like a Sharpie but is charged with tough exterior latex paint. It covers the dirty grout nicely and it’ll look good for years. I had already done this once, six years ago, and it took this long to start looking dingy. So I just redid it, and it was quick and easy, and looks way, way better.

The tuber for the fancy dahlia which I planted a month ago is just starting to show sprouts above ground. I hope I don’t kill it and that it blooms well this summer. It wasn’t cheap, but I wanted a big showy dinner plate dahlia and those cost more.

Lunch was fettucine done cacio e pepe style, but with leftover chicken chunks added. Boy, do I love pecorino romano cheese.

Tomorrow I’m going to go to a movie, something I only do about every five years. I want to see Project Hail Mary, and I’ll be doing it alone. Mr. brown doesn’t go to movies anymore.

Wish I could be your movie date.

I’m quiet, don’t check my phone, and simply want to stuff my pie hole with enough popcorn (blurrrffed with that disgusting-but-please-shower-more yellow “omg yass plz I know it’ll kill me, I don’t care, three more pumps plz & thx”) and frankly, don’t care … is there more popcorn?

ETA I might fall asleep in the middle of The Big War Scene.

… where’s the damn popcorn, with the weird yellow goop?!?

snerk

… falls back asleep ..

snrwrk!!!

… where’s my popcorn?

Evening all. Spent a fair amount of the afternoon sweating, but also did a little more shopping at the Mart of Wal and picked up my dry cleaning (and oops, in typing this I realize it is still in the car, BRB…and it’s all put away–at my age, if I remember something I forgot to do initially, I need to ‘do that now’ or it fades out again…). Sonic Drive-in provided the Moanday repast, but their fries aren’t very good so despite being pretty cheap, they may come off the Hamburger and Fries list. Found the owner of a lost soccer ball from Saturday, working to arrange a return, hopefully before Friday.

And let’s see what the afternoon and evening has brought about to this merry crew…

BBBoo, sounds like health establishment has got their hooks into you; hope insurance does it’s thing.

Wet one, had to look up GERD and yuck, I hope BBBoo and everyone else can pass on that. And have heard of Portillo’s, looked them up and there is one in Atlanta, unfortunately way far from where I’ll be this weekend, so some other time…

FCM, glad you survived the day with the little guy. And no, so many people have fallen in love with the debit card and Zelle/Paypal/et. al. that I do worry that, like with credit cards, they will get over-extended. So I try to pay cash about half the time. And prediction: 3 weeks.

shoe, I always say no to cash-back, since there are fees involved in most places, so about the only work my checkbook gets anymore (outside of house repairs) is writing checks to cash. And your last message is an indication of why we miss you so much…

lucky, I don’t think I have ever cleaned my grout that way. Didn’t even know you could clean it, so there is something else for me to ignore…. And I guess I need to go see Project Hail Mary, I read the book a year or so ago and liked it and The Martian is my all-time favorite movie, so need to get to it.

And 9:20pm, so need to finish things up here and head off to bed. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Ziva ventured out to the living room and Otis lost his mind. He wanted to play with the gray fluff-ball. She hissed and growled and swung claws in his general direction. Boy, did he retreat fast! Pic and a bad video on my FB feed.

Daughter is doing WFH tomorrow. She wanted me to keep Tobias again but we have an appointment at 10. So maybe tomorrow afternoon I can get the stuff that I wanted to do today.

For now, tho, sleepy-bye. zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Congrats. That’s a long time without killing each other

I’m proud of you, girlfriend. You are braver than you know.

Its always good to know that you are still among the walking. How’s your lil handsome dude? Cute and cuddly as ever I hope?

People talk about putting their winter clothes away and it makes me think I don’t have enough stuff. Winter stuff goes on the right side of my closet and right side of my dresser, summer stuff goes on the left. I thought that would change when we moved here, but maybe I’m just doing it wrong.

The cruelty is the point.

I worry about you and your lovely wife as well.

Thank you, but that gives me even more choices than going to the store and I’m already experiencing decision paralysis over them.

I had two samples mixed and they gave me a free paint brush so on Wednesday I’ll paint some trim and the wall next to it. It will be warm enough for me to open windows and get rid of the stink.

Keeping tiny humans alive and entertained is a very useful thing to do. Dang about the osteoporosis, that really sucks. I do hope your insurance doesn’t try to play any waiting games with you.

As to Hubs and his new diet…while I will never say it, there is this evil part of my mind that keeps thinking “if only you had been willing to eat rabbit food once in a while, I’ll bet you wouldn’t be here today”.

He likes to drink flavor infused sparkling water and has been drinking even more in his attempt to keep himself properly hydrated. We have recently learned that the sort of water he drinks is acid instead of alkaline so now he’s lost that too.

I’m so happy you were able to get to the protest. Not only did it seem much different, I’m noticing the lack of red hats and trump shit being sold at pop-up road side stands. I’m glad you are feeling a little hopeful, I’m starting to think we need to pay more attention to how the French protest their despots.

That sounds both uncomfortable and expensive. How often does this happen to the poor girl? Give her more ear rubs, this getting old thing sucks for critters too.

Yanno, normal cuts don’t do that. Either you should have gotten stitches, or you need to talk to your doctor about not healing properly. Not nagging, just sayin’

That’s not the best way to find out if your vaccines work. I sure do hope they do their job!

I just wanted to say that despite being a godless heathen, I enjoy hearing you two discuss church rituals on the regular. Its interesting without being peachy

I learned about Dawn Powerwash when we were dealing with the kitchen here. That stuff cuts old built up grease in one or two applications, no real scrubbing involved. Except the 90 degree corners, they took pipe cleaners to get all of the edges clean.

I really want to know how your dahlia does. I have a place in front of the porch that would be great for them, but I keep reading that they are fussy and I don’t know what I’m doing in my yard anyhow.

I see the tubers on sale all the time so if you do well, I’ll buy a few and see if I can do it as well. They are so beautiful.

I used to do stunts.
I’ve jumped out of moving cars for a laugh.
I’ve had a girlfriend who’d literally tried to kill me.

Just signing up for a zoom meeting is the scariest thing I’ve ever done.

I have long said “ya got to do it when you remember to do it, otherwise you won’t remember to do it.”

Nah, it is just a surface scratch in an unfortunate spot that catches on my pants pocket. I also have a sliver of plywood in my thumb that I can’t seem to get ahold of with tweezers. After this many years of building shit, I’m used to having my hands kinda beat up.

Ok, bedtime for me and the dog. Stay safe, y’all.

Have you considered a SodaStream? Just H2O and CO2 and whatever flavoring you want to add. My evening fizz water tonight had a couple of slices of ginger in it, but a slice of citrus is good (don’t forget to rim the glass for more flavor) or, since your Hubs has a sweet tooth, some sugar free syrup.

Enjoying running out the door every time I take out trash, thanks for asking.

Despite my best efforts, he pulled that  again just now.

He’ll be back if he doesn’t get run over by a car or chopped by a dog die howling into the cold wind for his kibble.

I swear, if he wasn’t so cute and snuggly, I would … expensive bastard .. when he comes back, imma SNUGGLE him …
