sprint mafia #01 - sign-up / game

The day’s almost over. Just in case I die tonight, I want some arguments out there.

Svejk, I think Ender didn’t vote for you because you’re scummy. He voted for you because Mahaloth is the scum. If either you or I died today, we lose. I think he figured neither you or I had the same suspicion as he did.

I accused you to get the discussion rolling, not necessarily because I had a big lean on you. I had no idea who the scum was until Mahaloth “flipped a coin.” Why’d he flip a coin, so early in the day? I think it’s because he doesn’t really care which of us dies.

We should spend the rest of the day watching for Mahaloth to change his vote, and then change our vote accordingly so you don’t get lynched.

Go town!

Well I’m glad you no longer think I’m scum  Not sure if I’m ready to love again, though… In any case, I’m watching this thread and if **Mahaloth **did change his vote, I’d see that as a pretty big scum tell.

final vote count:

Mosier (2): Svejk (65), Mahaloth (73)
Svejk (2): Mosier (72), Enderw24 (79)

No one has been lynched due to a tie.

Night 3 has now begun and will last 24 hours.

Alas and alack. It’s a night attack. Who’s got whose back? I think, therefore, I…frack. I can’t come up with a good rhyme.

/anticipate

What’s going on? Tell me, what’s going on?

Sorry everyone, my day went unexpectedly sideways.

** Ender24w** has been killed.

It is now Day 3. Night 4 will begin in 48 hours.

I feel really sorry for that poor fellow. Thank goodness I wasn’t targetted.

HAHAHAHAHA.

I kid because I died.

I know who killed me.

I know

Whataworldwhataworldwhataworld.

**Good luck Town!
**

Well, damn. He was the only one I knew for 100% sure was town.

Mahaloth, I’m pretty sure you’re scum. If you don’t give me a pretty damn convincing reason not to, I’m voting for you.

Sideways, bad? Is everything ok?

Damn.

And he was only two days from retirement.

oh no, nothing bad - just didn’t have internet access due to unexpected changes in plans etc etc.

ha, crap - sorry about that

Why are you pretty sure I’m scum? I’m vanilla town. I’m renewing my vote from yesterDay. Should I re-roll? I’m not sure.

Vote Mosier

OOG

Sprint mafia indeed.

I await the day when a game is over on night negative one.

Wow.

OOG

Vote: Mahaloth

I think you’re barely participating to try and stay under the radar. I think you didn’t care who got lynched yesterday because you would have won either way.

Oops, looks like another ‘wall o’ text’. TLDR version: sometimes, scum hide in plain sight and you can simply point to their slacking to make your case. But not this time.

Vote Mosier

The case against **Mahaloth ** is straight forward. He’s hardly contributed, and the die roll to decide between me and Mosier was lazy. But that’s really what it looks like - someone who’s just being lazy, who’s not really involved in the game. But then again, in the other game I’ve played with him he was just like that, and turned out town. Also, there’s little that we can point to that has actually undermined the town effort.

Mosier’s case, mostly made in post #81, is off for a number of reasons. Here it is.

Firstly, if by that point you’re sure that **Mahaloth **is scum, and you think that Enderw24 agrees with you, then why did you wait until Enderw24 voted to come out with this story? You posted twice after Mahaloth’s vote but before Enderw24’s. Why not unvote me earlier and vote Mahaloth? You could have then explained that you had tried to stir up a discussion by going after me but that you were now more sure about **Mahaloth’**s scumminess. You could at that point have tried to convince me and Enderw24 - and in case that would have failed, you might then still have been able to force a tie to avoid a miss-lynch.

Secondly, there’s your discussion of Ender’s vote. When you do bring out your arguments against Mahaloth, you suggest Enderw24 shares your views and you use his vote for me as evidence, but it’s not clear why Enderw24 would not have told us that himself. Conveniently enough, we never hear back from **Enderw24 **and now he’s dead. Knowing that you were going to kill him, did you hide behind him for a few hours while he was still alive? Did you take the risk that he might come out and contest your interpretation, in hopes that in the morning when he’d be dead by your hand, your case against Mahaloth would seem supported by a known townie?

Lastly, your post reads a lot like you’re trying to cuddle up to me and gain me for your cause by being nice, involving me, protecting me: “We should spend the rest of the day watching for Mahaloth to change his vote, and then change *our *vote accordingly so *you *don’t get lynched”. To me, it reads more like scum deciding to switch tack than it reads like town being provocative to get things going or like town genuinely changing his mind.

In addition, **Mosier **still has not actually replied to my points from YesterDay, which I still find pretty damning. I know - you don’t want to be too defensive, you want to be hunting scum lest you look like scum - but that does not mean you can totally ignore a bunch of points made against you.

**I’ll leave it up to the discretion of the **fubbleskag to handle this in any way he sees fit, but if EoD is really 48 hours after it began, that would put it at 1:37 AM for me, what with me being in Europe and all. Although I’m excited about the game, I’m not staying up that late on a week night!

I’m at work now posting from my phone, so I have to be brief.

Svejk, you’re making a mistake, unless you’re scum. I don’t think you are, so I can only hope you change your mind before tomorrow.

The only way Mahaloth could have won yesterday was if he had tried to change his vote at the last minute. Whoever he changed his vote to wouldn’t matter; he could have even voted for himself and won, because you’d be lynched. That’s the same reason I couldn’t change my own vote; if nobody else stacked up against him with me, I would have been lynched and Mahaloth would have won.

If I was scum, I would have killed you last night. Instead, Mahaloth killed ender, because he knows both he and I were on to him. He didn’t kill me, because he figured you would continue your vote from yesterday.

I hope you re-read the thread and reconsider your vote. If there’s any particular piece of evidence against me that you think is particularly damning, let me know and I’ll address it.

I will reread the thread tonight and I will have another good look at everything. But the ball is really in Mahaloth’s court, I think - I’d really like it if Mahaloth came forward and chimed in, and it certainly is scummy to me that he’s not doing more to defend himself or explain his situation. It’s not that I don’t see how his behavior is scummy, and right now my vote for Mosier is perhaps more of a 60/40 thing than a 100% percent sure ironclad lock.

[bolding mine]I realize that unvoting me at the time could have presented a risk if you had not managed to convince anyone, but that risk existed anyway - Enderw24 might not have been convinced by your case against me, and in that case, too, you would have been miss-lynched, and in that case it would not have mattered whether your vote was against me or against Mahaloth. It’s not your vote against me that kept you alive, but Ender’s. And if Enderw24 had still voted for me in spite of your vote change, that would have created a 2-1-1 situation which you could have lifted by re-voting me. Perhaps not the most elegant of scenarios, but at least you would have come forward with your argument and tried to convince people when it was still possible and when at least Enderw24 was still making up his mind about you v me. All in all, I just have trouble understanding how apparently both of the votes that were cast against me yesterday were motivated at least in part by an understanding that not I, but Mahaloth was the scum, and that none of this got discussed until the very last moment.
