Good news is that my daughter tested negative for COVID. So, we’re thrilled about that! So, she must have a sinus infection/chest cold/etc. She’s miserable. Her fever comes, and goes. She’s getting ready for work as we speak. Good grief.
I was hoping that we’d get some storms, tonight. It’s not going to happen. The only rain out there, is WAY to the north. Crap.
Howdy Y’all! As I said it would be, today has been a day of sloth with extra sloth sauce, a side of sloth, and a large helping of sloth for dessert. The biggest effort I made today was to go out on the back porch to read the paper. That involved openin’ and closin’ a door twice so I debated even doin’ that before I did so.
gotti hope everything is OK with your mom.
Bumba hope it’s only a sore throat.
nona glad the daughter tested negative.
flyboy they asked me, but I was too busy with sloth, so I declined.
Italian food tonight. We started off with cocktails. Mrs. L.A. had something called a Paper Airplane, and I had something with JB & turmeric. The antipasti were good, but $23 was a bit dear for what we got. Better to stock up at Trader Joe’s. Mrs. L.A. had lasagna, which needed more ricotta. The sauce was very good, though. I had some sort of pork tenderloin with a little sauce on top (Braciola). We split a bottle of chianti. Expensive date night, but nice to get out.
Good evening all. Nappage and puzzle-solving occupied most of the afternoon and I did get out of the house for a little drive-around this evening. Temperature is down to 76F and the rain seems to have passed us by.
I now have 93 6-year old boys signed up for soccer this fall (I’m organizing their division). Need one more volunteer coach (anybody interested?? {grinning}), looks like we’ll have 14 teams. Registration closes tomorrow and I’ll download all the information on Sunday and start building teams. Games are supposed to start on 21 August, once they are going things get a lot quieter.
nona, Yeah! for the test being negative. Mine is tomorrow at 10:15am, hopefully I’ll get the same result.
nellie, I image the IRS will eventually admit to their mistake. Or at least stop annoying you. Keep all the paperwork handy, though.
gotti, best wishes to Mother.
flyboy, what what about those poor homeless termites??
Nettie, “Threads” is a fine movie, but I bet you’re depressed for at least a day. And hope the breathing gets easier.
OK, need to make one more check to see if any new kids have signed up. Then time to consider bed. All y’all take care.
wow i copuld go to that menu for a month nd I don’t normally like most of the veg in in , and that whiskey list would take a week or two to go through alone …
nellie, please don’t be alarmed and think this will happen to you but the IRS thought we owed them money, we were able to talk to someone and during the process of trying to get things sorted out, the IRS seized 10 grand out of our bank account. This probably won’t happen to you, but you might think about pulling as much of your savings out of your bank as possible for a while.
I have a clover patch in the back yard, and hubs feels that it needs to be mowed every so often. It’s probably for the best, I’m a huge fan of dead-heading plants to get more flowers, but its always sad to see the poor hungry butterflies searching for their food. He mowed on Monday.
Happily, clover comes back quickly and today I was able to watch a yard full of butterflies again.
George is teething. He is chewing everything he can get his mouth on. I’ve never seen a cat chew on chair legs before. Poor lil guy, his mouth must be so itchy. I bought him some dried turkey tendons and he likes chewing on them, so hopefully our chairs will survive his kittenhood.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 91 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I have no idea what the day holds other than possibly goin’ out somewhere for N.O.L. Perhaps some quality cee-mint pond time shall be had. This is a no cook weekend so any need to feed will be via go out, take out, or forage.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Thank you for all the good wishes! I’m SO happy daughter came back negative. She talked to her boss, and stayed home from work last night. She was able to rest a bit more, so, today, she’s all snotty, coughing, achy, and foul…Not as foul as she has been, though. LOL I’m taking that as an improvement!
I made 8 half loaves of banana bread, this morning, along with one in a 6" cast iron skillet. I did up the dishes that I dirtied up. I peeled the silverskin off the two racks of ribs, mixed up some rub, and put it on them. They’re resting in the fridge until tomorrow. I’m about to go pick up my hubs from the lot where he parks his truck, and drag him home. We have to go drop off his guitar at the shop, first. He’ll come home, get a nap, and then go pick it up later on this afternoon, sometime. I need to go with him, so I can stop at Gordons (GFS), to get another bottle of granulated garlic. I sure don’t want to run out of it, that’s for sure!
Dinner for today will be Sub sammiches, and chips. I’m easy. Ok. Lazy is more the word for what I am. LOL
Dinner for tomorrow will be ribs, baked beans, and corn on the cob.
Morning all. Up early again (I have to cut back on the afternoon naps), waiting for 10:15am and my COVID test appointment. Nothing much else on the schedule, supposed to quarantine after the test, so…
80F and a small chance of rain, so it’s a shame to be cooped up but I’d rather be able to tell the parents ‘I’m clear’ as the season starts.
doggio, saw a coach tossed out of a game last spring…while coaching 9 year old girls… some folks take things a little too seriously…
OK, probably should eat a little bit before my nose job… All y’all take care.
OK, you can all relax. I’m here! Call off the search parties!!!
FCD decided to go into the office this morning so we drove in separate cars to get breakfast. Then he went to work and I went to WalMart for a few items. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a long-handled shoe horn, which was the main reason I went there. So it was a quick and fruitful stop.
Then I came home and loaded the trash and recycling into the truck. Naturally, it started raining just as I was leaving, but it’s just water, right? It was a tad crowded at the center, but our garbage and recycling is gone - huzzah! The last two items on my must-do list are cleaning the critter fountain and flushing a packet of septic tank treatment since it’s the 7th and that’s when I do that.
Yeppers! I was going to copy and paste some of the names, but it’s a .pdf and I don’t have the software to convert it, dammit. But yeah…
nona - yay for the negative test, boo for her going into work anyway! I know people can’t afford to take unpaid sick days, and that sucketh mightily!
And now, off to finish surfing before tackling the icky fountain.
Morning afternoon, all (yikes, it’s after 12pm already)!
So far today I have cleaned up after the dog (who had GI trouble in the middle of the night; every night I put waterproof, washable pads down in the living room, but there was still some unpleasant cleanup), put my laundry in both the washer and dryer, put the aforementioned pads into the washer (with some OxiClean), gathered the household trash and put it in the big can out back, and done a bunch of research on what’s required to qualify for the certification I’m hoping to pursue this fall. A company-sponsored study class + exam fee coverage starts on 9/9, and I need to submit an application to the certification organization and get their approval before then.
The latter was a little overwhelming. It’s going to take time to document my experience the way they want it, plus I don’t believe that I have any of the 35 “related instruction” hours. There are plenty of online courses I can take that will get me there, I just don’t know if I’ll have 35 extra hours in the next 2-3 weeks! My company will offer this course (+ the exam fee) again in February: I don’t want to put it off until then, but I might have to. I won’t make that decision for at least another week, though; for now, I’ll keep working on documenting my quals.
Totally randomly, I must thank FairyChatMom (again) for mentioning her pseudo-quesadillas a couple of threads ago! I make those a lot now, usually for lunch while I’m working. Today I’m going to have tomato soup and rice for lunch, but I think dinner will be a couple of tortilla wraps with jalapeño cheddar.
I’ll soak my poor nail-less toe before I make lunch, but otherwise I am done adulting for the time being. I’m so glad I have no plans today/tonight. And I’m glad that I decided to skip this morning’s committee meeting: I really needed a “free” day (and I’d still be in that meeting right now).
Have a great Saturday, everyone…I’m sure I’ll pop in again later, since my plans for the rest of the day involve a lot of sitting on the couch with my iPad in front of me!
No rain here–flyboy’s apparently hogging it all --but it’s blessedly cool and cloudy. It’ll be in the 90’s in a couple days, forecast says, so I’m going to absorb as much of this as possible.
Last night I realized bumba’s social security # theft possibility doesn’t pan out because there’s a line item on the notice about social security, and it’s accurate. That leaves my pension, and it’s on the return, plus fed taxes are taken out before I get it. I have no idea where the glitch is.
Ugh. Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll ask the CPA on Tuesday. Doesn’t the IRS have to notify you if they’re going to seize an account? I’m not sure where I’d put my savings: won’t fit in a sugar bowl, and I’m pretty sure the IRS can follow bank-to-bank transfers. I hope you got the seized money back.
nona, yay on no covid! Still sounds like a miserable, messy business for your kiddo. Hope she makes a rapid recovery.
MetalMouse, hope the COVID test is negative and not too uncomfortable.
