Stocking up on MMPs

Just finished book 13 and once again, Anna Pigeon cheated death!

It’s been raining steadily for at least 4 hours, maybe longer. It’s a nice, easy rain, exactly the kind that does a garden good. So yay.

I’ve done my chores and FCD is still at work. What to do, what to do. Maybe tread the mill and watch something on TV?

We didn’t know it was going to happen until it happened. I think they can’t touch your retirement accounts, but don’t count on me for info. We did get the money back after a long, drawn out battle.

I looked in George’s mouth today and he’s missing all of the back teeth on one side and most of them on the other side. No wonder he’s such a messy eater! Mom noticed that VBC hasn’t been dragging hand towels around and commented on it where VBC could hear. Last night all of the available hand towels were in a pile in the living room. I sure hope George isn’t getting ideas from her, he’ll be big enough to drag the bath towels around.

Temps have dropped a little, its only 90f here and almost noon. Part of that is the haze form the smoke, but maybe we might get rain.

MetalMouse hubs said his COVID tests were not bad at all. Fingers crossed that yours is negative.

Afternoon all. Did my COVID test. Had to go to the WalGreen’s drive-up prescription window, they looked through the glass at my documents and then sent a long-handled swab out that I was told to put “up as near to the bridge of your nose” and move it around for 15 seconds…for each nostril. 30 unpleasant seconds later I but the swab back in the container and departed. About 2 hours later I got a call…they couldn’t analyze my sample, could I come back and give them another? Soooo, back I went (it’s only a 5-minute drive away) and poked it in there really good (brought tears to my eyes). Just got the message that the test was NEGATIVE, so I am still COVID-free. Good to know with all the soccer activity due to ramp up here shortly.

Rain fell this morning but has cleared up now so will probably go down and help out on the coaches training (mostly taking attendance). At least it will keep me awake during the afternoon.

nona, glad the test was negative.

Oopsie, good luck with the training. I’m trying to get all my coaches to do 3-4 hours of on-line training to get them ready for coaching 6-year olds, and it’s been like pulling teeth. Hope something else you’ve already taken can substitute for some of those hours.

OK, need to do some house stuff. All y’all take care.

The rain we were promised for this weekend doesn’t seem to be happening.

My doc said I should get tested in 7 to 10 days. But Wifey was talking to somebody at her docs office and signed me up for a test tomorrow. So we’re just hanging around not going anywhere. I felt pretty crappy yesterday, but I feel better this morning. Throat’s still a little bit sore, and my BP was 140/80, a little high for me, but that’s all. My temp was 97.0 f this morning. Pretty normal for me. If I still feel okay on Monday or Toosday I might load up my little car with some tools and bits and bobs, and Vinnie, and take the 2 of us over to the little house for a few days and do a couple of things over there. We don’t feel like we’re getting anything done right now.

Oh well.

FCD is home. It’s still raining. He doesn’t want me to make supper - we’ll forage for whatever.

I’ve been crocheting and watching a Netflix documentary on Monty Python, so an educational afternoon.

The woodshed is a step closer. Using a pickaxe, two axes, two shovels, and a rake, I dug out channels for the eight-foot and four-foot pressure treated 2x6s. There were some big-ass roots I had to chop through. My frame is level(-ish) and square. I put some garden fabric, to discourage weeds from growing, inside. I called ‘our guy’, and he said he might be able to bring over a half a yard or so of compactable gravel tomorrow morning. Then I’ll have a foundation.

It took me three hours to do the work, and I definitely had my cardio today. I might build the frame for the shed floor mañana. Right now, I’m tired and sore.

Brats for dinner tonight.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!! I am so ready to not be church janitor Junior Warden anymore! Been over to the church house for the past couple of hours. There are leaks (four to be exact) in the Nave of the church. The leaks appear to be from a/c vents, so maybe it’s condensation. Then again, I know next to nuttin’ about this stuff. Anywho, there are buckets where the leaks are and I’ve roped off the pews where the leaks are. Interestin’ly, the leaks are all on one side, So I will hear the question “Why are there buckets in some of the pews?” a lot tomorrow. I am tempted to answer, “just to annoy you,” but I won’t. Then I’ll hear “When will it get fixed?” to which I shall be tempted to answer, “well, we took a vote and decided that you need to climb up in the attic and find the problem,” but I won’t. Have I mentioned that I am soooooo ready not to be church janitor Junior Warden anymore?

MetalMouse glad the test came back negative and sorry you had to have two nose jobs. ICK!

I need medicinal ice cream and Netflix.

The ibuprofen seems to be helping. Or maybe it’s the ginnintonics.

This has my vote. :tropical_drink:

I walked downtown to the street festival, where I heard some great music, then walked to the used furniture store, then walked to and around the lake. It was very humid, but there was a refreshing breeze and big, puffy clouds. Then I sat on my balcony and watched the trees sway in the wind.

flyboy, another vote for the analgesic effects of alcohol. Good on you for getting so much done.

swampy, I think you should put up a sign on the pews with buckets: “For those who need to put out hellfire.” When are you done janitorin’?

I meant to reply to this earlier:

I checked. Found one, but like most of the others, he works with businesses only. Small potatoes like me don’t yield enough profit, I guess.

sunny, if you’ve mastered a good Brandy Alexander, you’re golden. That’s an under-appreciated cocktail.

Embrace the power of the snark side, swampy! What are they going to do, fire you?

Flyboy, I hear you. My current ennui medication is a surprisingly drinkable Armenian brandy. Makes me feel all suave and debonair as I swirl it in the snifter whilst watching “Jeopardy!”

I think I’m going to have a tangerine IPA in a bit. I feel like something more tropical to drink, but my bartending skills are weak in that area.

The kids are down the street at my parents, hanging out with their cousins. My hubby is napping. I am cuddling with my son’s dog. It’s nice and quiet for once.

I did keep up with all of the posts this afternoon…I just haven’t had much to say.

Except for putting my laundry away, I’ve managed to continue to avoid adulting. I’m about to change the bedsheets, though: the dog — who, you might recall, had some GI issues last night — threw up on the bed a little while ago. In almost 13 years she hasn’t ever peed on the bed, but every now and then she throws up on it, so several years ago I started keeping a quilted, waterproof mattress pad on the bed at all times. And there is always a “spare” in the house: they’re washable, but frankly I’d rather just replace them as needed. As soon as I use the spare, I order another one (Amazon will be hearing from me tomorrow).

Off to change the sheets, and start one last load of laundry today…goodnight, everyone!

:smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

I want to embroider this on a satin pillow!!

When Taz was peeing on our bed far too frequently (he has since stopped) and we had just replaced our mattress (for age, mostly) we bought a waterproof mattress cover that seemed to breathe, so it wasn’t like sleeping on a plastic sheet. It has served us well, including when either of us had a really sweaty night. (TMI, I know…) When we would be gone on vacation and just had someone come in to check on the cats, etc, we’d put either a large vinyl tablecloth or a hunk of plastic sheeting across our bed. Because when Taz got pissed off at us, well, you know… Anyway, one does what one must to save one’s mattress, no?

Silly me - I thought when FCD took a regular job, he’d take weekends off again. Heh. Yesterday, he spent at least 6 hours at the office, and he just left a few minutes ago to go there again. On the plus side, they’ll allow him to bank these extra hours, which will come in handy when he has his knees done. but I wish he’d take some time off.

As for me, no clue what today will hold. I need to touch base with my daughter - we’re supposed to take Roxy to the Baltimore Zoo tomorrow, since SIL doesn’t want to go. We’re going to try to get there when they open, and I’m going to pack a picnic lunch. This will be our last chance on a week day before school starts.

Daughter starts back on the 17th and her studii will return on the 24th. This year, she’s teaching Alg I, Alg II, Earth Science, and 8th grade Writing and composition. Last I heard, there are 40 kids in all of grades 6-12. They lost (fired?) a teacher but with such a small student population, they didn’t replace her - they just redistributed the teaching duties - and my daughter got the Algebra that the former teacher had(n’t) been teaching.

Roxy starts on Sep 1 - she’s really excited. And she’s just about potty trained - huzzah huzzah, and about time!!! That’s one stubborn child!

Anyway, onward! Happy Sunday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization where I fly solo as Verger and we have a guest Priest (who was actually the Priest at the church before he retired), as EYP is on vacation in Iceland. This is all provided the ceilin’ has not caved in overnight, of course. N.O,L. shall be some form of takeout TBD. Sloth shall ensue afterward.

Quietly the temptation to embrace the snark is strong but I have a feelin’ that is not what Jesus would do, so I won’t.

Nellie we have Holy Water in the Baptismal Font to take care of hellfire. Heh. When YP was amongst us he was goin’ to do Asperges and I offered to fall out in the aisle and scream “IT BURNS! IT BURNS!” I am done janitorin’ when we have the election of new Vestry members at our annual meetin’ in January. I am ready for that to happen just as soon as the clock strikes midnight.

flyboy ginnintonic is medicinal as it will keep malaria at bay.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Morning all. Got up at 5:30am. Grumpy. Going back to bed. That is all.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Yesterday it monsooned, and there was a flood advisory. This morning there is a dense fog advisory. Sounds like Gordie is stirring.

WWJD?
Snark for the Pharisees, fish frys and booze for everybody else.

Plans for tomorrow are set. We have tickets for when the zoo opens. I’m going to make sammiches and I got some grapes and chips to make lunch healthy and crunchy. I have a rinsed-out coke bottle with water in the freezer - it’ll keep lunch cold plus provide hydration. Forecast is for very warm and sunny. We’ll get there early, then we can leave early to beat rush-hour traffic and the miss the hottest part of the afternoon.

So it’s time to assume the recline position and see who tries to kill Anna Pigeon as she returns to Lake Superior…

Happy Sunday!

Pretty morning at the park. There were seven of us and nine dogs. A bit of chaos at times, but all the dogs were down and done by the time we left. Even the puppies.
I got slammed into hard. Good thing I was sitting down or I would have been on my ass. It still hurt like hell; they made my knee bend at an angle it’s not meant to go.
Panini got too close to me today and Echo started to go after her, but everybody yelled and she stopped. Yet when Panini’s sister Bread sits in my lap with her paws around my neck giving me kisses, Echo is fine.

Good luck with the IRS Nellie. It probably is just an error on their part, but you probably should pull your money out of your accounts for a bit. Years ago, the IRS took money out of my manager’s account and all of our paychecks bounced. I was pissed at them because it was his business/payroll account and why should we have to lose out for him. The manager got the money together to pay us within the week, it wasn’t a problem for me at the time but it hurt a lot of my co-irkers who lived paycheck to paycheck.
But the IRS doesn’t care who they hurt as long as they get theirs.
Hopefully, it won’t be because an illegal got your info. I know somebody that happened to and it took 3-4 years to get it straightened out. Even though any fool could see that there was simply no way they could be irking two full time jobs at opposite ends of the country at the same time. Unless they irked at 8-hour day, got on a plane to the opposite coast, irked 8 hours there, then got on a plane to come back. Physically impossible to do.
But I’ve never known any government agency to let logic get in the way.

I always though all the vowels left Poland and moved to Hawaii.
The weather is better.

I sent my bank statements to the mortgage company for the 4th time, with a long letter explaining why I don’t have a business account and why I don’t have profit/loss statements. You would think they would understand the difference between being an independent contractor and owning a business. I hope my explanation helped.
I did my best to eliminate the snark.

AT&T asked me to rate my experience with them. I did not eliminate the snark.
I’m afraid I’m going to have to call them again today.

I’m holding off on rating the appraiser until after the closing.
