Stream Dreams Blow up pigs and Turksploitation, a tale of Amsterdam

Dude, I live in Heidelberg, Germany it’s only about 500K away.

And once I kissed a Dutch guy, but it wasn’t Coldy (although I have platonically smooched the Clogster) even though he was in the same city at the same time. Anyhoo, I keep expecting to run into this guy; you’re not him are you?

Oh, and I keep bumping up this thread because:

  1. I am really friggen bored what with being practically under house arrest and all.

  2. I want somebody to tell me all about Sunday

  3. I wuv Poofy! Hi Poofy!

Apols, I didn’t know that.
But I doubt I was the one you were kissing with, I’m not the girl kissing kinda guy… However, I do know that some of my friends have, and one of those even had a longer lasting relationship with one of them (well, longer in the sense that it was at least two kisses and a visit to Hamburg). So if you can describe this guy you have been kissing with, I might be able to help you out.

And no probs about bumping this thread. I love to chat with you. You sound like a fun person. (And I don’t have that much to do at work today). I’m sorry I can’t help you out with what happened on Sunday, but I’m sure that Coldfire will log in not too long from now (having sent off all the other dopers on the plane by now).

Good thing you told me that, Aghris because one of my hobbies is setting people up. Bwahahahaha.

And before you say anything, I have two sucess stories already (we won’t discuss the ones that failed miserably).

Dutch guy, hmmmmm. He looked like the singer for A-ha and his name was Ate (sp?). We met in Maastricht. For some reason him and his school mates (they were architecture students I think) were traveling around with this older Welsch guy. I never figured that one out. Anyhoo, we smooched quite a bit and I was invited up to his room to see how y’all do it below sea level, but I chickened out. This despite my drunken phone call to my ex-boyfriend that I was going to “fuck me a Dutchman” that night.

Oh, that was also the weekend that the taternavel was declared the best in the world. Big moment in history, that was.

Ooooh, instead of a run of the mill Doperfest, let’s go on a quest to find Ate! We could also see if we could find Albertina, who was from A’dam and also my nurse at a hospital in LA. Maybe she went back to A’dam.

Now where are those slackers with my stories???

Errr… I had rather bad experiences with being set up, so I think I’ll pass on that one if that’s OK. Absolute failures not withstanding, you’ll have to come up with one heck of a great guy before I’ll even consider it

I don’t think I know anyone who is called Ate (mispronounciation taken into account) but I do know an architecture student who I wouldn’t put above masking his own name to get laid. He’s blond however, and does not resemble anyone I know from A-ha. So no, I don’t think I can help you out in that area. Again, if you wait for Coldie, he might be able to help you out. He’s from the same region of Holland (that is, from below the rivers which to people from above the rivers is one and the same anyway).

And… taternavel, best…??

Sunday - the unwitty, brief version, since the witty slackers aren’t online yet :stuck_out_tongue:

& a quick update for tater - on Friday…virtually the first question I asked Coldy at casa coldy (other than location of tea & coffee) was “where’s poofy?”…which is why we have some wonderful photos of Shayna & some brilliant quotes (which I shall selfishly keep to myself!). Also, I have the blackmail photos & you’ll have to wait till I get the film developed & can scan them in…kferr was the only one there with a digital camera, so talk nicely to him! (if his plane was held up as much as mine, he should be online shortly - if only to see what the casa coldy mob said about us poor dopers with no internet access…).

So, back to sunday…we somehow managed to get up & meet up with Diane & family & make it to the tramstop only about half an hour late. We had breakfast at…[sub]MacDonalds[/sub], which was cold & slow, but apparently some of the Americans amongst us are thinking of introducing that idea back home

Then we went round the Anne Frank house and museum, Sassy joined us again & we found somwhere warm (a tapas bar…the lads were very disappointed when they discovered it wasn’t the same as a topless bar), where we had coffee (yes, just coffee) & food.

We suddenly realised it was nearly 5pm, so made a mad dash for the Van Gogh museum, which shuts at 6pm…

Diane, Craig & Alex disappeared back to the hotel to stop the rest of her family from selling themselves or her into slavery, we all had a moment’s silence for Lynn Bodoni outside the Godiva chocolate shop (unfortunately closed by that point :() and then spent most of the evening in yet another Irish pub…I’m not convinced that there’s anyone left in Ireland, I think they’re all running pubs in Amsterdam!

Diane & Criag rejoined us & we eventually remembered to eat at about midnight, so we ended up in a jewish pizza place, which served something of everything. Then we went for a brisk stroll round the red light district (it had to be brisk, it was freezing cold!), and afterwards, discovered all the pubs were shut so we went back to our various hotels or coldy’s place.

Monday - mad packing, queues at airports (& I got upgraded to business :)), people not gossiping on the boards about the most gossipable stuff, and hugging people goodbye.

Thanks again to Coldy who may post again in about a week, when he’s recovered from our visit!

BTW - I lied about this being the brief version!

Echoing with earnest conviction around the Red Light District at 2.00am this morning (unnamed Moderator to unnamed Irishman) : “You’re not wanking on my couch, mate”

Thanks for everything, Coldie, it was a blinder of a weekend and a truly outstanding Paddy’s Day. More later…

Dirt, what dirt

Oh, kferr:smiley:

Listen, I need to see that picture, just to make sure this wasn’t a crazy dream I had Saturday night. You don’t know what joy this would bring into my otherwise bleak and boring life. Plus, I did invite you to my birthday party, didn’t I?

I’m so glad y’all had fun! Can’t wait to see the pics & read the quotes.

My belly-button is the finest in the world according to a bar full of drunk Dutch & American students, and if they aren’t the final authority on belly buttons I don’t know who is. I think I showed it to everyone in Maastricht…now that was a night.

After similar delays (but no upgrades) to Fierra’s, I made it home. The evidence has been uploaded and is ready to ship, but the website for my email is currently running so slow, that it would be faster for me to call you and read out the string of 1’s and 0’s. Tater, send me an email address to use, and when normal service is restored I’ll let split the photos of Phwooar!

DETAILS! WE WANT DETAILS! (Well, I do, at any rate.)

All my email accounts are being most uncooperative tonite, so it looks like it will be tomorrow before the photos go out.

And I forgot to say it before, so three cheers for Coldfire! for being a most excellent host, tour guide, taxi service, and translator! Thanks for everything mate, it was a fantastic weekend.

I second that. Coldy, you were great.

I notice y’all waited till I was gone home to sample the delights of the red light district.

tater, your secret’s safe with me. And I am awaiting e-mail!

As for my Saturday night, for those who asked:
Stepped out of Durty Nelly’s and into the Twilight Zone,
met Rashida, went to Teaser’s, went to scary club on the Leidseplein, possibly drugged, robbed, got in a fight and successfully recovered my bag (with 1000 guilders worth of jewellery in it), was rescued by police and got a lift. That’s as far as I can make any sense of it all.

So, guys, that’s what Amsterdam is like without Coldfire looking after you. You should all be very grateful.

[sub]“Is that a bus canal tour?” - my moment of blondeness in Amsterdam[/sub]

How the hell did that happen?

I seem to recall we had a canal tour, too, but I’m a bit sketchy on the details. I remember getting on the boat. I remember looking out the window. I remember turning my face the other direction, but after that it’s all a bit fuzzy. Would someone mind filling me in on what we were supposed to have seen?

I just want to thank everyone for making this such a spectacular weekend. I did not want it to end. Clogboy, you are the host with the most and I will be forever grateful for everything you did for us this weekend to make our stay in your fine city so incredibly fun.

What a phenominally awesome group of people you all are! I miss you guys already!

And now I must go to sleep. There are sweet dreams to be had.

Jeez! I’m sorry that happened to you hibernicus. I guess it is unsafe in any major city, but these things should not happen. I’m glad that everything turned out OK though. How did the girlfriend like the necklace?

…desperately trying not to comment on the post immediately above…

Morning Trash!

Not sure about the rest of you but, for me, yesterday seemed to develop into a big day for sleep. Funny that. Anyway, today I’m going to try to put the basic framework together for any photo’s of the Fest that maybe forthcoming. If I recall correctly, fierra might be able to scan an image or two of Amsterdam - which would be very helpful - and kferr will, hopefully, be able to let me have his incriminating evidence…….sorry, I mean photo’s.

Other than that, I’m not sure what else we have – Team Diane is on the road (and presumably lost), Sassy won’t be home until near the weekend and I don’t think (actually, I don’t know) if fierra’s shots are digital. I also can’t remember who else took photo’s ??

I suppose what I’m saying is: If you have anything you want included could you do one of two things: Either

Let me have whatever it is, or
Let me know something is going to be forthcoming.

We may not have a lot to show for the weekend so anything you have would be very helpful.

Cheers.

Falcon – Well, dear. It would seem you know how a DopeFest works better than most! - if you ain’t there, you just gotta scrape around for err…snatches of information. My lips are sealed – unlike….oops!!

Hibernicus – Jesus! What on earth happened there ? Drugged, fighting, a strange woman, carted off by the police. I guess if you weren’t in an unfamiliar town and carrying that expensive jewellery it would have been an excellent Saturday night but, bloody hell, I’m just relieved you got out of there in one piece.

Aghris just squeaked in there (morning Aghris!). I was referring, of course, to the post by the wonderful redhead from across the pond. Glad you got home safely, Shayna!

I got a picture in the mail this morning. Oooh la la!

Hibby, I sent you an email, silly. True, it was a group email, but sadly I don’t have anything original to tell you. I will make it a point to do something interesting today so that I can write you. Glad you made it out of A’dam alive!

Enough of me falling over already!!!
It was st. Patricks day, and I was quite drunk. Dudes, If I didnt fall over at some point, It wouldnt be Paddy’s day.
Anyway, the question is…
Who is the Man in Black???
Shayna, do you know? do you?? I bet you do…

heh heh heh… the scandal starts here…

Holy crap hibernicus that sounds like fun

Good to hear y’all had a ball. You sounded like you were certainly having the craic when you rang me on Sat. (even if the phone did die halfway through the call :frowning: )

Next time I WILL BE THERE ( crosses fingers, touches wood etc. )

L_C -

True enough. But I also know that most people have something they can be bribed with to spill! So what’s yours, hmmm?

Also as an FYI - Dave isn’t home yet. He called me last night from Detroit, where Northwest had managed to screw his flight up. (Why does this not surprise me?) Hopefully he’ll be posting here sometime today.

I really don’t recall seeing any scandalous behaviour at all ? Except, that is, for drunken Irishmen in the gutter, drunken Brits trying to climb under tables, drunken Brits trying to do their shoelaces, inflatable pigs in plain view and us watching an Italian infomercial for exercise equipment at 3 a.m.

But that’s more or less it ? - I suppose my mind was on other matters when said scandals occurred. Yes, that would explain it.

One mean weekend, that’s a fact. Thanks, everyone! A special thank to Coldie for putting up with us (and for turning down the sound when watching Formula 1 at 8 in the morning…) - I owe you a round or two, mate.

Post-Amsterdam, I can only report that motorcycle riding in the snow is an experience worth forgoing. Although it’s kinda fun to see the ice plating crackle off your leathers when you attempt to get off the bike, building up 1/3rd an inch of frozen snow on your shoulders is rather extremely refreshening.
