Stupid Republican idea of the day

Cheney calls Obama “the worst president we’ve ever had” on foreign policy. Yes, on foreign policy. Because of the Iran deal.

Say what you will, there’s some might big balls to go with that Dick.

He’s The Most Interesting ex-VP In The World.
“When i shoot a man in the face, he apologizes to me.”

Not a recent article, and I don’t link it because of the content, just to share a little giggle at the image:

Rand Paul as Ruprecht.

For those of us (like me) who have, alas, never heard of Ruprecht, and were hopelessly lost:

Sorry, Ruprecht is a character played by Steve Martin in “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.”

Isn’t it lovely to think so?

Ah.

I saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels some time ago, and there’s no way I would have recalled the character (actually, the character’s alias) name.

I searched on the name until I came up with one that appeared, on the basis of the eyepatch, to match (and it appears that the eyepatch is your only reason for posting this photo). That brings up an interesting point – the Steve Martin character’s alias must have been chosen because the eyepatch made him resemble the traditional character. I don’;t recall a reference to this in the film, so I suspect the significance was lost on Americans like me.

To further explain the reference for those who may not have seen the movie, Ruprecht is a grown man who has developmental problems so severe that he cannot be trusted to use an ordinary fork without sticking it in his eye. Which is sort of like the risk run by Rand Paul when using words and ideas.

Perhaps even more to the point, he’s a grown man who is pretending to have severe developmental problems as part of a scam. Which would arguably explain a lot of behavior from the Republican party these days.

This is a bit of a tangent for this thread, but what the hell:

In light of the recent tragic shooting in South Carolina, I’m very curious to see how Fox News spins it to make it more palatable for their viewers, since their usual “blame the victim” is pretty much off the table.

My guess is that they’ll go to their favorite boogeymen: Obama & Holder & Sharpton, and accuse them of “race baiting” the minute they venture an opinion.

I’ll just wait a day or so for John Stewart to tell me, so I don’t have to watch myself.

The standard tactic is to simply not mention it.

Well, maybe, maybe not.

“… he’s playing his supporters like the nearsighted suckers they are …”

heh

No balls, no dick. Cheney is ALL asshole.

“I didn’t see a black man killed by a white cop.”

OK so now Fox News is taking cues from Stephen Colbert, WTF ?

Fox News is unable to see patterns (or race) unless they are part of “patterns” that (can be manipulated into seeming that) BHO is a racist Muslim atheist gay terrorist.

It is circularly fitting; Colbert’s whole shtick was a parody of Bill-O in the first place, wasn’t it?

In that Wikipedia photo Knecht Ruprecht is the man on the left in the brown robe, not the child with the eyepatch. Other pictures do not show Knecht Ruprecht as wearing an eyepatch.

Yeah, but at a quick flip-through I only noticed the eyepatch*, and saw that as confirmation.
*especially when you consider that this is the feature the Rand and Martin pix have in common.
