Free publicity.
Texas Governor Abbot. He’s quite mad, you know.
Did he say that with the tip of his little finger next to his mouth? “One. Billion. Dollars.”
Publicity?! Donald Trump lacks publicity?!
He has to share it with his hairpiece, so he needs extra.
It was from Jezebel’s article on the Trump announcement.
The craziest part of this story, believe it or not, hasn’t been mentioned yet: Texas doesn’t have any gold deposited with the Fed.
So Texas prefers dumb people spend their money locally. I guess the state lottery wasn’t cutting it.
He will make a few convention speeches, attend a debate, and then drop out long before the first vote is cast. If he ever shakes a hand with a New Hampshire voter I’ll eat my hat.
Maybe you mean business conventions, because he certainly won’t be giving any speeches at the Republican National Convention as he’ll be out of the race long before then.
I think hat - eating may be a safe bet to go with on the “showing up at a debate” line too.
I think his ego may make him show up for one debate, especially since he polls higher than some of the other clowns.
Yes; I realized that might be unclear. He’ll bloviate before groups of like-minded people for a while, but it’s unlikely he’ll even be able to get a ticket to the National Convention.
Yes - but if he never files with the FEC, he wouldn’t be eligible for the debates. That way he can avoid the debates, and claim that he was cut out by the GOP. More publicity for him.
I have a very classy, very beautiful hat that won’t be eating itself if he ever files.
I can’t see him wanting to miss a debate. He could utterly destroy and dominate a debate, just by being a shameless famewhore who would make no attempt to abide by any rules.
No, the actual craziest part of the story is that Texas has been paying HSBC a million dollars a year to store in their vault, when the Fed would be charging them more like $3100 a year. But, I guess, having firm principles means doing the more expensive thing in the first place. :dubious:
Heck, he could go total maverick and express his belief in evolution.
They should have fainting couches behind the lecterns.
Or HSBC or people in it are campaign contributors.
I don’t know wha the penalty is for not properly disclosing your finances, but I’d bet the penalty doesn’t include being banned from Fox-sponsored debates.
Anyway, IMO he would far prefer to blame the government for his woes than the GOP.
I think the debates require that you be “declared.” I don’t know how they define that.
He has something like 120 days (30 days from declaring, and two basically automatic 45-day extensions) to file financial forms.
He claims he’ll make the 30 day window, but if he wanted to play games, nothing would be due until after the first debate (if he makes the cut).
