It was infuriating that not one of the other candidates reminded Bush about 9/11 and how THAT happened on his brother’s watch. And the fact that the audience applauded when Bush said that
What’s infuriating is that, not only is he not getting called on this bullshit, but he’s using the burial ground of his brother’s mistakes as a poster. It took a while of me searching to make sure this wasn’t an ad for his opposition.
I would not be surprised if this is JEB!'s next campaign poster.
If we’re going to be addressing stupidity from the debate, we could be typing all day. But it was probably the brief addressing of climate change that spiked my blood pressure the most.
.
You could write a Master’s thesis on the stupidity in those two sentences, starting with the assumption that we have a left-wing government and continuing straight on to the “wanting to destroy the economy” (which I guess means that they bailed us out of the 2008 mess just to make it more challenging or something). But let’s ignore the red meat and think about the substance, such as it is.
Basically, the three candidates who addressed climate change didn’t deny it – they merely said, effectively, “It’s too hard to fix, so fuck it.” Way to be Presidential, guys. Way to show that can-do American spirit. Nothing about funding alternative energy sources, no lip service to American ingenuity, no “moral equivalent of war”, certainly nothing about conservation. Just “it’s too hard and it will cost jobs”.
Seriously, Christie actually said “We shouldn’t be destroying our economy in order to chase some wild, left-wing idea that somehow, us, by ourselves, are going to fix the climate.” Because it’s not like Christie lives in a coastal state that’s recently been shattered by a historic hurricane. And certainly no one in Rubio’s state has to worry about rising sea levels and the increased possibility of tropical storms.
He’s the … gentleman leading the impeachment proceedings against the chair of the EPA.
That’s the honorable gentleman.
I didn’t know denying climate change made it all the way up to being a religion already. I’d like to start my own Church of the Drowned Coast and get some seed money!
They’re going to post 95 tweets on Al Gore’s Twitter feed. The Batshit Reformation begins now.
And that’s where we see how successful the right-wing network of think tanks, press outlets, and the like is. Call it a *counter-*academia. This guy isn’t being bribed to behave this way; he’s a true believer. They cultivate anti-science beliefs, find the truest believers, run them for state legislatures, find the most diehard anti-environmentalists in that bunch, and put them in Congress.
And we get this.
I don’t know if we can fix this without a shooting war before massive economic collapse; and it may become a shooting war* then*–because, you know, massive economic collapse.
(emphasis mine) How about fuck yoouuuuuu fat man, the entire world is waiting on you jerks and we can’t fix this shit while the first industrial base in the world goes ladeedah and shits its own bed (also, the sky) ! Get with the fucking Kyoto already ! Fuck !
From the link:
“If the Pope stuck to standard Christian theology, I would be the first in line,” Gosar insisted, writing that “if the Pope wants to devote his life to fighting climate change then he can do so in his personal time.”
Pretty easy to mentally substitute “slavery” for “climate change,” and imagine what this guy would have been saying in the 19th-century. Oh wait, Catholics were discriminated against back then, so he wouldn’t have been in Congress.
Also:
“If the Pope spoke out with moral authority against violent Islam, I would be there cheering him on. If the Pope urged the Western nations to rescue persecuted Christians in the Middle East, I would back him wholeheartedly. But when the Pope chooses to act and talk like a leftist politician, then he can expect to be treated like one.”
Seriously, is a Catholic who says he respects the Pope only when he agrees with him, really a Catholic? I realize the Pope isn’t speaking ex cathedra, but it’s not like he’s just popping off about a subject he hasn’t given much thought, either. He’s obviously taking a coherent, well-researched position in consultation with his senior advisors. Isn’t it a fundamental tenet of Catholicism that a layman should defer to the Magisterium of the Church?
[Gosar’s infallibility + (America BFF God)] > Pope’s infallibility.
In the effort to prevent abortion & promote the birth of healthy children, Congress has denied access to safe and effort birth control as well as other reproductive health care, including cancer screening.
The Republicans are fools: they haven’t defunded abortion. That was done a long time ago! No Federal funds go to abortion! They go to Planned Parenthood’s other functions.
These shits have just voted to cut off health care to millions, on the basis of something that doesn’t happen! These guys live in a fantasy world.
And all it took was one crappy video, misleadingly edited by someone with no scruples, just like when ACORN was defunded.
I owe Trump an apology; he’s absolutely right. Our leaders are stupid.
We’re the Republican Party and we hate education.
Wow. Just wow.
-
No. Stupid != opportunistic.
-
No. Stupid != delusional. (The latter is worse.)
Didn’t you know that edumacation is just something liberals made up to make good, hard-working, regular folks feel bad about themselves?
No, the Republiopaths hate education because they want there to be people that will vote for them.
'Sides, everything you need to know is right there in the Bible*.
*My Bible, that is — the only real true Word of God, in English like the Prophets and Apostles used — not those traps of Satan that pretend to be Bibles.
