Stupid Republican idea of the day

This guy is not only batshit crazy, he’s batshit angry.

Ongoing Republican stupid: 86 year-old woman from New Hampshire moves to North Carolina, cannot get voter-ID with 5 pieces of ID. Sadronically, she is a lifelong R, so the anti-voter-fraud efforts on the part of the Rs are ensnaring their own.

So it’s not a perfect system, but it will still accomplish its goal of suppressing far more Dem votes than Rep votes.

Even if they weren’t so stupid and/or crazy in so many other ways, the voter suppression thing would be enough to keep me from ever voting for a Republican.

I agree. The Iranians did not indicate that they were offered anything in exchange. At least, whatever they were offered, they didn’t want.

I don’t think that this is an entirely accurate piece of news.

Oh yeah? Well, what if I told you that the Iranian source was code named “Curveball”?

Oh! Well, that’s entirely different!

This is the usual stuff about Amurka’s “freedom of religion” meaning “whichever Christian denomination you choose,” but I’m posting the link mainly for the picture there. I haven’t been so creeped out in years.

Texas Bar Association is investigating whether to disbar the state’s Attorney General for encouraging county clerks to disobey the Supreme Court’s same sex marriage ruling.

On top of the securities fraud investigation he’s under.

Considering that the Republican definition of “negotiate” is “give us everything we want”, I find it to be at least potentially credible.

That’s a reasonable supposition. Then again, I’m having trouble envisioning a motivation for the Iranians to make this up, and I also can’t come up with a plausible and reasonable message from the Republicans that might have been lost in translation.

Perhaps the Iranians will have an “October” surprise in store for the GOP later this year.

Even hard-line theocrats in Iran recognize that letting any of the current crop of Republican hopefuls into the White House would be a global disaster. The Ayatollah’s all like, “Sure, I’m a fanatical religious zealot, but have you heard the shit coming out of Ted Cruz’s mouth? That guy’s a fucking lunatic!”

“How can we trust the Americans, see how they conned the weak sissy liberals into giving up our nuclear bomb program? You seriously imagine they want peace?! They’re just setting us up so they can do to us what they did to Saddam! You know, sometimes I wonder if our President is secretly not a Muslim!”

Same story - Fars News

BTW, wasn’t there an evil Republican idea of the day thread? This would certainly belong there.

Done by Reagan in 1980 and also Nixon in 1968. In '68 Nixon’s agents hinted at better terms in the Paris negotiations if the North Vietnamese didn’t settle. Turns out we had another six+ years of war to go as a result.

Seems to be a GOP SOP.

Heidi Cruz seems to think God has a face like a shitweasel.

Has anyone other than Fars reported it? While I would believe something like this could happen (koffTom Coffeekoff), I would like a source other than Iran’s “semi-official” news agency.

Sounds like a scandal on par with Benghazi. I’m sure the GOP Congress will investigate it just as vigorously.

I’d better start holding my breath. Fox News will surely be talking about it for years to come.

And do we have a better evildoer than “the US Republicans?” Ali Shamkhani just calls these conspirators “the US Republicans.”

While I kind of like the idea that all registered Republicans sent a collective message to Tehran, I’d think some of my Fox-News-watching, cloud-shouting, elder relatives wouldn’t have been able to keep the secret, and they never mentioned it to me.

That’s the Republican way of negotiating nowadays: Realize you have no leverage, threaten to do something insane, then use the fear of you doing that as leverage! If I had to guess, the Republicans said they would not only reject the nuclear deal, but they’d bomb them and put sanctions back on. Only if Iran plays along with them, will they only reject the deal.

I’m envisioning Ted Cruz, frothing at the mouth, accusing the Iranian president of being a Muslim
