Stupid Republican idea of the day

Yup, I’ve stopped reading Dilbert altogether. Wasn’t particularly fresh anymore and, knowing that it is written by a man edging into full blown mental illness made it even more sad. I just don’t care to support him anymore by giving it clicks.

Especially from someone who is presumed at least basically educated. But apparently you can go through high school, college and law school without ever being taught logic, common sense or empathy.

It’s almost as if he’s trying to pretend that it wasn’t his idea not to allow a vote on the nominee.

The Heritage Foundation, trying to find a justification to oppose transgender bathroom usage, now believes in a “constitutionally guaranteed right to privacy”.

You know, the one they’ve spent decades insisting didn’t exist when it was being used to defend access to birth control and abortion.

Isn’t that a bit like saying “But only four people so far have been mauled by the shark we put in the swimming pool. Only four !” ?

If only Obama hadn’t nominated a raving centrist fanatic. Has anyone ever honored him with such accolades as “strict constructionist” or “originalist”? Besides, when a Supreme is called to pass the Golden Bar, the President is expected to nominate someone who most closely aligns with views of the Dour Departed. Been that way since the days of the very earliest Chief Justice, and is famously known as “Marshall Law”. That’s a true fact, you could look it up!

I’m sorry. I know this thread is supposed to be about the stupidities of the GOP intelligentsia — statesmen and scholars like Sean Hannity, Rick Santorum, and Marco Rubio — and not about ordinary dolts and sheeple like Bricker and Shodan. But this one has me laughing so much I can’t stop. I want to share.

Recall that Obama inherited the worst financial disaster since the 1929 Crash and for more than two years the world economy was on the verge of utter collapse. The U.S. recovered, with the S&P 500 index more than tripling from its low. (To quote Omar Little, “That’s something you don’t see every day.”) The last 73 months have seen uninterrupted job growth — that’s another one for the record books.

Now, one can attempt the sensical claim that Obama was not responsible for that unprecedented recovery. But that’s not what Shodan did. He apparently thinks the stock market tripling was some sort of cherry-pick or spin.

I wonder if Mr. Shodan even noticed the date on his own cherry:

LOL. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think even junior high school graduates would know not to judge a 6-year trend by ignoring the final 4 years, no?

Unbelievable that someone this stupid could imagine his “thoughts” have any value at all.

In order to protect your privacy, they need to know what your 'nads looked like at birth.

So, they want child porn on file from every child ever born? :dubious:

Trump spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany thinks waterboarding could have stopped the Orlando massacre.

If you don’t like this link, the CNN video is embedded.

I wonder whom she wants to waterboard? American citizen Omar Mateen, who legally obtained his weapons?

Since when does the Constitution guarantee privacy ?

(ETA : yes, I know. That’s what’s funny about this !)

When it first did, unless it never did, then it wasn’t then, but later.

If we knew who to waterboard then waterboarding wouldn’t have been necessary.

Maybe her plan is to waterboard people at random hoping that we’ll catch the ones planning to bomb something, or maybe each American will have a required monthly waterboarding session.

It guarantees their privacy, not yours.

Or maybe just Muslims.

In terms of NR’s argument, it is invalid because the Constitution guarantees rights relative to the Government: it does not protect us from each other. If they ever get around to passing the 28[sup]th[/sup] amendment,
Amendment XVIII
Section 1: Don’t be an asshole.
Section 2: There is no section two.
that might change things. Most notably, it would almost certainly wipe out the Republiopathic Party.

I see they also took out the “No Poofters!” section. Probably still sulking about that.

Substantive due process. Which Bork denied existed, btw.

Whew, reason 1,354, it’s great to be white.
(Yeah, I know Muslim isn’t a skin color, but try explaining the to a crazy Republican.)

No, the plan is simple and obvious… If you assume that all Muslims are terrorists and that they all plot together to bring down America in various ways.

Thus why it’s so easy to make fun of.
