Doesn’t XVIII = 18? I think you meant XXVIII.
Yeah, the 18th was already repealed.
Gov. LePage, angry at legislature, threatens to cut Drugs for the Elderly program
I bet Maine is really looking forward to kicking his ass to the curb.
Shit like this is why I consider LePage evil instead of just stupid.
Seriously, it’s like he wakes up in the morning and asks himself, “What can I do to be an even bigger asshole today?”
I have known one or two people who were drunk assholes, as well as asshole drunks.
but not poufters
If Republicans are so concerned about big government, and so concerned about spending, maybe they should stop passing stupid intrusive laws that they then have to spend tax dollars to defend.
(While fumbling through my mess of a library looking for my latest Atlantic Monthly, I stumbled on a 3-year old issue. :smack: )
Recall that surveys based on self-reporting show that Republicans are more generous than Democrats. It turns out that, not only are they less generous, but they lie more often.
Tom Cotton has to be asked 3 times by Chuck Todd why he supports Donald Trump.
The takeaway line from that article is:[
](Republican Senator Has To Be Asked Three Times To Explain Why He Supports Donald Trump | HuffPost Latest News)And yet I keep reading how overall, this is a much safer, much less armed-conflict-y time to live than any other in the history of civilization. I guess Sen. Cotton and I don’t read the same things.
I have a friend who is a liberal Democrat, but her husband watches Fox News constantly and she absorbs a lot of what they’re saying. I have been in an argument with her for several years about how things are really much better now, but I can’t seem to get through to her. The other day someone had posted a graph of homicide rates in the U.S. since its founding, showing the steady downward trend, so I printed it out and showed it to her. Her response was, “I don’t believe it,” and she went on to tell me the story of some recent horrible murder. Conservative media has really done a number on people with fearmongering. Add to that the insistence that facts aren’t important, and that what you feel in your gut is the truth, and there’s no way to convince them that we really are safer now. Don’t even get me started on the attitudes toward kids’ safety – it’s insane that people worry more about stranger abductions than they do about talking on their cell phones while driving.
Tenth? Hundredth? Thousandth Python reference? Doesn’t matter. And we’ll have no pooofters!
Allen West is upset at the War on Independence Day
My favorite part, though, is that he thinks people should say “Steadfast and Loyal, Happy 240th American Independence Day!”
I was born in 1960 and it’s never been anything but the 4th of July.
Good thing that July is always added. I might forget what month the holiday takes place in.
So edumacate a dirty foreigner… what’s so significant about the 240th, then ? I mean, 250 I could see, and 200 goes without saying. But who gives a hoot about the 240th *anything *?
Nothing at all significant about 240
Now, 420 …
But only in Colorado and Washington.
