Stupid Republican idea of the day

It’s Allen West. Nobody knows why he does anything.

I think “a significant day” in the quote was meant to modify Independence Day, not 240th, i.e. it’s SO important that you should know the number as a matter of course.

Hell, I don’t know which Bastille Day this is going to be even if I know which years it celebrates. Had to work it out on my fingers and errything.

(it’s a trick. It’s not 1789. It’s 1789 AND 1790, the day of the Fête de la Fédération celebrating the abolition of social classes & unity of all French people. Now you know ! Astonish your friends ! Ruin a party that had been going well so far with obscure trivia !)

Should somebody point out to him that is the very definition of “politically correct”?

Almost thirty thousand in this thread alone. Seems like almost every post in here, as implied by the subject, is about the Silly Walks Party.

ahem You mean the Ministry of Silly Walks, don’t you?

There you go dragging religion into it again…
ahem Let’s call the Church Police!

Of course, this is an outrage. Remember the immortal words of George M. Cohan?

“I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy, a Yankee Doodle do-or-die
A real-live nephew of my Uncle Sam
Born on American Independence Day”

Or perhaps the silly party. Their candidates name may be spelled T-R-U-M-P but pronounced, “Tarquin Fin- tim- lim- bim- whin- bim- lim- bus- stop- F’tang- F’tang- Olè- Biscuitbarrel”

My take. If we all started called it Independence Day instead of the 4th of July, pretty soon it would be scheduled for the first Monday of July instead of July 4th. Think Memorial Day (May 30), Columbus Day (Oct 12), Presidents’ Day (Feb 12 and 22nd), etc.

Oh Gods no. Schedule it the first Friday in July, so no one has to try to sleep through the fireworks and then get up to work the next day, like we did this year. :o

House Republicans are considering holding another investigation that couldn’t at all be possibly politically motivated, to find out if the Democrats who sat in on the House floor should be disciplined.

As was to be expected. Congressman Mike Turner (Asshole, Ohio) wants a new independent counsel to investigate Hillary.

Not a bad idea, but we shouldn’t allow Congress to even consider it.

BTW, my ‘called’ had to have been the product an auto correction of ‘calling’.

If at first you don’t succeed, fail… and fail again. And fail again. And fail again.

Pardon if I am mistaken, but doesn’t an independent prosecutor have to be appointed by the Attorney General?

Does my reading comprehension fail?
Are these guys accusing the FBI of being partisan and biased? Of a highly respected investigator being a lacky?

Shouldn’t an FBI investigation be the gold standard for fact finding and investigative prowess? How could an ad hoc committee or political apointee be better than America’s premier investigative agency?

The Eternal Republican Hardon for All Things Clinton. TERHATC. The anagram needs work.

I think you mean acronym. Anagrammatically, you could make CHATTER, but that doesn’t work syntactically.

How about Baseline InTerminable Clinton Hatred? Or maybe Weird Incessant Theatric Congressional Hearings - Hillary’s** U**nending Notional Trial

Thanks. My fingers were faster than my brain on that one!
