Stupid Republican idea of the day

In Rick’s defense, it was over fifteen posts ago.

…or was it?

Pepe the Frog is not really the property of the alt-right. He’s more like a pothead character.

My loyalties have never shifted from Pepe the odoriferous romantic.

Statistically, that’s pretty close to true, especially of men. The reason we care when they get caught is because it demonstrates an inability to keep a damn secret and/or conduct themselves with even the most basic dignity.

In an epic case of bad timing, thousands of Minnesotans received mailers from the state GOP today attacking a Democratic House candidate for being late on paying his taxes, asking "“Would you trust someone who didn’t pay his own taxes to protect our tax dollars?”

Reading that article, one wonders whether State GOP Chair Keith Downey is being extremely stupid or extremely clever.

A campaign that simultaneously supports your local campaign while stealth-sandbagging Trump would be a pretty slick move if intentional.

Charter schools are an idea that could have merit if operated sincerely and with values, but often become a cesspool for fraudsters. Here’s a good documentary on the abuses of charter schools. It may deserve its own thread.

I’m posting here because the documentary focuses especially on the charter schools of Ohio, and makes clear what a filthy and ugly turd John Kasich is.

When the 17 Republican clowns were being humiliated by Donald Trump, Kasich was often held up as the “adult” on the stage, the man actually competent to sit in the Oval Office and have control of the nuclear launch codes. What a sick joke to imagine that pathetic and venal man being the best the GOP had to offer!

Charter schools still receive government funding and are subject to oversight by said government, so I wouldn’t expect much better performance than with public schools.

No one seems to want to get to an actual solution, which is for parents to enroll their kids in whatever public school they want, and for government money to follow the students to whichever school they are attending.

extremely stupid or extremely clever?

This thread is over 31,000 posts long. I am going to go with stupid. Far too many with (R) after their name are saying how horrible Trump is but they are still going to vote for their party’s candidate.

I think you would see more “principled” republicans denouncing Trump if it weren’t for the Supreme Court. The tards will hold the House, so they can tell Hillary to go screw on most things, but Scalia is dead, Thomas wants to retire, Ginsburg is 84, Kennedy is 80 and Breyer is 78. There could be multiple appointments in the first term of the next prez.

Thomas wants to retire?

GOOD NEWS!

Looks like I fell for some gossip. Maybe. Who knows? His wife says no.

His wife also called up Anita Hill and asked her to apologize for being sexually harassed, so I don’t think I’d trust her to predict a sunrise.

Just when you think he can’t get any dumber:

Me too. Is he trying to piss off everyone?

Just posting to report that this link is inactive. I’m guessing that somebody figured out that it was embarrassing as hell.

No; he seems pretty live-and-let-live with the white supremacists.

Or was this a joke?

Usual crap. If teh gummint doin’ it, teh gummin farked it up. Geeez, don’t you filthy morons get tired of wallowing in your own ignorance?

And you obviously didn’t watch the documentary. Among the big problems it points out is that Republicans have written laws so that one private company can oversee schools run by its sibling private company. The problem isn’t government oversight; it’s the lack thereof — as usual you’ve got it completely backwards. Unless “government oversight” to you means the “lack of oversight caused by Republitard malice” in which case you need to see the light better.

Charter schools are supposed to be non-profit. But in GOP-controlled states, the charter school can pass 99% of its revenue to a school management company which is under no non-profit restriction. The abuses are egregious.

Fighting ignorance is hard, adaher, but with you it’s one baby-step forward, five steps back.

I agree, and not just to protect us from gay people. If the Supreme Court finds the gerrymandering so common in Red States to be unconstitutional, the GOP is in deep shit. I think Ryan and McConnell are well aware of this.
