A Ohio State Senator, Bill Cooley, has introduced legislation to classify fantasy sports pools, including those conducted by your office mates, as “schemes of chance”, thus giving the Casino Control Commission authority to require registration, licensure, payment of fees, and investigations and penalties if noncompliant.
Maybe, but he’s right. People are betting on this (in fact it’s a hyperfast growing industry) and I don’t see any reason it should be treated any different than any other type of betting - or, for that matter, why the betters shouldn’t get protection from getting ripped off on their bets.
If we’re talking about office pools, there’s no “industry” to speak of. It’s just a bet between friends. And if Cooley wants to legislate that, I think he’d be infringing upon his constituents personal freedoms. Don’t you?
Sure, maybe, but then I’m French and therefore used to thorough government infringement :).
But even so, you know he’s not *really *talking about regulating office pools or friendly agreements and such, any more than laws on casino poker are enforced on Friday nights at Ted from Accounting’s. He wants to regulate the guys who run this sorry shit.
You have heard of praying for rain? In Oklahoma, they are praying for oil. The leader of the Baptist Convention of the Oil Patch Chaplains Ministry, affiliated with the Oilfield Christian Fellowship, says that governor Fallin has declared Oct. 13th to be Oilfield Prayer Day.
One of his constituents wrongly convicted, already released from prison. Cleared by DNA that pointed to another man. Just wants his record cleared. Even the prosecutor thinks he should be pardoned.
This was after Cooper had already waited 3 years for a pardon for a crime for which he has been exonerated.
And where, pray tell, will you put 85% of the country? I would think those camps would be rather…hard to hide.
And where did the labor come from to do all this building? And the materials? Who has been producing and transporting all the food and water needed?
Who will do the rounding up?
The sort who believes this sort of masochistic martyr-bating also believe that only a fraction of the people who profess to be Christian are True Christians who will be persecuted. :dubious: They’re in that fraction, of course.
I’ve known quite a few Christians over my many years. Agreed with few, liked few, but I don’t remember then being THAT stupid.
My question would be that if you think Hillary was gonna do it, why would you think the Donald wouldn’t? Crikey, he’d sell us all for parts if he could.
What really gets me about Anti-Christ types, is that Trump perfectly fits the profile of who they think he will be - the great deceiver. My sister-in-law is one of those and I would love to point this out to her. She, of course, would respond that the Anti-Christ wouldn’t be someone on her side. Then I’d say “but that’s how he gets you!”. Oh, well, I gave up beating my head against her wall a long time ago.
Funny, Hannity cannot even get his bible right. It was Solomon who had the large seraglio (300 wives and 700 concubines). If I remember correctly, David only had about 5 wives (and probably enough vodka to cope).
Well, David had this thing going on with Bathsheba…don’t think the Bible specifies whether he grabbed her by the pussy or just found her naked body terrifically appealing. Anyway it did not end well for Bathsheba’s unfortunate husband, whose fate was more than mere cuckoldom.
But God, we may recall, was not especially thrilled with this little incident and did exact revenge of a sort…as the prophet explained to David, “the sword shall never depart from your house.” Hmm. Donald, beware.
