Stupid Republican idea of the day

They actually had to tote in a Republican Senator in a wheel chair to actually get it to a tie.

That’s just how they roll.

I want you to go to your room and think about what you’ve done, young man. You can come out when you’re ready to apologize.

The American system of checks and balances as understood by a Republican congresscritter:

You have to keep in mind who [House Intelligence Committee chair Devin Nunes] works for. He works for the president and answers to the president.

Jawohl!

We talking coat hanger or shotgun here ?

Well, to be serious for a moment, I skimmed through an overview of the Dilation and Curettage With Suction procedure and I could picture someone who was not a doctor but who had been trained in this specific process performing it safely. The problem of course, is that person won’t know what to do if they encounter complications, and I’d overlooked the need for local or general anesthesia.

Clearly my suggestion has some major flaws, but I can overall see the value of a workaround strategy to take advantage of legislative inability to ban abortion outright, combined with lawmaker reluctance to punish the patient herself. In an earlier thread about mandatory ultrasounds, I proposed an “efficient” ultrasound procedure, i.e. the technician waves a wand in the general direction of a fully-clothed for five seconds, hands her a picture of a fetal ultrasound, then stamps or signs whatever documents she needs to prove that she’s had an ultrasound procedure done. Since these procedures were not spelled out in detail in the legislation itself, I saw no problem and was unconvinced by posters who said this idea wouldn’t work.

In Indiana, and presumably other states as well, doing something like a D&C would require appropriate medical certification. A basic EMT in Indiana isn’t allowed to check a patient’s blood sugar without a paramedic, advanced EMT, or other medical professional present. They can assist a patient taking their own sugar, but can’t do so themselves. It’s considered an invasive procedure since the skin is being broken. It would run the risk of losing one’s license to perform something like a D&C without the right training, and I doubt states would make it easy for one to get that license.

The entire coal industry employs fewer people than Arby’s. So, I guess it makes sense to build more Arby’s than coal mines. :stuck_out_tongue:

Gov. Sam Brownback vetoed legislation that would have expanded Medicaid to cover 150,000 low-income Kansans.

“I am vetoing this expansion of ObamaCare because it fails to serve the truly vulnerable before the able-bodied…” Brownback said, plus other horseshit.

Here’s hoping Gov. Brownback dies the most painful, prolonged death that his own medical coverage can provide. Fucker.

That article really bugged me, because it should have read “a Gorgon.” Medusa was a Gorgon named Medusa.

It’s like referring to a vampire as “a Dracula.”

Yes, I am an old fusspot. Get the FUCK off my lawn.

You mean your grasslot?

Eh, they just probably looked it up in their Monster Manual, where Gorgons are iron-plated bulls that breathe petrifying gas (damn Pliny), and Medeusas are the snaky-hair with petrifying eyes.

… Although, didn’t we have a Doper who wrote the book on Gorgons?

I blame Pliny the Elder for everything.

Hello.
My name is Elder Pliny.
And I would like to share with you the most amazing book…

That would be the same one who provided the Medusa quote. If Cal can do it, I think it’s okay.

Never mind that. Who wrote the book on gorgons? I think I own it;

yeah, it was cal. Gave it to Wife. As usual, haven’t seen it since

Another reason why ex-Gov. Rick Perry should have his balls cut off, be thrown into a burlap bag with a rabid badger, and tossed into the nearest body of water. Fucker.
