Yeah, he didn’t seem to realize that they were two separate investigations. Comey politely tried to make it clear without embarrassing the old fuck too much, but didn’t get the message across.
McCain is senile.

This worked out great for Florida and other states when they tried it for people on TANF. :rolleyes:Cite
It would be interesting to find out which of Walker’s big donors owns drug testing labs…
That’s the thing about SRIotD’s: if they pass the ideology test, it doesn’t matter if it works or not.
One of many quips from my twitter feed today.
Listening to his questions I think that McCaine was suggesting that to be fair, the FBI should be investigating both Hillary campaigns and Trump campaigns for collusion as part of their investigation of the Russian hacking, and that in the same way that it might be premature to say that Trump is not involved, it is premature to say that Clinton wasn’t involved.
This of course ignores the obvious fact that Hillary is unlikely to collude with the Russians to sabotage her own campaign, but flase equivalence is all they’ve got right now.
McCain later issued a written statement that makes more sense. What he was trying to say…
Comey concluded the Clinton investigation by saying that “no reasonable prosecutor” would press charges. But when asked if Trump has engaged in obstruction of justice, he gets coy, deferring to others with prosecutorial power. Kind of inconsistent.
Trump dared to hope. His generous and forgiving nature, his warm sympathy sees the fallen Mike Flynn as just another misled soul, to be brought back into the fold. And so he expressed it, he “hoped” that Comey would soften his heart and let this retired warrior fade away with whatever dignity remains.
Comey would have none of it, his liberal thirst for blood was aroused.
Well, good for Congressman Gianforte. :scratches “knock Greg Gianforte’s block off” off agenda:
ETA: Gianforte is expected to plead no contest or guilty, and be sentenced for misdemeanor assault: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-montana-politics-assault-idUSKBN18Z34C
…bears little or no resemblance to what he actually said?
Let’s check this: The Clinton investigation was concluded, and no new information was likely to be forthcoming. So his comment was based on the totality of the information collected.
The Trump investigation has not concluded, and much new information may come to light. Why would he reach a conclusion without all the information?
There’s nothing inconsistent about Dir. Comey’s refusal to characterize an on-going investigation as though it were concluded. It’s astounding that anyone could think there was.
What it is like going through life Flat Headed, Drunk and Stupid: The Trump Internet was pretty thrilled with the Comey hearing.
Oh yeah, several Republicans I know are already declaring victory.
Trump could have been tried, convicted, and executed, and they’d still find a way to spin it as a victory.
I know I would.
It would be a victory against the democrats, as of course, they were the ones at fault for getting trump elected in the first place.
I know Bipartisan Report is an iffy source, but the article is linking to a plethora of Twitter accounts claiming new evidence of collusion between Mitch McConnell and Russia.

Another good find, Rick.
I’d be curious now to see what people make of Mr. Dworkin’s research.
That he’s a hack, most likely.

34% of the country has gone completely bonkers apparently. I’m convinced there will never be a lightbulb moment for these people. They could watch Trump get strung up for treason and convince themselves it’s a win. “He sacrificed himself for the cause!”
