Stupid Republican idea of the day

After the Governor of Arizona said that he will no longer support the opening of a new Nike factory that would bring 500 jobs to the state, the Mayor of Goodyear, Arizona, where the facility will be opening, says the city will still support opening it.

From the article. Sounds like a typical Republican:

I’ve never heard the expression “I could give a care” so I don’t know if it’s a reporting error, a regionalism, or the result of illiteracy on the part of Mr. Kotula.

Maybe he’s there to serve as a bad example?

It’s commonly used in some areas as a sanitized form of give a damn.

You seem to have mistaken me for a fan of Loser Donald.

Hey, if it’s hand-stitched, I can respect the pains taken.

Holy shit, who cares about the shoes with the flags on them. If you don’t like them shut up and don’t wear them.

Not speaking to anyone in particular, more of a general ‘you’.

Who the fuck actually wears Nike’s anyway? They have been pretty ugly shoes for a long time. If you like them, more power to you, but damn.

Would you have said that if the Tightie Righties hadn’t picked a fight with them?

You do realize that not only are they the most popular, but polls of runners, athletes and fashionable teens all put Nike at the top or close to it… cite, and cite and cite.

Maybe it’s a Midwest regionalism – the guy’s retired, after all. Living and partially raised here, I’ve never heard it before.

QAnon’s new thing is that John F. Kennedy Junior is going to appear next to Individual 1 at his speech today and may be announced as Individual 1’s running mate, as well as announce that he has proof about Pizzagate.

So Trump ushers in the zombie apocalypse? Sounds right.

Having stopped following QAnon for a while now, but intimately knowing the depth of their kook-ness, but all the same, and I can’t stress it enough : what in the Jesus *fuck *?! And does Elvis know about this ?

Could the emphasized part be the reason for Mike Pence’s sudden trip cancellation?

Yes, I would’ve. If you like the product buy it, if you don’t, don’t. Simple as that.

Not making a political statement here.

I guess it would make sense if they were talking this up just to get a rise out of people, but I suspect at least a substantial portion of them are not trolling—they really believe stuff like this.

The idea that JFK, Jr. would be an ally of Trump is perhaps the most bizarre construction they could have come up with. (As well as being ghoulish as hell.)

There is definitely a contingent of the QAnon posters that are just trolling, trying to see what absurd things they can get people to believe. In some cases they succeed. It reminds me of the late lamented weekly world news (bat boy and aliens), which I would buy and love for purely ironic reasons. I always assumed that that was the only reason anybody bought it until I noticed that all of the advertising was directed at the gullible (psychic readings, crystals, buy gold etc.) so there must be a contingent that took it at least somewhat seriously.

They did! And they all forgot about it as soon as they needed new sneakers.

YouTube has (or at least had) a recording of Paul Robeson singing a Stalin-era translation. I despise the USSR but I have some sympathy for Robeson’s admiration of it. He sure as hell wasn’t getting a fair shake as a black man in mid 20th-century America. I wonder if he ever wore sneakers.

Ain’t no kind of “principles” like Republican “principles”.
