Right wing activists showed up at the police station of the town in New York where the Clintons live, armed with documents demanding the police arrest her. The person at the desk politely took to documents and said they would hand them over to the town prosecutor.
Right-Wing Activists File 'Formal Complaint' with Hillary Clinton's Local Police Department, Demanding Her Arrest?
It proved to be a stupid idea for Fox News to film a live segment in a bar filled with American patriots. I’m pretty sure this wasn’t part of their conception for the segment.
But Trump gets a pass. IOWARDI
That’s not the American flag, you racist piece of shit.
That was one of the flags that flew when Americans still owned other people as property. Fuck that flag.
Also, aspects of the American flag have been controversial to Americans lots of times in the past. Is it okay to burn the American flag? Are we being unpatriotic if we don’t wear an American flag lapel pin? Is it disrespectful to kneel when saluting the American flag during the national anthem?
Trying to make out that such controversies are somehow impermissible or intolerable in American society is exactly the sort of scaremongering authoritarian bullshit that McConnell would pull.
Which was right after they burned them in protest.
I still don’t understand why Nike and GOPers don’t use our current flag. Get with the times, at least.
“Make America 1777 again” This is the time they long for.
No votes for women.
Slavery.
White men hold all the power.
That’s the last thing they want to do. Everybody’s actually equal? Can’t have that!
Can’t speak for Nike, but as for the GOPers : because then it wouldn’t work as a dog whistle, nor would it troll people who grok why the Betsy Ross flag is problematic of course. Pissing off half of the country is a good thing for a politician and leader you see ; because a polarized, uncompromising country where one half hates the other and does everything it can to antagonize it is a healthy, strong country united and pulling together towards shared goals and prosperity.
Or, possibly, because a strongly polarized country is too busy yelling at each other to notice you fucking them all up the arse, nor united enough to do anything about it. *Divide et impera *(or in this particular case, Divide et rapina)
One or the other.
(as for Nike, my cynical view coincides with what others have said in the thread : the controversy gives them cred boost with the left while also selling “rare”, “protest” sneakers to the Tiki torch crowd at a hefty markup ; and the whole thing generates free publicity and interest. There is no principle or cause that can’t be prostituted and monetized under capitalism.)

Kris Kobach, former Governor of Kansas who headed Individual 1’s attempt to remove as many people as possible from the voting rolls, especially if their names didn’t match what was on the registration forms, misspelled his name on his candidacy for Senate documents.
I wonder what his favorite color is.

Candidate: Woman reporter must be joined by male colleague
Please God, let him be squashed in the Primary!
A Vox report on just one day in the life of Fox News.
One day encapsulated everything that’s wrong with Fox News - Vox?
This sounds illegal, but it’s Mississippi. Maybe discrimination on the basis of sex is just fine.
See, it’s the candidate’s unwillingness to take responsibility for his own chaperonage that really grinds my gears:
Dumbfuck, it’s not other people’s responsibility to devote extra resources to your personal supervision requirements. If you as a public servant want to ensure that you’re never alone with a woman, then it’s your responsibility to provide your own chaperone to keep you from ever being alone with a woman. (And said chaperone should be paid from your own money rather than taxpayer funds, too.)
If your cheap ass wants to go through your professional life behaving like a normal unsupervised adult except when you might end up alone with a woman, and you impede said woman’s doing her job properly because you refuse to be alone with her, then you are being a sexist and discriminatory piece of shit. (Also, considering the revelations that have come out about a lot of supposedly heterosexual married Republican politicians, I think you’re kidding yourself when you imagine that you run no risk of being suspected of adulterous activities when you’re alone with a man.)
Actually, I have no intrinsic personal objection to any public servant having religious scruples about being alone with a member of the opposite sex, in and of itself. But if they feel that way, it’s on them to arrange for their own chaperonage in a way that does not discriminate against members of the opposite sex whom they encounter in the course of their duties (and also does not burden the taxpayer with the cost of complying with their scruples).
I don’t see how the male colleague changes the perception he’s afraid of. I’m just assuming he’s into MMF threesomes. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
And here I thought the GOP was the party that kept saying “no Sharia law!”
You must’ve misheard. “No Muslim Sharia law”. Evangelical fundied out Christian Sharia law on the other hand “is what this country was founded on”, don’t you know?
