Stupid Republican idea of the day

Actually a great idea for the Republicans - Religion News: Billy Graham takes Mormonism off cult list

This doesn’t strike me as a thorough re-examination of the origins, texts, and tenets of the Mormon religion. Seems more like political expediency:rolleyes:

Billy Graham personally or Graham’s organization? I’m not a huge Billy Graham fan, but he’s at least on the less-rabid end of that spectrum and not really prone to change his core message for political reasons. Which makes me think that either That Bastard Franklin has been browbeating Dad for quite a while to make that change, or That Bastard Franklin is just making the change himself while Dad is having a bout of dementia.

Candidate Steve Fitzgerald Said:

To which I would scream “CITE!” Why is it that folks that wrap themselves in the cloak of religious superiority often do not even know what the bible says.

C’mon. It’s not like they’ve ever read it.

There are elements of Christian charity and generosity in Billy Graham that are entirely absent in Franklin. Sometimes that “prodigal son” thing doesn’t work out.

I would assume they’d say something along the lines of, “Jesus is God and God says gay marriage is wrong because He made buttholes stinky.”

Wasn’t the prodigal son parable about being forgiven even though you’re an asshole? Seems to fit Frank perfectly.

"Have you ever sat down and read this thing? Technically we’re not allowed to go to the bathroom. ” —Reverend Lovejoy, The Simpsons

I don’t know, this said it was a rumor sustained after the autobiography was published

This said he admitted to being an Atheist in his autobiography
Shortly before his death, Ozzie Nelson published his autobiography, in which he shocked many of his Bible-belt fans by revealing that he was a lifelong atheist
It seems like there has to be somebody that had read the fucking book somewhere and could weigh in.

Apparently, his “good biblical grounds” are derived from the Book of Chaplin:

The phrase “true fact” is usually a red flag.

Latest walking-back of talking points; Peter King is now incensed that it took Obama four minutes to refer to Benghazi as an act of terror.

Honorable mention; it looks like we finally know who inspired all these CEOs to tell their employees they’re fired if Obama wins - it was (surprise, surprise) Mitt Romney’s idea.

D’Souza is 51 years old. Denise Odie Joseph is 29 years old. Sure, while it is technically biologically possible for three generations to be separated by only 22 years, most of us don’t reproduce at the age of 11, so I think the old “young enough to be his daughter” cliche is adequate for our pearl-clutching needs.

Let me note that per this website, Odie Joseph was also married and has been known to write, straight-faced, such hilarious gems as “I was already going to vote for Romney because my husband told me to.” Gee, I wonder if her husband also told her to bang D’Souza.

I didn’t become non-religious, I converted to another faith, but conservative “Christians” who hate welfare but cheer military spending are a large part of the reason I stopped being one.

Well, as Romney said:

And, as we all know from honorable posters here, as long as it’s legal, it is the right thing to do.

By the “half-your-age-plus-seven” rule that’s not “Eeeew!” It’s “You the man!”

(looking at her photo on her blog)

Okay, maybe a bit “Eeeew!” Lots less creepy if she, herself, weren’t creepy, though. Maybe kinda toothsome in a toothy sort of way.

Yeah? And?

Just commenting on Steve MB’s cradle-robbing suggestion.
