Stupid Republican idea of the day

Louie Gohmert sounds the alarm about the al-Quesadilla menace:

Mark Sanford’s statement about the charges against him for trespassing on his ex-wife’s property:

I can just picture the scene – Mark, worried that his ex might show up at any moment, trying to sneak out in the dark guided by the light of his cell phone, only to find himself busted…

I thought they hated us for our freedoms.

I think it’s kind of like how all those married republican guys hate gay people for the hot, hot sex they have.

That’s a mistranslation. In fact, they hate us for our fajitas.

Quote:
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), one of the most conservative members of the House, said on Wednesday that Islamic terrorists were training members to pretend to be Latino in order to infiltrate the United States.

“We know Al Qaeda has camps over with the drug cartels on the other side of the Mexican border,” he said in an appearance on C-SPAN, according to the Huffington Post. “We know that people that are now being trained to come in and act like Hispanic [sic] when they are radical Islamists. We know these things are happening. It is just insane not to protect ourselves, to make sure that people come in as most people do … They want the freedoms we have.”…

I’m so confused. I thought they hated us for our freedoms, but now they want them? Help…

They hate how we make them want our freedoms.

Stay classy, Mitch:

The Oklahoma House Majority Leader Dennis Johnson has a harmless laugh at the expense of an admittedly small Oklahoma constituency:

[quote]

In defending the bill, Rep. Dennis Johnson (R-Duncan), who is a small business owner himself, asserted that service will always win over price.

“[Customers] might try to Jew me down on the price,” Johnson added. “That’s fine. You know what? That’s free market as well.”

After it was pointed out to him that the phrase “to Jew down” might be considered offensive by, say, Jewish people, Johnson half-heartedly apologized.

“I apologize to the Jews,” he said, to laughter from his colleagues in the House. “They’re good small business men as well.”

Gawker

Is he calling all Jews short too?

The stereotype, and an unfair one I might add, is that Republicans are all insensitive, sexist, racist, and homophobic.

You’d think the Republican National leadership would address this, just for the sake of their party being electable, by putting out a notice- if you say offensive things about women, gays, and racial minorities, you can no longer count on national GOP support.

But no, not a peep. And every week, a half dozen elected Republicans say stuff that would have been considered retarded in the 1950’s.

If they did that they’d have to run Olympia Snowe and Jon Huntsman for every single office.

Two Republicans who haven’t pissed me off yet.

Well played.

Two private citizens. Note that they were both effectively forced out of public life by their party for their willingness to see Democrats as something other than the enemy.

What? Snowe could have won reelection without even campaigning. She didn’t want to because of partisanship, but it’s a stretch to say she was “forced out”.

The force didn’t come only from her constituents, but from her caucus. Yes, she would probably have beaten Michaud or Pingree or King, but it would have taken some work.

Oh, come on, cut him some slack.

That image is actually reasonably unoffensive and somewhat amusing. AND looks like it was created by someone who has actually comprehended we’re in the 21st century, rather than a person who’d be more comfortable faxing their joke to everyone.

It’s a masterpiece of brilliant wit compared to their usual fare.

Besides, are they actually sure that’s two different guys there? Have they ever been seen together? Because I can’t tell the difference between them in side-by-side photos.

I do not think that word means what he thinks it means

Just in case anyone had a smidge of doubt, Snopes and Factcheck debunk the ammo rumor.

Factcheck went further than they usually do by calling it Bullet Baloney.

Snopes said DHS had ordered 174,000 bullets, but then explained the intended uses for that relatively small number which are far from a “takeover”.

Since Republicans seem to project their own motives and thinking on Democrats, I now wonder what these folks will do the next time their own administration is in power.

Really, 174,000 bullets in the back of the head executions wouldn’t come close to the number of Americans that need killin’! This is only round one.
