Newt Gingrich, on Twitter, demands John “Kerrey” (he misspells the name repeatedly) resign because of his global-warming speech in Indonesia.

Made even more stupid when one realizes what Newt said before on 2007, and to Kerry no less.

If I can, let me explain partly why this is a very challenging thing to do if you’re a conservative. For most of the last 30 years, the environment has been a powerful emotional tool for bigger government and higher taxes. And therefore, if you’re a conservative, the minute you start hearing these arguments, you know what’s coming next: which is bigger government and higher taxes.

So even though it may be the right thing to do, you end up fighting it because you don’t want big government and higher taxes. And so you end up in these kinds of cycles. And part of the reason I was delighted to accept this invitation and I’m delighted to be here with Sen. Kerry is I think there has to be a if you will a “green conservatism” — there has to be a willingness to stand up and say alright here’s the right way to solve these as seen by our value system.

It is like throwing himself under the bus.

So, yes, when someone states the obvious as if it is some kind of rhetorical victory, it feels like someone is talking down to me.

I disagree with the point you were making, but I strongly sympathise with your reaction. I frequently express my own non-mainstream opinions precisely because they oppose conventional “wisdom” and get the non-sequitur reaction, “Hey dude, that’d not what the in-crowd is crowd-thinking!”

I’d say it’s more an evil idea than a stupid one. Mostly evil with just a tinge of stupidity to it, I’d say. If the people in Arkansas are so stupid that they don’t know they can apply for ACA, well … it’s not really a stupid idea, is it.

BTW, I’m from Georgia where the Governor and the republican majority legislature are fighting ACA tooth and nail. I applied (the website really WAS a mess!) and am now getting health care at GREATLY reduced costs. Suck my dick, Nathan Deal and Georgia Republicans! I am getting affordable health care! Nanner-nanner doo-doo!

Those stages are very similar to the five stages of grief: (1) Denial, (2) Anger, (3) Bargaining. The final two stages will come in the future:
