Stupid Republican idea of the day

Yet again the Republicans don’t get that Hitler actually repealed the stiff gun control laws implemented by Weimar.

Dude, they put Gandhi in with the pro-guns. You might have heard of him, tiny bald brown guy, wore a towel, lobbied for non-violence and passivity in the face of aggression his entire life ? I think it’s safe to say historical trivia isn’t the forte of whoever made that image.

Just the other night saw Gandhi tell Elizabeth I that he is sending ten armored divisions and he’s gonna rip her tits off.

Offered without comment.

Wow, I knew that Gandhi could be an aggressive asshole, but it sounds like they really kicked it up a notch in Civ V.

You’re not kidding.

I assume a MMA/cage match sort of format. I think I’d take Washington’s team. Gandhi would be useless, of course, but Lincoln was wicked strong.

Scooped!

I think I saw that Red Dwarf episode.. Poor Winnie the Pooh got shot. Which * completely* refutes the Republican argument on gun control. I think.

I’ll go with Kahless, Genghis Khan, Colonel Green and Zora.

Here is a discussion of what the gun rights people are taking out of context. Basically, Gandhi was saying that if the ban on Indians using guns could be lifted, than they could join with the British in fighting in WWI, which might help to convince the British that they were worthy of being considered as equal partners in the Empire.

That Gandhi would support the individual gun ownership in order to fight off the oppressor is of course ludicrous.

Er, um, maybe Gandhi favored non-violence because his side didn’t have guns, and so they couldn’t effectively defend themselves against an army?

Yeah, that’s the ticket!

The problem for the gun rights people is that Ghandi won.

It would appear that the new talking points from the Oil and Gas Industry are out…Both John Boehner and Paul Ryan, in totally unrelated interviews, have said that Oil and Gas exports and starting work on the Keystone Pipeline are the key to ending the crisis in The Ukraine.

And yet he himself refused any active (that is to say, people-killy) role in the war.

If winning includes being assassinated by a man with a gun, then sure!. Lincoln and MLK were winners by the same standards.

But he did serve as a stretcher-bearer, IIRC. Act of mercy, perfectly nonviolent and Gandhian, never mind that you’re aiding and abetting a war effort . . .

John McCain has come out today with the idea that an essay Obama wrote when he was a senior at Columbia is the basis for the Ukraine crisis.

Stephen Colbert wants gays to send Congressman King videos of them having gay sex to prove to him that there really are gay people.

I read an article in Bloomberg the other day about this. American natural gas producers are chomping at the bit to sell LNG to Europe & why not Ukraine? Even if they can’t do it right now, we’re still talking about American multinationals who’d love some juicy contracts in Ukraine helping bring their energy sector up to the 21st century. If Russia wants to play games and shut off the gas to Ukraine, as it has twice before, there are plenty of companies more than willing to step in and make Central and Eastern European gas and oil much more secure and reliable. We just have to get their economies to the point they can afford it.

Fracking isn’t popular in the EU, but it’s a potential in Ukraine.

When will we get the proposal for a transAtlantic piipeline?
