Stupid Derplahoman Idea of the Day. You can just tell the next legislative session in Oklahoma City is warming up. Reprsentative Josh Cockroft has introduced HRJ 1006 that will change State Supreme Court justices from selection by a committee and appointment by the Gov. to a system of state wide election.
Key points he brought up are that the judges must be accountable to the electorate (we see how well the will of the majority works nationwide) and the Judicial branch was never intended to be a co-equal branch nor independent just like the founding fathers designed it.
Great - we don’t have enough politics, campaigning, PACs, pandering to donors already. Also, poor Josh can’t read either the Oklahoma constitution - Article 4; the US constitution; and he certainly has never read the Federalist Papers #78 by Hamilton.
If he gets his way and the Justices are elected - Atty. Gen. Scott Pruitt will finally win some cases at the state level before being smacked down at the US Supreme Court.
