Suck My Tar Balls Through Your Vuvuzela - SDMB Poker - Q3, 2010

with a 5, 1, 2 i really want to see what mensa’s face looks like tomorrow.

the dog is going to need some special counseling.

wooooooot. wooooooot.

good game ghosty. let’s make it three in a row next week.

rubber match, so to speak.

Fuck this Nanny State. If I want to blow my money on online poker, why can’t I? I mean I flat out don’t get that. Who the fuck thinks they are more high and more mighty than me, fucking elites on the right.

[[Re: The free money at party poker, specifically states US is out of the promo.]]

Sounds good. As I’m on mensa’s “shit list”, I may not be able to make it to the end…

In all seriousness, it’s been a crazy and fun two weeks. (still laughing at fubbs just sitting there and still placing 5th…)

May be a little political for the Game Room, but I don’t think the U.S. Right has a monopoly on hating non-state sanctioned gambling. Both sides would much rather you play their lotteries and horse racing, bucking negative expectations of ~-50-75% and proving Ross Perot’s observation, “The state lottery is a tax on stupid people.”

Otherwise, as a small-L libertarian, I totally agree with you.

At risk of hijacking, yeah, I was like, “I’m not sounding leftist here, I’m sounding libertarian.”

Heh.

On July 28, 2010, the committee passed H.R. 2267 by a vote of 41-22-1. The bill would legalize and regulate online poker and some other forms of online gambling.[34][35]**

Thats tucked away in a wiki article. Anyone have deets on this?

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)–A House panel voted on Wednesday to approve a measure that would seek to regulate many forms of online gambling, in an effort to overturn an existing law that bans the increasingly popular Internet-based gambling.

I don’t have much to add, except that I am getting uncomfortably close to my former quarters, the basement. I hope that previous occupants will have had my Lazy-Boy fumigated before I arrive. And the 47" flat screen had better be still there.

Are you sure those are right?

I thought I would have plummeted a lot further than that.

so oslo i am actually better off this week than i was last week?

asshole.

hee hee.

woot the fracking woot.

see you folks next thursday when i am sure that the sun will begin to rise in the east, once again.

and oslo i swear the stains were there when i arrived. and the 4.7" screen is still there. i even left a couple of double a’s to power it for the next occupant. figuring i would need them to keep current with “i love lucy”.

I registered and then promptly fell asleep. Please don’t count this towards the running stats, unless it’s somehow a huge pain to remove it.

I wonder if there’d be any value in having a bot every week as some kind of watermark?

“…I wonder if there’d be any value in having a bot every week as some kind of watermark?..”

Bolding Mine

Peeker is already our resident stain and skidmark. We don’t need another one.

the supplicants are always so jealous of their betters.

Negreanu had a not-awful week:

For a young guy, I think he has this online poker thing figured out.
He tweeted today about having laser hair removal from his neck, back and chest. LOL

I second fbbs doing everything he can, so long as that it always means a 3rd or better place for me.
I mean, I think a lot of us would be content with a consistent third place here.

Peeker as a “skidmark” ? Guess that leaves him with a consistent turd place.

I thought of suggesting that once, but it alters the game in unpredictable ways. Whoever winds up sitting to the right of the bot probably gets an unfair advantage. When that player posts the small blind, if the table folds around to him he can steal the big blind with no risk of being called. (Of course, the player to his right will know this too, and knows he’s getting that much better odds to call with the big blind sitting out.)

If the seats are determined randomly, any advantage would even out over time, but I’d still rather not throw in a random element that affects the play.

Couldn’t we not reverse engineer a bot, after the game? Would it mirror the blind structures in any way?

I mean, it just seems to me, if it is indeed a watermark [as I understand how you guys are using the term] it would be a simple [Ok, not that simple] matter of math, regardless of who is playing.

Then again, we all know where I live most often in the standings, probably below the watermark, so take this with a grain of salt.

You’re somewhat correct Meeko, with the blind structure and pace, a robot will last a predictable amount of time.

With the 13-14 players that we typically have, robot will last about 5-10 minutes after the break. If we have a bigger field, robot will last a little longer, a shorter field, a not quite as long.

With the 13-14 players, the table only have 6-7 players and the robot will have to post more blinds than if we started with 18 players.

My goal:

To last as long as a bot.

I could probably do it, but I’ll screw up and try to think for myself and play some hands. My weakness, my burden, my downfall.

Welcome to my world, Duckie.
