East or west?
Oh. I am so sorry. Really. Ugh.
Writing a lab practical. Oh joy. Oh bliss.
Shanklin 107 was cool this morning.
Summer? Hardly. The leafy trees haven’t even put out their leaves yet. That shouldn’t be too long now, though, a couple more weeks or so. Summer up here is great but quite short.
It’s cold, extremely windy and rainy here. At this point, I wouldn’t mind a little warmth.
Well, must dash off to complete metric buttloads of work.
Smooches to all.
Right now in Jackson, MS: sunny, 76 degrees, 69% humidity. High around 88 degrees and 2000% humidity. You walk out the door and your lungs fill with moisture. I love the sunshine, but you can keep the mugginess. I’m thankful for my gym membership.
It’s my easy day at work: on the first of the month, I work on getting everything ready to start the new month. It’s nice.
Best time of the year in the Holy Land: 20-25 degrees* by day, a few showers yesterday but mostly the rainy season is over, humidity is manageable – neither 0 nor 100% (which are the only two options in the summer)
Too bad it’s going to be full-blown summer in less than a month… At which time any broken A/C is not a nuisance – it becomes debilitating
Having skimmed last week’s MMP, belated hugs and condolences to **Haze **and **Boo **for their respective SOs’ losses of their loved ones
- Celsius. Deal.
Yesterday my youngest was reading the weather update on the computer.
She said “today will 85, tomorrow 80.”
Then she added in a mock-serious, deep, ominous voice: “Celsius”.
We burst out laughing. Science humor. We are such a geeky family.
I hates L.A. in the Summer. Fairly dry, but too hot. That’s why I moved to the PNW. (Besides, I was sick of the place. There are things I miss, though.)
Cloudy and windy and about 45ºF here right now.
Afternoon, all! It’s been very sunny and warm the last few days, but today there are black rain clouds over the house. Yes, you can tell I’m back in England again. April and May are, of course, the best times to be visiting Scotland because it’s before the dreaded midges start biting.
We came back on the train today, it was a relatively uneventful journey. On weekends and bank holidays (like today) you can buy a standard ticket and pay an extra £15 to upgrade to first class. Not much of an advantage, but the seats are slightly wider with more legroom and you usually get a free cup of tea and a biscuit. Also, the carriages are quieter. So that’s what we did, and it made the journey back that little bit more comfortable.
I have laundry on, and I am explaining to the fuzzbutts who I am and where they know me from.
gt, to answer your question from the last MMP, 'im indoors and the family have elaborate plans to make sure his mum is ok. She said she wanted a week or so to come to terms with things, and after that she will be ready to face the rest of the world. They’ve got a barrage of things for her to do, and they have plans to visit every weekend so that she’s not on her own. It’s a bit strange really, their dad was in a care home because of his Parkinson’s disease for the last 10 months so in a way they have been preparing for his death since then, and it is not quite so much of a shock that he’s not in the house any more because they have had time to adjust to him being elsewhere. The difficult times will be the days when she used to visit him, and particularly Saturdays when she and ‘im indoors’ sister would go together.
I am expecting that he’ll go back up there in a few weeks too, just to visit. And we will all be back together later this year as they plan to scatter his father’s ashes into the river Clyde.
Right, off to make a cup of tea and get on with the laundry.
Hugs to all of those who need them, I’m afraid I have only skimmed again today.
:waves to Nooner:
Well, the trend of family losses in the MMP continues: my grandmother died yesterday. Not unexpected as she’s had Alzheimer’s for years and has been progressively getting worse. And less sad than the death of my godmother last month since we weren’t as close. But still…
The funeral isn’t until the 15th to allow those of us scattered across the country (including a cousin in Alaska) time to make travel arrangements. KT’s going with me for this one - it’s a good chance to see the family, which we may not see all together again. It’s not a close family, and with Grandma gone, there’s little excuse to get together.
My funeral dress, which hadn’t been out of the closet since '05, is certainly getting a workout this spring.
Aw, taxi. I’m sorry. It hurts even when it’s not a surprise.
I’ve been working hard this winter and spring to get all my outdoors work, the planting, cleaning the garage, etc, done before it started getting hot and muggy and downright unpleasant outside. Then this weekend I was working on getting all the home theatre stuff set up so that we would have a place to relax and could enjoy the indoors during summer’s dog days. In this regard we humans haven’t distanced ourselves in habits that far from our evolutionary sibling, the squirrel.
ETA: Sorry to hear that, taxi.
{{{taxi}}} your family and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Even if you weren’t all that close, still she was your grandmother.
I have deboned a chicken, cleaned the back porch and added another bag o’ salt to the ceemint pond. That should be all I have to add for at least three months according to the manual. We shall see.
It’s cloudy and muggy out. Fine with me cause I don’t like cold weather. I am a summer baybee. Bring it on!
((((taxi))))
Two indredibly bad nights. Can’t focsu eyess.
Actually, things are find besides some sleep deprivation. Promise I’ll be around this week. Last week got away from me somehow.
I hereby and forthwith declare a moratorium on anything bad happening to Mumpers and our families!!!
GT, the pastor is probably in her 50s or 60s and I believe that she founded this church. I just don’t think that she’s aware of what’s going on with GM.
I am a little cranky today because my left heel/achilles tendon is hurting. I was thinking that this was just another case of plantar fasciitis, but then I realized that it’s a different kind of hurt. Yuck. I guess it’s a good thing that I waited too long to cancel my health insurance last month like I was planning to.
Also, I’d really like a nap.
It’s not quite summer here in sunny California. It’s sunny, but windy and chilly. Or at least it was yesterday; I haven’t been outside yet.
I got most of my books moved to my parents house yesterday, along with some other assorted stuff. It wasn’t a lot - just enough to lightly fill the trunk, but it’ll help next week. (Oh god, finals are next week. HELP!)
I’ve showered, I’m breakfesting, then I’m going to get my party invites printed* while I pick up my room. I have to run a couple of errands, then get serious about homework, what with this being the last week I can do it (HELP!!!)
- I was going to get them printed as cards at Costco, except when I went to order I noticed it was going to take two weeks to get them. Grargh. So I went and bought blank notecards. I’ll print up the texty stuff and glue the pictures to them.
I’m irritated with a co-worker. He started first thing this morning gleaning gossip from everyone about my friend’s son’s death. My friend can’t stand this guy, but it seems he’s going to the funeral.
My bad thoughts are that he’s only going to get out of work, and it pisses me off. I can’t say any of this out loud, of course, and I really should give co-worker the benefit of the doubt, but I don’t wanna.

Wow - bad things need to stop happening to MMP’ers.
I made it to the UK and have had a fabulous weekend and the best part is only 2 more sleeps until I see mr ems :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
