Summer's here and I'm hot and muggy: a topical MMP

mmmmmms make that one more sleep cause you won’t sleep tomorrow night I’m bettin’.

So, I have learned that tonight we shall meet the gentleman our friend has been seein’ off and on as of late. She called and made me promise to make nice as if I wouldn’t. I guess this means I can’t ask him what his intentions are.

Rebo I hope said co-irker was met with a lot of stony silence. I can’t stand people like him and would be prone to ask him just why he needed to know and how awful he is for asking around like that and trying to gossip about a tragedy like this. GRRRRRRR…

and because I think I forgot: {{{{{{BooFae & 'im indoors}}}}}}}

Rain stopped by early afternoon, but humidity hasn’t gone down much. Lately humidity nauseates me, literally. Not sure why, but I definitely get queasy.

I agree with the moratorium on Mumper family and friend deaths. Enough already!

I survived my first day back at work. There was a momentary panic when I couldn’t find my travel orders and receipts, but they were in the car in a black case under a black seat on a black rug - how could I have missed it?!? :stuck_out_tongue: Anyway, I got my travel claim done, wrote up my trip report, talked to my boss, caught up on emails (33 classified, 7 unclass), and generally tried to get back into the groove. I also learned, to my dismay, that I’m scheduled for yet another exercise, this time at the end of May on the stoopit second shift (10AM-6PM), on a Thurs, Fri, Sat, Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs. Rah. I don’t know why I keep getting tapped for these exercises - it’s not like I need the training. I’ve done so many over the years, I’ve lost count.

Oh well…

Daughter and future-ex got their separation papers signed and notarized. She’s got a lawyer appt on Weds. So the clock has started. She spent the day cleaning and rearranging her apartment - it looks really different. For some weird reason, she likes having her mattress and foundation on the floor. Whatevah.

**FCD **worked about half a day, but it took a lot out of him, so he came home just after lunch. Today was cleaning day, and being hot and muggy here, too (note how I tied into the OP?? ) the house was closed for a/c. And we discovered that the cleaning products she uses give us killer headaches. So I wrote a note to her asking that she use something unscented here. Heck, even ammonia would be better than the sicky-sweet fakey apple scent. Hope she has an alternative - she does good work, and I’d hate to have to replace her over stinky detergents.

That’s all I’ve got for now. But I am ready for Firday. * <sigh>*

Ugh. It’s soooo gross out.

I know I’m whining and I don’t care. Blech. And I refuse to turn the air conditioner on in May. (I might end up being overruled, which would be fine, but I can’t do it).

It’s been a very strange day here, weatherwise. This morning I set up at a flea market it and it was so windy that I was absolutely freezing. I ended up wrapping a piece of my shiny display fabric around myself to try to keep warm. In spite of that, I managed to get a nice warm sunburn while I was there.

Survived irk, eating and watching hockey.

Welcome, Erin!

Nice and warm here, but a bit windy.

Oh, and on my way home, next to the CVS Pharmacy, I see three young men, one holding a large butterfly type net, chasing a rooster.

The rooster was winning.

The mental image of a guy trying to catch a rooster in a butterfly net literally made me chuckle aloud! Thanks for making my evening!

Monday evening LOL

Evenin’ Y’all! Had a very nice dindin tonight. Cheese and wine before dinner, dindin of sallit, homemade lasagna and homemade apple pie even! I told my friend she earned some major Domestic Goddess cred tonight.

We met her gentleman suitor. Very nice man. He is approved. Also, we heard some wedding rehearsal dinner drama. Seems the blushing bride to be had decided that she just had to invite 59 people (including some kids as young as two years old) to the dinner. She got it all explained to her how that would not be. There will be 40 people total at the rehearsal dinner and none of them will be under the age of eighteen. It is being held at a very nice and pricey restaurant and my friend and her ex (the two of them get along well) are footing the bill and if’n I know this place it will be at a minimum thirty bucks a head. Anwho, future DIL and her mother attempted to make a big scene but got put in their place about it quickly and apparently firmly by both friend and the ex who put up a united front.

Have I mentioned lately how glad I am that I never had chidrens and will never have to put up with stuff like this?

It’s rainy out and judging from the rumbles in the distance soon to be stormy. Ima shut down puter and go beddy bye.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

I miss TVMan. :frowning: I’m having a horrible anxiety-filled evening and I’d sleep much better if I were there instead of here.

Sorry about your grandmother, taxi.

Excellent nomination, Bobbio.

Nice to hear from all the infrequent/new Mumpers.

This was a much-needed happy post. Well, more amusing than happy, but still.

I hereby endorse the moratorium on bad things happening to Mumpers and their families and friends.

Had a late church-related meeting tonight. Got home after 9:30.

I’m really tired…guess I should get to bed. Almost forgot that tomorrow is election day - we have a lot to vote on here.

Hugs to all.

ETA: sorry you’re lonely, Sticky.

Say WHAT? Please explain. Thanks.

Well, I’m glad to have lightened the mood of the thread in some small way.

Perhaps I should also mention the license plate I saw the other day?

I had a longish post written but hit the wrong key and it just vanished.

So – everybody who is having deaths in their families, huge hugs, and be gentle to yourselves. Give yourselves time. Tomorrow’s the 17th anniversary of my dad’s, so I’ve been sitting around watching MST and laughing, because that was something we did – normally I don’t really do anything, but this year hit me a bit harder because it was half my life ago. It doesn’t feel that long. But I’m okay. And amused by the bad movies.

I can recommend having a herd of dogs including a black lab, a Vizla, a golden, an Irish Setter, a large black-and-white mutt, a curly-haired little guy, and a dachshund who has no idea how little he is for general mood improvement. No matter how good a mood you are in, if those dogs come running together to greet you, assuming you manage to stay on your feet, your mood will improve. I had to cut Riley, the dachshund, out of the herd when his human showed up. If there hadn’t been somebody who called the others so I could grab him and run inside, it would have been a Very Interesting challenge…only because of sheer enthusiasm and desire for attention on all the other dogs’ parts!

taxi, I’m sorry about your grandmother. Just because it was expected, doesn’t make it hurt less. Hugs to you.

I survived another Monday. Three to go…(assuming my dumb boss doesn’t make me give up THIS RDO too).

It would seem it is the time for bad things. We got home from vacation on Saturday morning. Sunday lunchtime, hubby’s father was admitted to hospital with suspected food poisoning and high blood pressure. A couple of hours later, he had a heart attack and had to have surgery to insert a stent in a blocked artery. He’s in the Cardiac Care Unit now and is recovering nicely, but we could do without the stress on top of the jetlag and other general BS that follows returning from holiday.

In other news, the weather here is as expected - around 89°F/32°C daily highs with overnight lows of 75°F/24°C. Nice now, but it will get a lot worse in the next month.

It’s snowing here tonight, supposed to go to -7C, last week it was 15C, another typical May in Canada.

My condolences, taxi.

::Lends Shawn my “No Snow” signs::

My, looks like the topic has drawn in some new folks. Hi there!

I am up very early this morning as the Old Lady Pug Dog (hereinafter referred to as OLPD) wants food.

Looks like today will be more of the hot.

That’s all I got.

I haven’t heard anything back from the pastor since I sent the email to her fb account (it’s the only contact info that I had for her) and GilaMonster hasn’t said anything about it. Should I tell her that I sent the email?

Wish me luck this morning I agreed to do someone a favor but it’s turning out to be something entirely different than what I had originally agreed to and ethically I don’t feel comfortable doing it. I don’t want to disappoint my friend, but I just can’t do it.
