Just got a response from the pastor. I’m going to have to think about all of this for awhile.

Welcome, n00bz!
I am having a major busy day today. The students are handing in their projects (paper copies and electronic versions) so I have been sorting out receipts and bits of information plus reassuring the poor lambs that they don’t have to trail around campus looking for their supervisors but they can instead leave everything with me. Some of them are hard work!
At lunchtime, I have to go and be photographed. I am not looking forward to that. Why does it have to be on the day when I’m really busy and can’t afford to be wasting time on rubbish like that?
Hugs for **Dotty **and family. Glad he’s doing well.
Off to vote.

What was the response? :dubious:

Haven’t read everything. Promise to do so later. Had an interview yesterday for a 1-year job in Madrid, via a subcontracting chain; had a letter from the agent today asking whether I was willing to work “in company” (you know, like normal people, instead of freelance) and for how much. I asked “where”, thinking that, since he’d sent his letter replying to the convo about the interview, it was either for the final client (would consider) or for his agency (hell NO, I can use size=7 but I can not spell it better). It’s for a construction company in Seville: hell NO! Between my bros, they accumulate about 15y exp in construction, which might be the rottenest theoretically-legal sector in Spain. I’m willing to work for them at freelance rates, but in-company? I think I already said “hell no”.
Orf to have lunch… crossing of appendages for forthcoming jobs on either of the two interviews I’ve had would be appreciated, but don’t cross everything as any answer will take several days to arrive. Wouldn’t want you to get all hobbley on my behalf!
ETA: having skimmed some more, distribute as needed! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
The funeral service was very moving. Before it started, they had a montage of pictures of Chris with his family, to the tune of Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Very tear-inducing!
The service itself was quite informal for a Catholic service. Several of us weren’t Catholic, and the priest kept it kinda laid back and “modern.” (I have no idea what a 'formal" service would be like.) I think I went through about ten Kleenex, as did the daughter of another co-worker who sat with me.
I felt bad for my friend and his family, but afterward he said he felt better. I’m glad he was helped.
I know I’m rambling, so I’ll end here.
(Clothes didn’t matter - there was everything from jeans to khakis to dresses to slacks to suits… I don’t know why I fixated on that.)
Thanks for your help, guys.
Hugs and smooches for all of you!

Not nearly in the same league, but my wife’s business partner (and best friend) fell yesterday and dislocated her shoulder (with some unclear additional complications(?)) – spent many hours at the hospital, is still in pain today, will be in physiotherapy for a few months…
I think it’s really time for a moratorium on MMP deaths and injuries!
**Nava **-- why do you want us to be all cross with you?
Because it’s one of the differences between churches/congregations? Some are OK so long as your ass ain’t showing, some produce these strange monochromatic female parishioners (I always wonder whether their underwear is the same shade of lilac or bottlegreen, too - why do they tend to be horrible colors?), most are somewhere in between.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. We had almost four inches of rain last night with more on the way today. I had to let water out of the pool and no doubt will have to do that a couple of times today. Of course that means the salt level will get all out of whack most likely. Then again if’n I was still usin’ chemicals, they’d get all out of whact too and the salt is much, much cheaper so there’s that.
{{{Dotty}}} prayers and healing thoughts headed out to the FIL
Nava appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for that great job we know you’re going to get.
StickyBuns if it does not feel right then good for you for saying no. I am behind ya especially, considerin’ I am no longer employed due to the same reason.
Rebo it’s because you were brought up to wear proper mourning wear to funerals. I have no problem at all with what someone wears to a funeral, the important thing bein’ the support IMO but I just have to wear ye olde black funeral suit to a funeral. It’s just ingrained and the thought of wearin’ anything else just mortifies me.
BooFae smile purty!
snowbunny I was entertained by a long haired dachshund last night. Oscar is a hoot. He lurves me! My friend, whose home we were at last night, said she doesn’t know which one of us acts more excited to see each other, Oscar or me.
Hey! No fair assaulting me while I’m defenseless (due to all those appendages being crossed, y’know. Makes it hard to fend off attacks!)
Uncrosses arms. Grabs Nava’s arm mid-swing
Hmmm. A replacement for JoeDawg? On the spoiling end, that is; I recognise this is a different owner.
A good friend of my sister’s breeds Portuguese Water dogs and has forever. Her dog is having a litter. Said friend and dog live in NYC, but the breeder is here in CT. She has asked my kids (which means I get to go!!!) to help socialize the new pups when they are born.
I cannot wait. New puppies. OMG.
Mostly that she wasn’t aware of the situation. Also, that there are two sides to every story. Also that I’m an enabler. She’s right on all counts.
Told my friend I couldn’t do it and friend was ok and (hopefully) understood why.
My Wife and I just got back from 2 weeks in Costa Rica only to find… snow. Quite a bit of it. If my neighbor hadn’t plowed our drive while we where gone, we would have been walking.
Be careful what you wish for
Taxi- Sorry about your Gram.
((Dottie))
Enipa- I’m jealous! You must be way up north.
I got the bedroom AC in but my son has to help with ‘Big Daddy’ that goes in the kitchen. It is supposed to be a hot one today too. I 'm staying in my cool bedroom.
Could you just recap what the situation was? I missed last week and this week is too busy to go back to find the relevant posts. Thanks.
Thanks for all the hugs. And return hugs for all of the others who need them. It sounds like it’s been a rough time for a lot of Mumpers and Mumpers’ families and friends. When I called someone at my old church at home to ask for a place to stay, I found out that a couple from church who are my age both lost grandmothers on the same day. That’s sad. Hope their families can schedule the funerals so they can go to both!
Good luck to Nava and swampy on the job front.
Oh and the weather… I never responded to the OP. We’re having a beautiful spring. April was above normal in terms of temperatures, but meaning in the 50s and 60s, which is great for getting outdoors and biking or going for a walk or whatever. This is when Minnesota really shines - if we get spring (unlike last year when winter just dragged on and on), it’s amazingly beautiful.
Dotty, hugs to you and the family. Hope FiL improves soon.
Welp, I’m back here at work. It was daaaaaaammmmmmnnnn hard to come in. But…I did it, so there’s that.
I suppose I should dive into my work now. Not that I want to…
OK, IT’S TIME TO STOP ALL THIS SHIT!
I hereby declare a moratorium on all physical injuries, sudden illnesses and hospitalizations for anyone remotely related to MMPers in any way, shape or form.
Ya hear me up there?!? Don’t make me come up there! <shakes fist at sky>
In other news, something here has seriously freaked me out. I won’t say more, but until I know more, I must be more circumspect. Is that obscure enough for all of you?
BBBobbio not a replacement for JoeDawg. Oscar and I have been friends for five years, ever since my friend first got him. She just always tells me that he seems happier to see me than anybody else who comes to her house. Then again, bein’ as I am a supreme giver of skritches that should be no surprise. I think he thinks it’s all lap and skritches time when I’m there which is pretty much true. Plus, he’s a cute lil’ ol’ booger!
Right now it is not rainin’. This just means it’s takin’ a break. I have let more water out of the pool. The salt level seems to be holdin’ for now.
Such is the excitement of my day so far.
