Someone on Nextdoor challenged me to cite one thing that’s not factual, and to prove it. I asked why I should waste my time, as True Believers don’t accept proof. The person replied she’ll continue to read ‘because it’s factual’.
Happy new week Mumpers. Yes, I am only now joining. I am a bad, bad, bad Mumper.
My buyer’s made an escrow deposit so I guess that’s good news. Still crippled but maybe a bit of improvement. Inspection was yesterday and he showed up with a contractor in tow. He is also buying another house here in the Keys that is uninhabitable, thus the long closing period. The escrow deposit seals the deal. I am again looking at Perry Fl as Ocala is too peoply and the space coast is too peoply and too expensive for my tastes. I can have twice the house in Perry vice Palm Bay. Ocala is too peoply. I’ve been eyeing a gorgeous home in Perry that was out of my price range for full cash, but barely, so agent is going to see if my best and highest is accepted tomorrow by noon. I’ve been looking and coming back to this house over and over. It’s meant to be. Or not. Appropriate and inappropriate things crossed. The reason for Perry is that was my late husband’s name and the clincher is it was built in the year he and his twin was born. I know it’s silly but are signs. I’ve been eyeing this particular house for months before I actually decided to sell.
IMO this is the one. So I’ve offered full cash that owners have regretted turning down according to the local agent. It’s 2114 sq ft 3/2 with all my needs i.e. privacy fence yard, no carpet, city water plus it’s a corner lot and 1/3 acre. BuddyBoy don’t know it yet but he’s gonna have a big yard and I’m gonna rescue him a sister or brother. My questions to agent were; is there a grocery store, a furniture store amd a dog pound. Yes, there is a Walmart closer than Outer Space. Not here. So, thats my life in a nutshell. Did I mention I’m still crippled? Ankle is Fubar Even with RICE; Rest, ice, compression, elevation. I am not seeing a huge difference yet. So, yeah I have not read but will. Hope everyone is healthy, happy and well. Once I read I’ll be back.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I ended up working a 12 hour shift yesterday(shorthanded, Corporate company, and the HazMat guy needed help), so read all, retained little.
: crosses appropriate and inappropriate appendages for Butters
and {{{{hugs}}} for the ankle
When my daughter was in kindergarten, so just learning to spell, I talked to her teacher and asked if I should be proofreading and helping her with spelling on her homework (such as it was.) The teacher said no, they were teaching “Whole Language” and they wanted the kids to get their ideas on paper as best as they could. Spelling would come later. HAH! My daughter can’t spell for crap, and I blame this stoopit approach.
The Montessori school where Roxy goes teaches phonics. I learned phonics and I’m a pretty good speller, so I tend to favor that method. We shall see how the child does. This endeth my mini-rant on spelling and phonics.
As for junk mail, it never makes it into the house. Our recycle can is right next to the door between the garage and the kitchen, so as I return from the mailbox, it’s very handy… ![]()
{{{Butters}}} - so sorry about the sucky ankle! Watching my sweetie getting around, I can just imagine what you’re dealing with. Meanwhile, I’ll cross everything I can that you get the house you want. It sounds perfect! And your reasoning for wanting to live there is perfectly logical.
I woke a bit before 5 and decided to just get up. So I’ve done my morning requirements and now I’m just chilling in front of my machine until I have to fetch young Sir Tobias. (That kid needs a proper nickname!) I hope today’s as easy as Tuesday was - I especially liked the nice long nap where I was “forced” to hold him while he slept and I had to read for 2 anna half hours.
Altho he does need to learn to sleep in his bed. We’ll get there.
FCD has therapy tomorrow at 10, so I’ll drop him off, then pick up Toby from his dad before he goes to work. That way I don’t have to entertain the baby in the car for an hour. We’ll do that a couple of times next week, after which all of FCD’s appointments are later in the afternoon. Plus SIL is supposed to have his knee surgery on the 25th, so he won’t be tending his spawn for a bit after that anyway.
Just a little bragging - this week, I’ve gone back to tracking my food intake and getting back to eating right, and I’ve shed a few lbs. I know early on it’s pretty much water weight, but it’s encouraging, which I need. A good chunk of the end of 2021, I overindulged, so I’m going thru sweets withdrawal and it’s really testing my willpower. But so far, so good. Pretty soon, the jeans that have gotten tight will fit properly again! I hope…
Happy Thursday!!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a brisk 5C/36F outside and very sunny which makes a nice change from the last few dreary grey days. I went to the pub with my friends last night which was good, the place was a bit busier than usual and it’s good to see people going out a bit.
This morning’s excitement was a vet visit for Ophelia, she needed a blood test so I had to remove all the food yesterday evening. She and Shadow weren’t bothered last night, Whisper was unhappy so I gave him a sneaky pouch of food when I got home from the pub. They were all stalking me this morning, I kept the curtains closed and stayed in bed as long as possible to convince them it was still sleepy-time and not foody-time…but they were not fooled. I eventually scuttled out of the house with one cat just after 9am, and left 'im indoors to feed the other two.
Vet visit went well and I was home in good time. Let Ophelia out of her carrier and she headed straight for the nearest bowl of biscuits. I put some wet food down as well and she soon transferred her attentions to her real favourite. I should have results from the vet in 24-48hrs and we’ll know what steps to take next. She has a racing heart, but the vet said she couldn’t detect a mass of any sort so hopefully the blood test will tell us more.
Other than that, I’s got nuttin’…apart from irk and that’s just irksome.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 45 Amurrkin out and mostly clear (partly murky?) with a predicted high of 66 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. No big items on today’s agenda. We shall hone our sloth and nappage skills. Sup shall be chili/cheese/onion/slaw dawgs and oven fries. Fartfest to follow.
Butters sorry the ankle is still ailin’ ya. Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the house in Perry. Your reasons for wantin’ the house are perfectly logical.
BooFae hope all comes out well for Ophelia. She wanted food, so maybe that’s a good sign.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Morning all. E-mail is still down and have heard nothing from the call-in center, so I’ll try their on-line help desk and see if I can get my e-mail back. Second time in a month this has happened and I’m really beginning to get irritated with them. Otherwise another day without rain and temperatures in the 50’s, so that at least is going well.
Butters, count me among those hoping the house sellers take your offer, sounds like the perfect place. And good vibes for the ankle.
Boo Fae, hope the Vet report is good news for Ophelia.
OK, need to scrounge for sustenance. Usually have Instant Breakfast (just add milk) but the 1/2 gallon that was supposed to be good to 15 January went bad yesterday so I’m milkless.
Take care all.
Toby done good. I brought him in and strapped him in his swing with the music playing so I could bring in his stuff, run to the bathroom, etc, and he fell asleep. Yay for morning snoozes! When he gets up, I’ll play with him and keep him awake till he wants to eat - maybe around 9 or 9:30. After that, I may be able to settle in for a read or two while he sleeps on me again, unless I can get him to sleep by himself. Yeah. Right.
sheesh - kids…
Good morning everyone.
It’s currently 45 degrees and raining.
I had back to back meetings from 7:00 through 12:00 yesterday. Every single meeting ran over so I would have to send a little note to the next meeting arranger explaining I would be a few minutes late in hopes the current meeting would end. When the meetings didn’t, I would have to tell them all that I had to drop for another meeting. Meanwhile, the emails and PMS were rolling in fast and furious and I was responding to those too. Good grief!
My first meeting starts at 6:00 am today and they all run pretty much back to back until after two today. So, it’ll be another crazy day. I also have to pick up med refills for Polar and track my personal inbox to see if our HMO sent a prescription to the portal yet so I can pursue getting CPAP on my own for my husband. We thought we got his to limp along again, but it keeps shutting off. No sleep makes my husband really, really cranky and unreasonable. I had to take the phone away from him during his telephone consult to talk to the sleep tech because my husband lost all patience when he found out how long it could possibly take to get a replacement. There is apparently a shortage because of the sleep machine recalls. So, I checked the secure portal this morning, and the referral letter to the DME company they contract with was there, but not the actual prescription so I could try and obtain a prescription through another company on my own.
I am exhausted. I don’t sleep well either, it’s made worse by his tossing and turning and then I get to deal with someone who overreacts to everything that is the least little bit difficult. Sigh.
Butters, I hope you get the house! I’m sorry your ankle is still bothering you.
I hope the news is good for Ophelia, Boo Fae.
I hope your email woes are sorted soon, metal mouse.
Hope you all have a good day!
So the ice maker hose sprung a leak, the tumbler in the front door lock popped out, The SSLAWs kept going down, and the power went out at work. And there’s gonna be ice and wind on Sunday. I should buy a lottery ticket, I think I used up 2000% of my RDA of bad luck today.

{{{{Taters}}}}
Well, that was an busted morning.
Chatted on-line with a Customer Rep for my e-mail server, and it turns out the problem is with Firefox, my browser, one of their newer updates screwed up the webmail site for me. Tried it with Edge and it opened the E-mail just fine. They’re supposedly working with Firefox to solve it, hope they do, don;t want to have to transfer all my saved pages/passwords to another browser.
Then went and got passport photos taken (does anybody ever look good in them?) and went down to get a new passport ordered, but the agent was out today (sick?), so I had to pass as I left all the alternative addresses at home. Then decided to stop at Best Buy and shop for a phone (looks like I’l have to join the 21st Century), but it was 10:15am and they don’t open now until 11am…
Did get a Jimmy John’s sub out of the deal, so not completely bad.
doggio, better luck for the both of us tomorrow.
Taters, good grief, how are you expected to get your work done with all the meetings?
FCM, may you and Toby remain in synch.
OK, this time I really will put the dishes away from the dishwasher. All y’all take care.
Happy Thorsday!
It’s a sun shiny 43 degrees outside.
MetalMouse I used FireFox for years and loved it, but something screwed up somewhere so I switched to Chrome.
Butters hope all works out the way you want re the move.
After this last week, my next house is going to be one floor only.
There are sublingual doses (at least, in my state - cannabis laws are a byzantine patchwork) that can be even more helpful.
But yes, in general, THC and CBD (which are different) both help tremendously with nausea.
The landlord situation is TBD. I haven’t been evicted, but details after that point are still being determined.
Butters I hope the house works out. I shall keep my available appendages crossed.
BooFae Best wishes to Ophelia and good on ya for catching her. The last two appointments I had for Panda she crawled into the couch and I couldn’t get her there. Little stinker.
Moomm babies are so demanding! Good thing they’re so cute ![]()
Was this all at work? I hope? Might as well get the lottery ticket though. Can’t win if you don’t play or something like that.
Metal Mouse all of this leaving the house stuff is so foreign to me. Stay safe! I’m a worrier. ![]()
Fingers and other appendages crossed for you as well. Are they allowed to do spot inspections in your state? Around here they have to give 24 hour written notice. Maybe you’ve got some protection if they’re in violation of something like that. {{{hugs}}}
News just reported today is the 40th anniversary of the Air Florida crash in the Potomac by the 14th St bridge. I was on the far end of that bridge when the plane hit. Had I left work 30 minutes later, it could have been worse for me…
The storm was so bad, my normal 45 minute commute took 5 hours. Of course, that’s nothing compared to the loss if life. It was a terrible day.
Keeping appendages crossed for the house butters.
Hope everything checks out for Ophelia BooFae.
{{{doggio}}} May the purchase of a lottery ticket change your luck.
metal mouse, might I suggest a Samsung A series phone? It’s not a high dollar one (my A10 was ~$210 a couple of years ago), but a good, basic android model (once you’re equipped with the phone, you won’t need your Garmin). If you feel the need to go totally old fart, a Jitterbug may be for you.
shoe, I hope that everything works out on the housing front.
Irked and am home for the weekend. I will take the car in to the dealership tomorrow, along with the usual Friday chores. Saturday is supposed to be cold and Sunday, we’re in for more snow. I’m thinking maybe haluski for the weekend cooking.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Somehow, that never seems to work for us either. I hope the news is good.
Butters I hope your house selling and buying proceed smoothly. Should you choose to use a cane temporarily, remember that the cane moves with the injured limb. If you are inspired, you can get glittery temporary skin tattoos at the dollar store and bling your cane up.
Ohhhh, is that my problem? I knew that Firefox was causing me grief so I fired it which is a bit of a pain because now I need to teach my new browser all my passwords and bookmarks. I didn’t have problems accessing my email, but I couldn’t open any webpages that I hadn’t already visited in the past. I chase a lot of internet rabbits, I need to be able to roam the web freely.
That kinda sucks. Keeping you waiting about such an important to you decision is actually pretty rude. If you have to deal with a situation, you need to know ASAP, not the day you have to deal with it.
I picked up surplus produce today and got a tub of Trader Joe’s Zhoung Sauce. Ingredients were cilantro, canola oil, jalapeno peppers, chili flakes, garlic, cardamon, salt and cumin seed. IMHO, it tasted like soapy jalapenos but hubs thought it was pretty good stuff. We really like getting to try things we wouldn’t buy. I don’t think that we will every buy another tub, but sometimes we do buy things we try from the boxes.
At lunch, I bragged to my BFF that I had four tickets to tRump’s rally this weekend and she felt left out so she got four tickets too. Now we can each stand up an-ex president four times in one day. We know its petty and juvenile but that’s just how we roll.
Currently, it’s 58F and the sky is that beautiful periwinkle color you see just before full dark.
Howdy Y’all! Our sloth skills were greatly enhanced today. Gotta keep up our status as world class sloths after all! Outside of makin’, eatin’, and cleanin’ up after sup we have done as next to nuttin’ as possible. The fartfest has been epic, however.
The lock and ice maker was at home, they fixed it today. Good thing, I’d hate to think my home security was entirely dependent on a geriatric terrier.
I’m getting tired of the replies to my post on Nextdoor about the Right-wing propaganda. Mostly, it’s ‘bird cage’, ‘cat litter’, ‘recycling’ comments, and ‘FREEDOM OF SPEECH!’ comments.
