Sunrise or sunset in the MMP?

As a Nextdoor lead, I would have shut that shit down starting with your post. Of course, there would not have been a reason to do so because there would have not been any of those stupid FREEDUM OF SPEECH comments around for you to complain about. There is NO obligation for privately funded websites to allow a free for all and I won’t put up with it. If someone wants to go play in the pigsty, go to facebook or whatever it’s called nowadays.

Nextdoor is a place to look for a lost dog, ask about who’s been knocking at their door, or where to find a local handiman. It is NOT a place to yell about politics or Covid (which is also politics).

I’m sorry if I sounded a little hot under the collar over this. I’ve been stomping and kicking a bunch since Covid-O arrived.

Our friend put a deposit down on his new digs today. I think that he will be much happier and healthier when he’s not living in a moldy ammonia fog. It’s a non-smoking facility and he would have to walk to the elevator, go out the back door and walk 100 ft to the smoking area. He thinks it might be time to quit using tobacco because that will be too much and he knows that he will get kicked out without his deposits if he gets caught smoking inside the building. I’m pretty sure this will help his breathing problems nearly as much as not living in the litter funk.

I ran out of thread for my current project which is irritating. The designer must have been the neatest, cheapest stitcher ever because I have to order a new skein and I’m not really sure that just one will be enough.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. T-48 hours to :grimacing:SNOWPOCALYPSE :grimacing:
Also there is rhythmic hum coming from upstairs above my bedroom. Since all the HVAC and laundry stuff is on the other end of the building, I can only assume the neighbor’s have build a full scale replica of a ship’s engine, and are running it in the bathroom. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

My reply to those folks is to quote the world’s greatest swordsman:
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Speaking of which, somebody saw a ROUS* the other day. Blueberry the Cat is slacking off.

*Rodent of Usual Size

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 64 and N.O.S. for the day. I shall go over to the church house this mornin’ to deal with some church janitor JW and other duties. One more week and I am through with the JW duties! The “other” stuff is Verger related so I shall continue in those duties. Since I am a retired drain on society and the other Verger is not, I said I would do those pre-service things Vergers do each week. After all one cannot be a sloth all the time, I suppose. We shall swipe The Genera’ls Sup.

doggio I gather buildin’ maintenance must be pretty good if’n they got right on over there to fix the lock and the ice maker.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and oh so much bother, I suppose I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the public attire. Woe!

Happy Firday Y’all!

We might see a few flakes Sunday night, but than around midnight, it’s supposed to start warming up and turn to rain. Even the weather guesser said don’t bother shoveling - it’ll all be washed away overnight. Sounds like a plan to me!

FCD has therapy at 10, so I’ll drop him off, then drive down to pick up the baby. If I’ve got enough time, I’ll try the car wash before returning to the therapy place. My poor sweetie is in a lot of pain, but for some reason I do not understand, he refuses to take any pain meds. I give up. I merely ask him what he wants and let it go at that. It beats getting into an argument of why he’s being so … whatever…

I swear, he takes after his mother in this way. She “saves” meds, just in case she’ll need them later. She never finishes her courses of antibiotics or pain meds. And she’ll randomly halve her doses to “save” meds. I’m amazed she’s not in worse shape.

Speaking of health stuff, BIL is in the hospital with COVID. He’s the one who ignored his diabetes for years and now he’s on dialysis because he’s not eligible for a transplant. He’s also got Parkinson’s and some heart issues. I think he’ll be 63 in April if he survives. I know I sound cold - I’ve never particularly liked him, but I really hate that he’s putting his wife and parents thru this. All he had to do was stop inhaling so much food, but that was too hard. And it was everyone else’s fault anyway. Wah wah wah. (Yeah, there’s lots more to it, but I’m not going into it.) If this is the end, I hope it’s quick for everyone’s sake.

Rant over.

So the therapy is the only biggie on today’s agenda. And once I return Toby at 2:30, I won’t have him again till Weds, so maybe I can get some chores done around here. I’ll be glad when he’s a little older and can entertain himself. This whole eat-sleep-poop routine gets old fast! Altho he is starting to respond to me occasionally with a real smile, so I guess he’s a keeper.

Anyway, just another day in paradise. Happy Thursday!!

Sorry about the BIL Mooooooom. I have a few people in my family like that too.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels / sheets in the wash and a load of jeans on deck. In a minute, I’ll get my carcass up to begin the weekly housecleaning.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good grief - I’m living in the past… HAPPY FIRDAY!!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 6C/38F and sunny outside. It was only 1C at 9am when I ventured out to the gym, and it was foggy as well. We had quite a sharp frost overnight so I had to de-ice the car before I went anywhere, I think the weather must have discouraged other people as the gym’s fancy new app said there were only 7 people in the building, and I had a 1-1 class as everyone else had cancelled for BodyPump. Not a problem for me, I enjoyed it and had a good natter with the instructor.

No news on Ophelia yet, the vet rang yesterday lunchtime but I didn’t have the phone with me, and 'im indoors couldn’t work out how to answer it. I tried to call back but the vet had left and was going to one of their other surgeries, tried there and was told she didn’t start until 4pm, rang again later but she was already consulting by then. Rang the main surgery this morning and still haven’t managed to get hold of her. If it was desperately serious, someone else would have called on her behalf, so I will wait to hear from her. Ophelia is not sick, she’s old and has had a heart murmur for several years that has never required treatment. She’s lost weight in the last couple of years, but she’s fairly inactive and doesn’t eat a massive amount, guess she doesn’t need the energy.

Mooooom sorry to hear about the BIL, it’s not cold to think that way about someone who neglects their health so much and blames everyone around them for their own situation. Usually there’s little you can do for them, apart from try to support the people around them instead.

shoe hope the living situation gets resolved soon, and they decide you and the ratties make excellent tenants.

doggio appendages crossed that the snowpocalyse passes you by! Are the neighbours building an ark?

Right…back to irk for a few hours before I can legitimately play on t’intertoobz!

Morning all. 35F heading for 54F today, but rain is coming late Saturday and it’ll drop temperatures enough that there is a chance of snow on Sunday. Oh joy.

Will try again to order a new passport, this time I’ll have a list of two other places I can go to if necessary to file the paperwork. Still have the feeling that the old one will show up about 2 days afterwards, but it’s already been cancelled from the paperwork I sent in earlier. Such is life.

Boo fae, hope they can work Ophelia in soon.

FCM, some people are stubborn about taking care of themselves (I can be that way, but not to BIL’s extent). Hope he gets better but… And remember, like Toby, if we live long enough, we end our days like we started them…eat, sleep and poop. And just re-read the part about you and the Air Florida crash :astonished:

swampy, every time I see the term Verger I am reminded of the short story "The Verger by Somerset Maugham. Take care.

doggio, I think the person you quoted was the second greatest swordsman (although he did get some memorable lines).

OK, onward into the morning. Need to bathe and shave today (I am growing my beard back, going for the full Civil War General look this time; will take awhile).

Good Firday, y’all.

Unknown, everything else I access is ok, no problem with Firefox, so firing it is not an option yet, like you say I have too many passwords and stuff to change over. We’ll see what happens. And hope friend can kick the smoking habit.

red, thanks for the suggestion. Mostly as long as it can read/show those inkblots that transmit info to systems I should be OK. Might not even get a phone number with it, they seem to do a lot of stuff even without calling…

Cinnamon crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. The cancer was too bad, so I had to make the decision to call it. The vet was really kind, and I stayed with him to the end. This sucks. (Screw you Discourse, that is a legit sentence.) Fortunately, I have a lot of crap to do at work, figuring out other people’s problems to keep my mind off of it.

But I do think I’ll have some serious drinking to do later today.

(((VanGo))) Having made the same decision more times than I care to remember, I know what you’re going thru. But you know you did what was best for Cinnamon.

Got sent home early due to budget cuts, but I’ll still finish the week with lots of hours. I did an Aldi run on the way home. Now much like Arby’s, We have the meats.

You’re hanging with my coworkers?
And sorry about the BIL. I’m in the same boat. My antivax not gonna wear a mask on a plane in a pandemic nutter Aunt Mary has COVID now.

Well, Mr. Donner in 105 did invite me to dinner party on Sunday.

Something like this?

{{{{VanGo}}}}}
Cancer sucks. Losing a pup sucks. :frowning:

Happy Firday!

It’s a cloudy 36 degrees outside, supposed to get up into the mid 40s today before sliding back down into freezing temps.
I should get some groceries today, but it can wait until tomorrow.

{{{VanGo and Cinnamon}}}
Such a hard time, I’m sorry.

Good morning everyone.

I am so sorry about Cinnamon, Paint. Hugs to you.

I’m sorry about your BiL, FCM. I understand that it’s hard to muster any sympathy toward a person like that too.

I’m also sorry about your aunt, doggio.

It’s foggy and chilly. I woke up several times overnight but rolled out of bed at 4:45. I’ve been busy with the internet and APAP hunting most of the morning. I also cleaned up the kitchen.

I need to hop in the shower in the next little bit and head out to pick up Polar’s prescription. I asked them to double it because going back every 20 days is a serious PITA.

I’m debating dropping by Safeway after I pick up Polar’s prescription because I need laundry detergent and a couple of other cleaning type items. My husband usually does the grocery shopping now, but he always forgets about stuff like that. He said he was going to go tomorrow, but I can’t rely on that because he usually ends up pushing it out several days more.

A couple more puzzles arrived via Amazon this week, so I might work on one of those. The kids were going to come this weekend, but since my son’s roommate had/has(?) COVID, we canceled. My son didn’t really get sick, but I would rather he quarantine the full time, take the test, and then let us know. He was talking about taking the test and coming up this weekend if clear, but the husband put the kibosh on that. My son’s roommate is a stereotypical gun-waving/drunk-ass FREEDUMB nutcase and thinks COVID is a sham. I know my son wants to move, but it’s easier said than done. So, unreasonably my husband is sort of pissed at my son because of his roommate. He stated he’s often wondered how long it was before he was exposed and possibly exposed all of the rest of us when he visited. It’s completely unreasonable to be angry with my son, but there you have it. We had a bit of a dust-up over that a couple of days ago. I’m so over this BS.

Well, time to clean up and get Polar’s meds. Safeway and MudBay will also be on the agenda.

I’m home again. Toby started fussing on the way here - SIL told me he’d be ready to eat. So he snarfed down 4oz of formula, then crashed. I was able to eat and load and start the dishwasher, and make FCD his lunch. But the nap was short so I need to entertain the kidlet for a while…

Week’s finally over, so I’m parked on the couch with some Lagavulin.

Due to various reasons, I changed to a new gyn a year ago. After she finally got my records from the previous doctor, she decided to do an ultrasound which shows that the 6 cm cyst, which was first noticed in 2014, is still there. She wants me to see a specialist, so I should get a notice from the hospital.

Hubby developed some sort of weird upper back pain, which is starting to subside, after 24 hours. Can’t have normal back pain, it seems.

Should make a grocery list for tomorrow, but I have no interest in cooking, or figuring out what to cook. For this reason we had Indian food delivered for lunch, with enough for 2 (or 3) more meals.

Sorry to hear about Cinnamon. {{{ VanGo and Cinnamon }}}

And some serious being {{{{{{ VanGo }}}}}}. Enjoy the memories and tell us lots of them.

:crying_cat_face: :crying_cat_face: :crying_cat_face: Cinnamon :crying_cat_face: :crying_cat_face: :crying_cat_face:

It’s official, winter is over here in Orygun. I had studded tires installed on the truck yesterday, so they’ll be no more ice on the roads until the state makes me take them back off.

There’s plenty more to tell, but no time to tell it. Maybe tomorrow.

Later.

I have read bits and retained little. There is lots of pain here, and I wish I could take it away. Now I have to go pick up shattered pieces of me. And possibly, clean the bathroom.

I decided to get rid of the genealogy books I’ve purchased over the years. Took them all to UPS and donated them to the Oregon Genealogy Society. So that part of my life is pretty much done. It all lives online for descendants to ponder at will.

Sold my Makita plate joiner today. Still a lot of things to get rid of in the next eight months, though. My wife is donating all of her Native American art and history books to the Grand Ronde Reservation Library; probably 150 books that we won’t have to ship. I’m not having much luck with my Alaska library. I’ve sold three books on Ebay, but the demand just isn’t there.
