Supernatural Season 8 Ongoing discussion(spoilers as it airs)

Too easy to peg the fairy’s master, it had to be that guy, he was such a face smackable dick the whole ep, but overall a really fun ep.

Lots of good lines.
“Kids these days with their texting and their murder.”

I also liked how the nerd instantly pegged their ID’s were fake.

I did enjoy that bit.

I liked this episode a lot, but something overall keeps nagging at me; it’s like Sam and Dean totally forgot everything that happened to them in previous seasons. I mean, Dean goes on about how Sam got a chance at happiness and abandoned the life and all that, and how he never had that option, but HELLO, what about a year with Lisa and Ben and no monster hunting? Of course Dean knows what it’s like to get a taste of normal life! How easy would it have been for Sam to throw that back in Dean’s face whenever he took him to task for dropping out of hunting?

That aside, I agree that this season has been much better than the majority of the last couple of seasons. I never really got into the Leviathan thing, and the Eve storyline just seemed like this huge season-ling Red Herring.

My take on it was that Dean was saying he knew from experience that going for a normal life won’t work, thanks to the Lisa/Ben arc. But they’ve been repeating this forever - Sam always wants to quit and always gets pulled back in.

Tonight’s episode was one of the best episodes in a really long time. They did a great job bringing in Henry Winchester and making everything feel real. Loved it and wish Henry would have continued on the show.

Oh, and it is still sounding good for a season 9.

Next week’s sounds good too.

I would REALLY have loved to learn more about the Men of Letters. I would have enjoyed seeing that more than the banished-to-limbo thing. It really ties the previous season’s plots together.

Yeah, we’ll see. Sometimes the cool looking ones are mediocre. I had high hopes for the one with Lincoln and Paris Hilton and it was only OK.

Next week’s is “Everybody Hates Hitler”. I hope it’s as good as it could be.

I was rewatching some of the previous seasons’ episodes lately, and I made a mental list of characters that I think would be good to see again sometime before the show finally does end for good:

Jesse the (almost) antichrist, just to find out what happened to the kid, if nothing else.

Det. Diana Ballard (Linda Blair from the “Dana Schulps” episode). Would be nice to see her call on the boys for aid, or vice versa.

Missouri Mosely! She came on like the Oracle in the Matrix in that first season, what happened to her?

And finally: They gotta find a way to get Gabriel back! I miss that guy…

It made sense, it brought the mythology together. Dean and Sam stopped brooding at each other for a second and brooded at other people. The characters acted, um, in character. It’s too bad Henry didn’t have a slightly longer arc, (Sam Campbell was around enough to die at least twice) but all in all, this was the best episode in quite a while.

Ooh, one more face from that past that I’d like to see make a return visit: Sarah Blake, from the “Provenance” episode. Not so much because she and Sam almost had a thing, but because the character seemed the type that would maybe pursue the Hunter’s path, now that she knows that ghosts, et al, are real and need huntin’. Plus, Taylor Cole is really easy on the eyes…

[It got officially renewed for season 9 today.

Yay!](VAMPIRE DIARIES, SUPERNATURAL & ARROW All Returning To CW Next Season!!)

If they had made the announcement three months ago, I would have been indifferent at best; however, it’s been such a good season so far that I’ll be happy to see them continue in the same groove.

Incidentally, I thought the Golem episode was terrific, although I still haven’t figured out what “Yerachumbee” is supposed to mean.

Is that the thing the Golem said? I guess it meant “write your name on this piece of paper” or something.

But in what language? If it was Hebrew or Aramaic like they said, I should understand it.

According to closed captioning it’s “yifalchunbee” Does that mean anything?

Other than the language issue - it was still a pretty good episode. Now that they’ve gotten away from their tortured love interests, the season is shaping up pretty well.

OK, so after wasting half my morning on Google (there is a severe dearth of Aramaic dictionaries on the web), it seems as though it translates to “(they will) worship/perform a ritual in me”. I think. Aramaic is not exactly my native tongue.
