Survivor 10/30

To be fair to Osten, though, everyone handles stress differently. He could–no, probably is–a wimp, but he also could have been suffering from pain that just wasn’t easily apparent.

He has GOT to be embarrassed, though. From jump the guy was inept. Never once did he show the camera a good side. He can’t be feeling good about that, not matter how nonchalant he comes across in interviews.

He isn’t the only roided-up looking person who just couldn’t cut it. Remember that Asian kid from a couple of seasons ago who was so inept he couldn’t walk a balance beam? Just goes to show that you can’t predict winners based on looks.

Do you have a cite for this, elf, or is this just an assumption on your part?

For all we know, Burnett kept the Outcasts at an alternate camp under the same conditions as the other two tribes. Jeff stated that they had been subsisting on a minimal diet of fruit and small amounts of protein. That sounds like the same diet the Drakes are eating, and that the Morgans could be eating if they had a clue about fishing and foraging.

I loved this episode and thought this was a great way to keep Survivor fresh. Since Survivor: Africa, the problem with the show was how to sabotage the alliances to keep it from being predictable after the merge. In Africa, Burnett tried the tribal switch, but that didn’t really work. In Marquesas, the coconut chopping challenge ripped the cover off the Gang of Four alliance, and they all got Pagonged right away. But that just led to the Neleh-Paschall alliance controlling the game. In Thailand, the fake merge was interesting, but really didn’t do anything but get rid of Shii Ann early, and give the Brian-Clay-Helen alliance the upper hand. Amazon was the most interesting season since Australia, to me, because post-merge alliances were constantly shifting.

Now, with this new twist, no alliance is safe after the merge (which I predict happens immediately after the Outcasts are voted in - the final nine have to be living and working as one tribe in order for all members of the jury to be exposed to the final two). The two Outcasts have a natural alliance. Jon may need to find himself a new one right away. We have no idea what is really going on in Morgan, except that Andrew and Ryan O. seem to be pretty tight. So from my perspective, after the merge, it truly will be anyone’s game.

I agree with Jadis, the Outcasts are no less deserving of being in the game than the other tribe members. Unlike previous seasons, none of these early bootees did anything deserving of being voted off. They weren’t lazy or weak or obnoxious. They just happened to not get into the strongest alliances right away.

And any goodwill that Andrew earned after last week’s IC was totally lost after his arrogant and self-righteous tirade regarding the Outcasts. I hope he’s voted off next week so that he doesn’t end up on the jury. He’s way more arrogant than even Roger in the Amazon.

Sorry, but I would agree with Savage’s statements of them not deserving to be given a second chance…

This game, when it was predictable, allowed the winners to jockey for the million dollars but to give second chances to those ousted early seems unfair and unwarranted. If you got the boot and won the million dollars, that isn’t fair for those who didn’t get booted out and most likely not given a second chance.

Only way I would disagree with Savage is the bootee’s from now on got a second chance like the Outcasts did, then all would be fair. If those that get booted out from now and till end game don’t get the second chance, it ain’t really a fairshake.

The Outcasts don’t deserve to be back, they didn’t play the game. I’m not saying they didn’t contribute, or work hard, I’m sayin they didn’t play the game well enough. Which means forming alliances/ being with the “in-crowd”. Sounds high-schoolish but they don’t deserve to be back.

with all that said, I really do like the twist. they managed to get things fresh and with many possibilities of politics.

I’m totally glad that Osten got out. And I was even more excited that this loser gave up. It was a fitting end to this pathetic survivor contestant. He did NOT deserve to be there, and I bet MBurnett regrets having the quitter on the island. He could’ve chosen probably one million other people that would’ve stuck through adversity and at least give a concerted effort in staying in the game.

Just wondering how this voting someone back in is going to work out… all the possibilities, but I think the Outcasts might chose as a group who can win it all, and they share in the $1,000,000 if an Outcast ends up winning it all. I think that is the only reasonable method in trying to chose the best player who they would think would be best fit for the Outcasts as a group.

I think I remember seeing Skinny Ryan on Letterman with Rupert Jee in the Hello Deli and Dave asked him if he won any money. Skinny Ryan replied “I don’t know, yet”… So things may be more interesting than we might think.

Can’t wait till the next episode, although I hated the to be continued BS they pulled on us. it should’ve been an extended episode…

god, i can’t speel… hehe

choose and not chose.

Making an agreement to share the $1,000,000 is against the rules.

Jon’s comment when he held up his parchment to the camera after he voted off Shawn, what a dweeb!

Some of the blame for Osten’s demise should be laid on the producers(screeners??) Thousands of people try out for the spots, few are chosen. He must have acted differently to get on the show. What was he expecting, a spa?

Iknow that there is an agreement, but this agreement might be eliminated in order to allow the Outcasts to choose the best player they think can get them the win… either that or there will be a massive fight in who gets in the game again.

I don’t think it would be an agreement per se but a rule imposed my the producers so that the Outcasts choose wisely. Now that’d be fun!

eenerms, I thought Jon’s comment was hilarious. A true moment of comedy. (I honestly wish they hadn’t bleeped it. All this talk about allowing the f-bomb to drop, I wish they would’ve let it slide here)

Another plea to those of you who go to other websites, watch TV talk shows, listen to radio interviews, etc. Some of us intentionally avoid all of the above because we don’t want to know what’s going to happen. So could those of you who do, please stop posting things you heard about, saw, or read anywhere other than on the show.

I still want to know how Ti’s breasts can be so big and bouncy while everyone else’s are now down to their knees. And if it’s because they’re fake, I hope one deflates before this is all over.

I want to know what the hell Darrah is saying half the time she’s interviewed. There’s a lass who needs subtitles.

I agree Quack. That was Jonny Pinhead’s only funny moment as far as I’ve seen…and he wasn’t joking. I can only hope I have more opportunities to laugh at that poor mar-oooon before he is voted off in one last humiliating scene. In my dreams it involves depantsing and people pointing and laughing.
Puppetmaster, my ass.

How can these people stand to watch themselves?

And he brought a lot of that on himself. He traded all his clothes except his shorts for food (or whatever) in the village. WTF was he thinking? He was going to have to survive for 39 days, in his freaking shorts. Did he really think that was possible?
And you know, if you hate being outside, you hate bugs and animals, and can’t swim - why the hell would you even apply to be on Survivor? I just don’t get it.
Andrew’s comments about Lil and Skinny Ryan really pissed me off, about them having no right to be on “his” beach. They have more right than Osten. They were much more prepared for the game than he was.

Best Survivor moment so far:
That bit with the pelican. Osten was sharpening the machete, glaring at it menacingly, and Ryan just picked it up gently and walked away with it. Bad Scary Pelican! :wally

I’m not buying it AT ALL!! I think that whole challenge was rigged so the Outkasts would win. And I don’t like it one bit.

My bad, but there weren’t any spoilers on my part, just pure speculation. My guesses are just guesses. Nothing more and nothing less.

Yeah, that was rather pompous of him, but you know, I kind of agree with him. A few people have already mentioned this, but I’ll just say it again. It gives anyone voted off prior to day 19 a second chance to come back, while those who are voted off after day 19 are pretty much shit out of luck (unless they get the same opportunity to come back as the outcasts, which, I doubt will happen).

Although this past episode was very exciting and I did enjoy the twist of the Outcasts, isn’t the whole motto of Survivor:

Outwit, Outplay, Outlast

Doesn’t this contradict the show motto? If any of the Outcasts were to ultimately win the game how exactly would this be outlasting? They were voted off and then given a second chance. Even so, this season is definitely fun.

What is it about Jon that makes other survivors want to get up in his face? Have you noticed that? First Shawn and now Rupert. Soon it will be Christa and Sandra…oh, wait…didn’t Sandra already do that? If he’s as annoying as he appears on TV, just imagine how annoying he must be to live with 24 hours a day.

But, Rupert was still out of line. On the other tribe, Andrew was too harsh. Two of my favorites characters turned mean this episode. How disheartening it must be, though, to have a secure standing and then to have that secure standing possibly threatened by an unknown.

“To be continued…” Darn it…I really really wanted to see who was going back in. I hope Burton goes to Morgan and Skinny Ryan or Lil go to Drake.

I had a horrifying thought over the weekend. What if they are playing up Jon the way they are - BECAUSE HE IS THE ULTIMATE WINNER?!

Remember how fond everyone was of Jenna?

Good GAWD, I’d have to tear out my eyeballs before watching another season…

As far as TPTB being disappointed in Osten quitting, I think otherwise. Instead, he assed a new wrikle to what had threatened to become a moribund franchise.

I wonder if his large muscle mass was working against him what with the diminished, protein-deficient diet. I would think a smaller, lighter person with less muscle to feed would be affected much less by the reduced calorie intake.

Doesn’t explain why someone who dislikes water, sand, and the outdoors in general would apply to be a Survivor, though.

Well, Drake was leading for quite awhile until they screwed up their lashed-together-sticks that were used to get the keys in the final cage.

I thought it was an interesting twist to have the Outcast tribe. There’s nothing “fair” about Survivor, so big deal if these guys get another chance.

I liked this show.

And I gott believe T’s t’s are fake. I thought so from day 1.

Yeah, but they’re still spectacular. Much better job than Heidi’s from last season (those were hideous).
