Survivor 2/26 - "I've Been Bamboozled!"

Richard pulled off his pants after he fell off the beam into the water. Later, he met Sue at one of the junction points and while they were squeezing past each other face to face, Richard rubbed his dangly bits on her. Ick.

What is with Shii Ann’s hero worship of Richard Hatch. It’s like annoying-teen-girl-wanting-to be-near-the-beetles crap, but It’s not John Lennon, It’s just fat ol’ obnoxious Dick. That alone puts her at the top of my ‘please shut up and get kicked off soon’ list

Everyone can now officially ignore that spoiler list – it predicted the wrong bootee.

One other thing I forgot to say.

Hehe Probst and the producers are playing the game well too. I’m guessing Shii Ann and Jerri did vote for Colby. But Probst only read one vote against Colby, which They will probably attriubute to Richard, rather than bringing out the suspense. Colby probably doesn’t undertstand how much Jerri is gunning for him. Hehe again

Did you watch the credits? If I am not mistaken EVERYONE but Hatch voted for Hatch.

Not only did it get the boot wrong, it has some faulty assumptions about the mix of the tribes after the merge. For episode 6, it says “Sue thinks she is in a position of power, she is not however Lex and Shi Ann lead to her dismissal.” Sue isn’t on the team with Lex and Shii Ann, so they obviously got the losing team that gets divided up wrong.

My stinky local station like to run a news teaser over the credits, I can never tell what is going on. I thought from the body of the show they were dead set on voting against Colby, but it’s possible the editors Bamboozeled me on that one too.

You weren’t mistaken.

Yea I can’t wait to get some damned clarification on that Sue meltdown.

I don’t think I saw dangly bits rubbing her, she wasn’t mad at Richard when she was actually berating Jeff. What in the world would make her berate Jeff Probst? Did he ask a weird question? Did he scold her for bravado? Did she opine on the fact that Richard just left? Who knows why she went ape-shit, that’s why we gotta tune in next week right?

Damn, I missed the Apprentice tonight. Man, I’m MarkBurnett’s bitch. I gotta catch it next week and get caught up. And boy I can’t wait till the new season of the Amazing Race.

Oh and on the votes. All votes were for Richard Hatch, other than Hatch’s vote for Colby. Although I wasn’t too fond of Hatch, I’ll miss his evaluation of the game and how to play it well. He was definitely bamboozled, I was too. I thought Colby was gonna go. This was one of the best episodes of Survivor All-Stars and now that the Spoiler site was proven to be wrong, this game will get better.

So, exactly what is a “FFF”, if you don’t mind me asking?

That meltdown preview intrigued me, too, but I expect it’ll be anticlimactic. She’s probably just arguing a judgement call during a reward or something like that.

Interesting episode overall, I thought, though they really boosted my expectations with the “some scenes aren’t suitable for younger viewers” thing, followed by leaping directly into a reward challenge. That had to be referring to the rubbing moment, by the way. I suspect the powers that be are being extra careful after Super-Nipple-Gate.

Rupert’s really batting 1.000 this time around, huh? Need to make a racing raft? Let’s make our front end five feet wide!

Another coup for Boston Rob this week. He’s sitting pretty this time around. Quite a difference from his last appearance.

I swear she screamed something about “being humiliated” which made me think it might have to do with the encounter with Richard. On the other hand, this is the same woman who peed on the raft in front of everyone so she’s not easily embarrassed. Guess I’ll just have to watch next week.

I adore Rupert. I really do. But when he was making plans for how to build the raft, the only thought going through my head was, “Why is he even being allowed to DISCUSS design for this thing after the shelter fiasco!?”

Wow, I’ve never been so delighted to have been wrong.

Not that I’m entirely glad that Hatch is gone; the show will be a little less interesting for the loss.

Love the Tom and Sue interaction, however. Wonderful television.

I just wanted to way that Richard’s farewell speech was one of his most likeable moments on All-Star. It was also one of the most likeable farewell speeches. So many people are bitter about being betrayed or talk generically about what a wonderful experience it has been or mutter dire predictions about how they will be missed. Not Richard. He was cheerful, amused, even a little proud of the fact that he hadn’t known he was getting the boot. Rather than being smug and talking about the Game and how no one plays it like he does, he was cheerful about it.

A broken clock is right twice a day. Your spoiler was way off.

No kidding- she is clearly the least worthy invitee. Watching Colby berate her next week should be good fun.

I was happy to see Rich go- his smug act was getting a bit old. Plus Ethan lives another week! Woo Hoo! I had to admire his classy farewell though- Rupert should have paid attention so when they boot him again, he can try and act like a grown up.

Has anyone made a bigger turn around game wise then Boston Rob?

Lex is playing a good game. The stronger players have the right idea in banding together to avoid the tyranny of the crap players the game has suffered from lately. Jerri your boot is coming soon. Yours too Shii Ann.

That’s exactly what I thought. Can’t wait to see how Jeff handles that.

I was really pleased with the scheming this week. Especially the scrambling around everyone had to do between the IC and TC. I thought that was fantastic. I’m sorry to see Richard go, because he was entertaining, in a smarmy, insufferable kind of way. I didn’t want him to win, but I wouldn’t have been surprised if he had.

elf6c I have to agree that Boston Rob has re-invented himself this time around. We saw a little bit of the old cocky-ness after the immunity challenge, but overall he’s gone from being a player I couldn’t stand to one I like. And he did do a great job in the IC - he must do framing work, judging from the way he was running along those planks.

I was also very impressed by Richard’s farewell speech. I’m going to miss him being on the show though - he was smug, but he was pretty damn funny too. However, I won’t miss them having to pixilate his pasty white ass all the time.

Regarding Sue’s meltdown next week, I wonder if when the tribes meet up and Jeff remarks on Rich being booted, he tries to downplay or make light of Rich’s and Sue’s encounter this week. She said something like “It wasn’t ‘Kind Of’ Jeff”. Although as Kiger said, she doesn’t seem easily embarrassed, so who knows.

The above is exactly why Kathy, Shii Ann, and Jerri made a tremendous strategic mistake tonight. Voting off Richard may have been fun for them, but it leaves them in a terrible spot. Had they actually allied with Richard, as he wanted, to vote off Colby, they would now have a situation where there were three of them, the Ethan-Lex pair, and Richard as a free agent. At that point, given Lex’s stated desire to get rid of Ethan, they could easily have turned directions and voted out Rich, leaving three women and two men - in other words, guaranteed themselves a shot at the merge. Instead, Shii Ann and Jerri are probably the next two gone from this tribe.

It consistently amazes me how these people never manage to think past the next tribal council. They make decisions without ever evaluating how the game is going to work out in the long run. What possible strategic benefit was there to voting Rich out instead of Colby? Or Ethan? Or Lex? All of the latter three are bigger immunity threats than Rich. Let Ethan and Lex make it to the merge, where they combine with Big Tom, and you’ve just reunited the three members of one of the strongest alliances in the history of the game. By way of contrast, including and especially his former alliance-mate Sue, was gunning for Richard. You could have used his vote for a couple of tribal councils, then bounced him immediately after the merge.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.
