Survivor Feb 18, 2010. in 15 minutes [open spoilers]

Your point is well taken, I withdraw weakest (but I think I said weak.) May I, at this late date, substitute “divisive influence” in what ever form best fits into my original sentence. I really don’t see her as building team unity.

Yeah, I have to agree.

But damn, I think Rupert is an even bigger non-team-playing loser, he’s injured, and he doesn’t look nearly as good in a bikini, so BOOOOOOOO on voting out Stephenie.

I’m so glad Boston Rob is fine and can joke about it okay. I really hope he’s okay physically because he’s the glue that’ll keep the villains strong. Russell is sharing food now? I think he’s jealous that he’s not the true leader of the team. I would think he could care less about it but I guess not. Boston Rob taking charge might be his downfall. They’ll blame him when they lose badly… I really hope not but I can see it happen, Russell getting people together and saying they lost because of him taking charge and screwing up.

Also, let’s not get too nuts with revisionist history. Stephenie made the final 2 in her second season, (losing in a landslide to Danni,) with her teams going 3-3 in immunity challenges and 2-5 in reward challenges. Hardly the tribal cancer James made her out to be.

Another awesome thing is the drama to be had in Team Heroes. James’ rage, the team already divided. Shit is stirring and I’m liking everything about it. Just wait till the drama begins with the Villains. That’ll be the most entertaining thing ever in Survivor history.

But James sold it so well to his tribemates. He’s gotta get props for that.

Now we can talk. Stephenie (hate the spelling by the way) rocks a bikini. Rupert should always be dressed, no Richard Hatch moments. I don’t get why he is a hero either, well liked does not make you a hero. Acting heroically make you a hero. Colby, who has turned into a little sissy for Survivor 20 was a hero. He put up his million for the credo that to be the best you have to beat the best and lost. So, he is as close to a Survivor hero as I can get within the game.

Ethan Zohn, who used his money and influence to help the folks he met in Africa, that was a hero outside of the game. I was saddened that he was not able to win his second shot.

As much as I liked Ethan in his first season, his second time around was meh for me. On a serious note, I was bummed to find out that he’s riddled with cancer.

Stephenie is named after her father, Stephen. Thus the spelling. (So says Wiki.)

Great point about James, BMada. I do have to give him props for the successful hard sell. Especially considering the voting choices seemed to be Stephenie and Amanda with no other options. Given his close ties with Amanda, yeah, he did good. Real good.

The second season winners seemed to have great big old targets on their backs, so I can let that slide, but yes meh.

I am also bummed to hear of his cancer. I am getting to the age where my friends are starting to show various cancers, so far colon, kidney, and several breasts and I can say I fucking hate what cancer does.

Why is it so hard for someone in the Heroes’ tribe to take a stance like Boston Rob? He takes charge in leading when he doesn’t like his situation. I don’t think he even cares if people don’t want to be bossed around he wants to get the job done. The people in the Heroes tribe seem to have way bigger egos when others around them become bossy, like they don’t want to hear someone berating them for sucking shit.

Did anyone else notice how loud the music was. There were times I couldn’ t even hear the dialogue it was so damn loud. Is this something new or am I just getting old?

Boston Rob is my all time hero, or villain, or whatever.

I had no problems with the sound, and I am often deaf in conversational frequencies.

Gotta love Randy.

In the reward/immunity challenge.

“Roll it on Rupert’s toe”

Seemed fine to me.

If you’re noticing it more and more on various programs, switch your tv from stereo to mono and you’ll be able to hear all dialog much more clearly.

I’m sure it’s not the first time this happened, but I have a problem with them giving water to a player and then letting them back into the game. Part of the thing everyone is suffering from is thirst, so Rob gets a little treat and everyone else gets nada. I say give him water, and then kick him out.

I agree that the H’s should have voted out Rupert or Cirie. Stef is an asset. The person who is hurting the team is James (duh!), and I say someone like Tom needs to take him aside and give him a good lecture about teamwork.

Rupert is completely annoying me. Non-stop whining about his toe, sitting himself out of the challenge, not able to start a fire… has he done anything? Why, oh why could they have not voted him out?

Of course the reason is, everyone would love to be left with Rupert at the end. They need to get rid of threats, which both Stephenie and Amanda are. So sad; I liked them both.

The other sad part is that I really like Colby and Tom; but they had hitched their wagon with Stephenie. So now those two are in trouble unless the heroes can put together a string of immunity victories.

Also, glad to see Rob is okay although the re-enactment seemed to be a little fictionalized. He’s by far my favorite villian (although I’m warming up to Jeri, strangely) and I was afraid he would be forced out of the game.

Nah, they want to keep players in the game unless medical decides they MUST be pulled out. They’ve given people stitches, bandages, etc. and kept them in the game. Besides, the Villians had fire by then, so water wasn’t that big a deal.

I always hate it when players get injured, but don’t want to call medical because they’re worried they’ll get pulled out of the game. There’s no injury that would be bad enough to get you pulled out right now, but would get better enough on its own that you can stay in - witness both James’ hand injury and Jonathan’s knee injury. Randy was one of the few players smart enough to call medical as soon as he was injured - few stitches in his scalp and he stayed in the game another month.

I’m betting the Heroes lose at least two more Challenges before they get their act together. But when the Villians finally lose one, their “gung ho” attitude will vanish.

If they vote out Amanda next, I might have to track people down and glare at them. Eye candy must be preserved!

James is my man, but he really did overdo it last night. I’m still rooting for him, but things don’t look too good from the previews. However, we did see a tree full of bats, and we know how James likes to munch on roast bat.

Steph is a good player, but I’m still not sure how she’s a hero. As someone said upthread, loveable loser. I won’t miss her and her eternally surprised eyebrows.

Tom: I still don’t see all the love he gets. I respect him for his real-life job and his work ethic at camp, but I’ve always thought he had that dickish tone. It just came off even worse than usual last night. I’ll still never forgive him for playing the “honor” card on DolphinBoy. If he was so great, he should have beat him straight up in the challenge.

And heaven help me, but I do like Boston Rob this season after hating him before.

I’m still shocked that there’s been no footage of Russell looking for an HII already.

So, are the girls provided with tweezers and razors? Their eyebrows are immaculately shaped and plucked, and their legs and bikini line never show a wandering hair. I heard Jerri Manthey in an interview years ago mentioning waxing, but at least the girls who make it up to 30 days should be showing a little more natural fluff in places other than their heads.

FTR, I’m a woman with a little extra fluff (laser hair removal = BEST INVENTION EVER for women like me), so perhaps I’m just not in touch with what a woman with average body hair would look like, waxing or not, after so many days.

I’d be amused if they didn’t provide shampoo or soap, but GOSH we can’t have hairy women on this show–here, have a razor.

In other commentary, it was nice to see Russell show he’s not a complete douche and show concern for Rob.
